  • Before You Go To VIENNA, Watch This. I’m Rok and I’ve spent last 8 years travelling around Europe as a tour guide. In this video I want to share with you my Vienna Travel Tips that will make your travel to Vienna, Austria much easier. You will learn Where to stay in Vienna? How many days you need in Vienna? How safe is Vienna? How is public transport in Vienna? And much more.
    WHAT TO EXPECT FROM VIENNA
Vienna is big, modern capital of Austria with about 2 million people that attracts 7.5 million visitors a year. It was an important centre of power as it was the royal seat of powerful Habsburg Empire. Vienna was a centre of high culture, of modernism and a world capital of music that attracted the best composers such as Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert and world's first psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud.
    SAFETY & LANGUAGE
In this part of the video I am looking into safety for tourists in Vienna and what you should be aware of. I am also explaining how far English will get you.
    HOW TO GET TO VIENNA
Vienna can be reached by plane, by train, by bus or car and even by ship on the Danube river.
    BEST ROOM LOCATION
Here I am looking into the best room location for exploring the city. Historic city centre or district 1 is the most expensive so I will also look into best alternatives.
    PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Vienna has a very good public transport system that is clean, safe and rarely overcrowded. It consists from metro called U-Bahn, local train called S-Bahn, street tram and bus.
    Vienna public transport webisite: www.wienerlinien.at
    TYPICAL FOOD from VIENNA
If you are a meat lover you should definitely try world famous Wiener Schnitzel. Strudel originates from Vienna but is a popular type of desert all over Austria and in other countries that were once part of the Habsburg empire. Kaiserschmarrn is another desert and essentially it is a shredded pancake with plum jam. Another world famous dessert from Vienna is a chocolate cake with a thin layer of apricot jam called Sacher cake.
    TOP TIPS & IDEAS
In the last part I explain when is the best time to visit Vienna and I share some practical tips.

One thing i would like to add as an Austrian myself is: You have to see the nightlife of vienna, vienna is a city packed with students from all around the world. There are many bars, pubs and clubs which are really interessting to see.

Your videos are always so informative and well-made! We will rewatch it again when we go to Vienna. Giorgio has been there in the winter and he said it was freezing cold. Maybe I would handle the cold a bit better since I'm Swedish. I love ferris wheel, so I would definitely have a ride in this one. I didn't know that Vienna has the oldest ferris wheel in the world. I also didn't know that the snow globe is from Vienna. I like strudel a lot but I have never tried Sacher cake and Kaiserschmarrn. It looks delicious! Giorgio loves schnitzel so he will probably eat it all the time when we go there. Haha.

      @rokgoesaround  Před rokem +2

Can't recommend specific hotel, but you will find plenty of hotels in Venice around Venezia Maestre train station. The same goes for Vienna main station. In both cases you will need to use public transport to get to the historic city centre.

There is also the possibility purchasing tickets online for public transport. As I have read on specialized websites, a kind of eTicket (24/48/72h pass) is issued which does not require validation but can be used when there are filters to check your tickets. Am I wrong?
