11:22 "I encourage you to think about what kind of society do we have to live in for this to be normal." 💯We're so happy to be part of this adventure again!
Agree with the cycling point, Vienna is such a car friendly city and drivers are often quite aggressive. There is potential, but the car lobby is far too strong when compared to Paris for example.
I love how that car didn't even honk, just waited patiently while you admired the tree canopy. Can we import Vienna drivers to Toronto, please!
Nice to have you back for another season of Human Mobility Scores!

As someone that lives in Vienna and as a bike commuter, the three out of five (a low score) is well earned for reasons not shown in the video. For example, parking zones are marked using metal poles that are almost on top of bike lanes, which are too narrow, so often if there are bikers traveling both ways they need to be careful not to crash with each other or the metal poles. Also, quite often the bicycle paths are taken from the sidewalk, letting too little space for the pedestrians. I would not feel safe if my kids moved by bike in Vienna.
And this is quite strange, I do not understand the need for such car infrastructure and why people move by car (with lots of traffic jams) when the public transport is so incredible.
Can't beat 1€ a day for public transport, unless you make it completely free of course. 😉
But does this not also explain the lack of an elaborate bicycle network for commuting? Vienna obviously focuses more on pedestrians, and moving those with public transport for larger distances.
I find it funny that Vienna's version of a Weiner Mobile is a bicycle, rather than a giant car shaped like a hot dog.
Fun fact: “wiener” sausages are called “Frankfurter” in Austria
Welcome back. We missed you.
Vorgartenstrasse is my living place! I only have a 70 meters walk to the u-bahn!
beautiful video! very informative :)
I disagree with the pedestrian score of 5/5. Many streets further from the city have extremely narrow sidewalks and are (parked) car infested. Generally parked cars take up too much space that should be used for people, trees and greenery. I'd give it a 3/5.
Circles on maps are common in the UK. Even my local railways station has 10 minute, 30 minute and 1 hour walking circles on the map. Some even have different estimate times for walking and cycling for the circles.
I am from vienna. I agree with your rating :) vienna needs to improve its bicycleinfrastruktur. But besides that its great :-) however you have not been to the less central areas. It can get very car centric there
Normalize sleeping in public!
And not those sleeping from overworking like in Japan, just to be able to hit a snooze, take a nap, get some shut eye wherever and whenever without fear of safety or judgement.
I'd love to see how you rate Stockholm
Wait a Minute it seems like Vienna got extra points for stuff that's the same in Munich
Think Richard Strauss was more important than either Mozart and Beethoven for Vienna.
You're not wrong, but we picked Beethoven and Mozart because they're more well know.
*weeps in American*

Why are there no Escalators? How am I to yell at people for standing on the left if they don't have them?
