The Jerusalem Music Centre (JMC) was founded in 1973 by legendary violinist Isaac Stern and Jerusalem Mayor Teddy Kollek, with the assistance of Yad Hanadiv (a Rothschild foundation) and the Jerusalem Foundation. The JMC’s purpose was to provide a musical centre that would find and nurture the finest musical talents from all over Israel, and today, as a result of more than 40 years of work, many such talents can be heard performing on prominent concert stages across the world.
As part of its work helping young Israeli talents to find their way onto the global stage, the JMC is also deeply proud of its tradition of bringing the world’s finest musicians to Israel to play and teach. As a truly global center for musical excellence, the JMC has hosted many of the pre-eminent musicians of the 20th century, including Arthur Rubinstein, Pablo Casals, Leonard Bernstein, Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman and Alfred Brendel.
Today, headed by renowned pianist Murray Perahia, the JMC continues to imbue each successive generation of young Israeli musicians with the very same love, passion, and respect for their art shared by their predecessors, and indeed by great musicians throughout the centuries.
    Our Purpose
To find, nurture and promote outstanding young musicians from throughout Israel, providing them with uniquely tailored programs that hone their skills both as soloists, and as ensemble and orchestral players.
To support the musical and pedagogical development of instrumental teachers across the country, bringing them into contact with the world’s leading musicians and musical pedagogues.
To provide a musical center of global stature at the heart of Israel’s capital, enriching the city and its residents through its world-class concert series.
    Our Vision
Music has the ability to touch so uniquely and directly upon the very essence of human experience. To gain true, authentic mastery of its performance is a lifelong journey that, over and above innate ability, requires commitment, dedication, and humility.
The JMC seeks out those extraordinary young Israelis who wish to, and are capable of embarking upon this journey with us. Around such individuals, we create a musical community of peers and great masters that nurtures, supports and challenges them throughout their formative years and beyond; a community that is there again and again to encourage and remind these budding artists that there is always more to be understood, experienced, and communicated through the language of music.
Through this process of musical contact, these youngsters develop from promising talents into true musicians, who make artistic and interpretative choices knowingly and authentically, as part of an ongoing search for meaning and honest communication in music.

Hi @Ran Zemach - so did you ever meet Mr Szeryng again, as he hoped for when he spoke at the end ? I think he died about 1990

As from ~ Elisabeth Matesky, longtime friend, Violin Duo Concerto Partner/Jascha Heifetz original Violin Master Class artist pupil-Khachaturian, JH-7, EM, {Rus vers. Library of Master Performers} Film; later Private 'Guinea Pig Pupil of Jascha Heifetz' of Nathan Milstein, 3 & 1/2 years, London; also Assist-Help to Nathan Milstein Int'l Violin Master Course/s, Zurich, 1970-'72/'Standby, '70s, & violinist friend of Henryk Szeryng from 1963-DOD, Ambassador Szeryng, 1989💦 Seeing & strained Hearing HS give Master Lesson on LvB Piano Trio in c minor, brings back much joy yet nostalgia having known Henryk Szeryng, and well, for 26 years, so kind & helpful to me and "Here", which is The 'Henryk' I know and knew w/dearest mutual friend, Lady A, whom HS always trusted & also myself, oft ringing from anywhere in the world, saying: 'Dear Elisabeth, do you have a piece of paper & pencil to take this down? I'm calling from Shanghai!!' - & this was what Life was blissfully like as a young Violinist signed on same Violinist Roster of Artists under Van Wyck Concert Artist Mgmt, Ltd., in 80 Wigmore St., London, W1!! Also with us were Ricci & Nathan Milstein!
HS was Ambassador Szeryng, of Mexico, & always travelled on his Diplomatic Passport doing Good Works & for his beloved younger violinist + musician friends, globally!! Prior to his passing, HS had donated one of his treasured Guarneri del Gesu violins to the Israel Philharmonic which is played by the Leader and /or a young exceptional Violinist/s to advance concert career's which was only one of many grand gestures of HS ❤️
HS knew & Loved all of Music as people will see w/his reference to a passage in LvB's 'Eroica' Symphony in sync w/a major theme here in the thematic story of the c minor Opening Mvt of the Trio & which HS then begins giving musical advice & weight to the young pupil's paying rapt attention to his every word & undertones! HS was not my 'teacher' yet his Music dripped into his conversations no matter what he was discussing w/his keen intelligence being Royal Musical Pedigree which the pupil's begin to quickly absorb & play far 'above' upon HS 's sitting in' as Violinist & teaching as a member of the Pupil Trio, w/kind + adroitness & humility ~ This took me way back to our own 'Wonder Years' in both Los Angeles w/Heifetz, Primrose & Piatigorsky, at USC Chamber Music Friday's & invited by JH, himself, to sit 2nd Violin in the JH, W. Primrose, Piatigorsky + E. Matesky String Quartet in Mozart & Haydn SQ's!! I know HS invited 4 of us from the original Jascha Heifetz, pupil's to play to him one Thursday late night at 🎻Glenn Dicterow's parents Hollywood Hills home!! It was there, playing the full Brahms Violin/Piano Sonata #3 in d minor that HS launched our friendship, selecting yours truly w/Later JH Violin Master Class Official Collaborative Pianist, Gerald Robbins, with me in an old black Chrysler, to drive him, Ambassador Szeryng, back to the Front of LA's Ambassador Hotel!! In Parting, HS gave me his Artist Mgmt Address/Tel & name of General Manager, to contact once I had arrived to London, on my Fulbright & which I followed up!! H. Szeryng was an truly instinctive teacher & a Great Violinist of the Carl Flesch School, whom in WWII, became the Chief Translator for Polish General Sikorski, and translating the Peace Offering of President of Mexico to General Sikorski to welcome 4000 Polish Immigrants to Mexico from WWII, none of whom had anywhere else to go ~ A magnificent Gezture of Love & Brother-hood on the part of the grand El Presidente de Mexico!! HS later immigrated to Mexico City, & met Artur Rubinstein, in Mexico City, speaking in native Polish, invited by AR & Impromptu, to 'play 1Mvt of the Brahms d minor Violin/Piano Sonata' & so moved, Rubinstein played the full Brahms w/ Henryk Szeryng, then insisted HS come to NYC, to meet his Grand Impressario, Sol Hurok, & play then be signed under Sol Hurok Mgmt. and which is said: "The Rest is History!!" This is a Wondrous video, despite sound not too clear, yet communicates the very essence of The Grand Artist & Kindness of Mexico Ambassador ~ Henryk Szeryng, Humanitarian - Great Personage & Friend to myself Plus! Elisabeth Matesky w/Luv 🌺🎻🎻

Mr. Szeryng teaching is quite "funny" or questionable four our days I would say LOL but of an unquestionable mastery!
