Your farm has held up well but that’s a sign your hard work has paid off and I mean hard work.
Yes!
Yep! Pretty good!
Yes! Not that bad!
It's great news that you had no structural damage on your house, barn, shop, and lost no animals. Fantastic building management on your part. Berl is another reason to be thankful you decided to push the barn build ahead of schedule. Azalea and Cookie says thank you for the safe haven. 🥰 Happy Day! 🙏❣️🤗
Glad you are all safe, humans , furry and feathered!
I'm happy for you. No loss of life and really little damage of the land. No tornado. Hi to Gina and Olivia. Good bless you all.
Weather anomalies are happening more and more...you have done so much on the OGP.... glad to see you doing all the projects !! You guys are amazing! Gina, I love your secret garden!!! I can't believe Olivia is going to college.....she is beautiful!! Wwith love, from, Linda in Indiana
Gooooooood Morning Linda. Thank you
AL look on the Bright Side now you know the spots along your driveway to put bigger or New Culvert drain pipes in case of heavy rains again !!
👍🏼😁👍🏼
Larger culvert does seem to be in order 👍
After paying for a few truckloads of material - gravel and the like - additional culvert pipes would pay for themselves - but I understand Al's view... it's not every day they get 6.5 to 8.5 inches of rain. It does seem to be happening more often these days...
Your hard work on water management has paid off, great job!!!
We live in South Texas. Lost our power for a week. Luckily we have a generator, so we save all our food. My chickens were not happy but we all survived. No water in our house but a bunch of trees down. Love y'all Lumnah family.
Good morning, Al and Gina. I’m in love with your barn. It’s perfect! Y’all thought of everything. So sorry about the flooding. Praying!!!!
Need another covert there
Hey Gina and Al, glad y’all fared well. We took a direct hit from Beryl with 13” rain in 8 hours and 90 mph winds, but nothing compared to larger storms or Harvey that circled for three days and 54”. Son and daughter just got power back and most solar panels are somewhere in the county. Glad you did okay. Everything’s a blessing thanks for being there.
How are you guys doing from the storm. That is a lot of rain.
@@LumnahAcres We are doing okay had a small roof leak from the horizontal rain that found its way through some caulking that needs attention going to use some Lexel or Big Stretch had good reports on both. Thanks for asking, the freeways in the city became rivers but we are used to that. We had more tree damage with this Cat 1 hurricane than we’ve had with stronger storms but we’ve recovered well. All the best to your family.
I was just thinking the same, as I live just north of Galveston. I've never seen anything close to the amount of rain we got with Harvey. That was insane. Beryl was a tree massacre.
Hi Al,Gina,Brutus. Sad to see so much rain but glad you did not get anything over the top.
Th animals look happy so that is a good thing. Take care happy family.
Good morning Al, Gina, Olivia and all the Lumnah friends and extended family.
Howdy Robert - good afternoon!
Al and Jena, This is the kind of weather you should get back in your PJS and watch movies all day. ❤❤❤❤
Unfortunately when you have a farm, you have responsibilities that make that a nice thought but hard to do unless some friends stop by and do the chores for them!
Apologies for being pedantic but it's spelled Gina.
So very thankful that you guys are ok after all that rain. Prayers for those who were more severely impacted.
Ah, New england weather, you gotta love it 😂❤
Wide overflows are better and you did a fantastic job on your road just a touch up. ✅
Counting your blessings....reminds me of Sunday School song 🎶'' See What God Has Done.''....and in my 87 years l've learned that even the things that don't seem like ''blessings'' can benefit.....Romans 8:28 ..... and BTW, your up-beat can-do spirit is a blessing to all of us who watch your videos. Stay safe....💞🤠
It's contagious!
It is good that you have enough land so that the rain water has a place to go without causing major damage. That was a lot of rain!
If you never lost power, you are way ahead of anyone in Houston, TX
That's unfortunate how Texas runs its power grid. God bless ya
That was a lot of rain. Thankful everyone is safe. Y'all take care and have a Blessed day.
Little pumpkin probably needs the milk, looks like the runt, runts are my favourite, glad you fed pumpkin the egg seperate ❤
WOW!! That is a powerful lot of rain. I always love your positive attitude, Al. Stay strong I know you will have it fixed in no time.
All your hard work really paid off BIG! You planned brilliantly.
Morning Al & Gina, wow a ton of water. At the road the water looks like a lake. Good thing you cleared the culvert out. We are still in a drought here in SE Tennessee. My garden is baking in the sun. Had 2 & 3 blooms on some tomatoes and have a triple aar of corn. Good you made that berm to keep the material in the sink hole from washing away. Things are still looking great.
Good morning Al, Gina, Olivia and all Lumnah family & friends. Good to see the farmstead held up quite well with over eight inches of rain !
Very glad all of your hard work and planning allowed you to come through Beryl MUCH better than many.
A lot of rain but no wind. You were fortunate, thank God.
Good Morning Lumnah World! Glad to see you are O.K. up north! Ken shared video from around his area and the bad flooding there. Stay dry!!!
Wow that was a lot of water. So happy no loss of birds from the rain. God was good!
I used to spend my summers at a little beach town on the East Coast... and we tracked those Noreasters and Hurricanes every time they came for a visit. We'd need to change out small craft warning flags on the town flag pole as things got worse or better... but what really sunk our spirits was just how much sand was removed from the beach. It was a constant battle to keep the beaches maintained. Only once did the storm completely wash out the dunes... connecting the ocean to the bay... when we were tooling around the town in our boat instead of our car. The awesome power of God is definitely shown in these storms. I think it helps keep life in perspective. Good luck rebuilding that washed out portion of your road. I'll be eager to see how that turns out.
Wow, thanks for sharing your story. That must have been a lot of work for you during the summers. Talking about tooling around the town in a row boat must have been something! Have a great rest of your week!
Gooood morning Lumnah's! As bad as things are your ( great) planning and understanding of how your homestead works is what " saved your bacon" thanks for sharing!
Good morning Al and Gina, have a nice day. There is so much rain for you.
Good day to all friends in the Lumnah Universe

God needs to water his flowers and trees.

I really have to tell you guys, I love how you treat your animals. Whether as a pet or for harvesting, you treat them gently and respectfully. Humane. That's a lot of rain! Y'all's hard work has paid off. What's cool is with the drone you will be able to track where the water traveled. Glad all the animals are safe.
Planning ahead did a wonderful job. The grading, then rock removal, adding gravel fill, leveling !! has certainly paid off. Those old timers did it all shovel by shovel full. And this adds to your well water for benefits down the line. Farming is hard work!!
Glad y'all safe 😊
Hello there to the Lumnah Family and all visitors to the OGP site from Minnesota! May we all be blessed with the weather we need!
Howdy there, DH!
Wow, we had gotten a big hit in Jamaica 🇯🇲, Even as we speak, there are places still without electricity and water
A friend over in Texas just got his power back a couple days ago. I hear you, Lloyd!

Gooooooood Morning Jose
Your ''Guten Morgen'' reminds me of a gazillion years ago, when we lived in Heidelberg....happy memories....oooh the cheesecake!!! 🤠
That is a lot of water. I am impressed with how the road faired...well done. I will say that it is a good thing you had that rain before you had animals in the pasture beside the creek - it's Mother nature saying to leave it as it is. Thanks for the update.
Yowza' Yowza' Yowza' !
Glad you guys were ok. Praying for anyone who got it bad.
Just think all of that rain started as dust in Africa, picked up moisture over the ocean, hit the Caribbean, hit Mexico, hit Texas, came all the way to Michigan (6" here), then over parts of Canada and the Northern USA states, and arrived in the New England States and still had plenty of rain left.
Good morning Lumnah Family and friends! Wishing you all the best and making the most out of life!

Good morning Lumnah farm. Littleton got hit hard with the storm. We faired ok in Central ⛵⛵ Lakes Region. I had mulched the kitchen garden with hay and that saved it. Day 13 of this heat wave. Looking forward to cooler temps.Your property is looking good overall. Piggies are cute. I like that breed better than the larger ones I raised.
That drone would be handy for locating some of our cattle. Glad we managed to get 4,000+ bales of hay done before the heavy rains arrived.1st cutting is finished.
Good morning folks !
I’m so sorry you got so much rain and parts of the country isn’t getting any. Lord keep your family and animals safe.
Glad to see all your hard work paid off.Just imagine what you would have thought about the property if today was your first visit before any possible purchase ! One pedantic thing,if you measure rainfall with a container that has a wider opening than bottom you overstate the amount of rain ,your rain gauge is probably correct.
Gooood morning Lumnah family and friends! Oh my, that thumb nail pic looks foreboding! We had 9" of rain in a little over 4 hours a couple of years ago. But because we are halfway up a hill, never had flooding. Had a small river going down along the road by our property, and east of the house. We are blessed the land here is graded so it runs the water away from the house. I had just dug and filled a good sized French drain along the north side of the house, it worked. No water in the basement. God bless you all!
Edit: So glad it was not worse for you! Your hard work is paying off.
Good morning, Forrest - sounds like you wisely planned the drainage around your house - it's a good feeling when a plan works as it should for sure!
@@samvalentine3206 Hi Sam! I was fully expecting to see water in the basement. I think it ran off so fast it did not sink in, but thank you, it was a very pleasant surprise it did work! And the lightning that day was something I have never seen in the north. Down in the deep south, yes. But here, no. I was counting the flash-bang lightning within a mile radius of the house. I stopped after reaching 12. It was a really unusual storm. A half hour before it started, there was hardly a cloud in the sky.
I go hunting on my daughter's property. She showed me a picture of a really. really nice buck in her yard from a couple of days ago. I know their patterns change with the seasons, but hopefully he is still around come September!
Gooood morning Forrest, I hope you are well.
So glad it worked out to plan!
@@teresahyneman4349 Hi Teresa! thanks!
Hoping you have some sunny days soon!
Beryl remains in Michigan: South Central Michigan (Kalamazoo - Battle Creek area) got 6" of rain with flooding in the lower lands. Bad for the damage, very great for our aquafers and good for the Great Lakes. -helps clean the rivers and lakes by washing stuff down to the ocean.
❤glad you have things under control at your place. Good management🙏🙂
God bless Lumnah Acreas 🙏🙏🙏💕💕💕🥰
That's alota water ! !
buckets are skinny at bottom or wide at top and that will skew your measuring. I believe the rain gage more then the bucket with significant rainfall like that. wow still way more then wanted, glad all are safe at Lumina Acres.
It's a straight sided bucket, look again!
@tonygrimes13 no it isn't. It is like any 5 gallon bucket out there. All stack inside each other due to slight tapper not really visible to naked eye but measure it and you will know . All are made tappered to stack inside each other.
You do great work on water management strategies, not the preferred way to test them, but now you know where else needs attention. Glad teh Farm area stayed safe. Will hope for drying breezes and sunshine for a few days for you.
🇨🇦morning

it is a GOOD thing and I am glad you are doing "WELL" :-)

Glad you guys are OK. Beryl destroyed many islands in the Caribbean. Here in Jamaica our southern coastline was dessicated. The butter bands did damage on the north coast, but not as bad. We are recovering.👍🏾🇯🇲

Good morning guys!
Goooood morning Lumnah Acres!! That’s a lot of H20!! Stay safe!!
With that much rain in such a short time period we would have flooted away, house and all. In the high desert, what you got in one or two days would equal our ANNUAL rain fall on a relatively normal year. This year we've had considerably more than that, but for the most part spaced out. We had that one Pacific Coast hurricane hit us last year, but even then we didn't get hit like you. (Other places nearby did, however.)
I'm very happy it wasn't worse. I was really concerned for your meat chickens. Mike, "The Fit Farmer" lost a bunch of them to a pretty good rainfall last year, I think, and it was devastating for them. I'm sure by now you are high and dry. I look forward to hearing more on Friday.
Man water is a powerful thing !! Glad you made it through and can fix the issues and yes thoughts and prayers for those effected worst!! Glad all the animals are safe!! Blessings to all!!

@@samvalentine3206 good morning Sam!!
Glad you are OK. We were out of the country and not following the news. We were unaware of the storm.
Now is the perfect time to see where and how much goes below on the lower Farm. Every big piece of land has its challenges and its gifts. You can easily where the water runs most. Watch for the greenery it will tell you where your water goes.. You may be able to do more Land / water ways for your Property. You shld be able to maintain bout 60 % of your water. Soon enough even more.
Looks like you have found a use for all those rocks you dig up, build up the road edges and raise up the areas that flood!
Al and Gena glad you made it safe threw the hurricane storm, I recommend when you build your dream home I recommend putting in a basement most houses in New England have basements incase of a hurricanes

Good Morning! You should maybe think about in case of emergency and the road washes out. We know that is a weak spot for the property. Maybe build a small bridge over that area that won't wash out. It would be fine come spring run off as well that way. With Gina's health scare, now you have animals that can accidentally seriously harm a person, you want to make sure there is a way off the property at all times. A small bridge in that area will definitely help. Look at Arm's Family Homestead. I am not saying you need anything that big or expensive, but they are never trapped now.
Good morning Al Lumnah and family. Rain rain sometimes just doesn't stop. You got flooding going on. What's this going to do do to the sink hole area you worked on? Be safe guys. Thanks for sharing.
Gooooooood Morning Gene. I haven’t looked over at that area
Good morning, Gene! I was afraid Al was going to get the TYM stuck in that morass of sand and silt at the sink hole the last video! Thank goodness he didn't!

Beryl has really done a number on many countries. While my island in the Caribbean had only slight damage on land the storm surges on south of the island caused the waves to breach the beach bringing sand on the roads making them impassable. On the west coast it took the sand away leaving 6 feet drops in places. This is the nesting season for the Hawks Bill Turtle and nearly all the nest have been washed away. Those turtles that are coming ashore to lay their eggs are finding it difficult to find somewhere to lay their eggs. Quite a number of the have had to be rescued from the roads, swimming pools and drains etc.
I live in Rosharon, Texas south of Houston, I am a drainage district commissioner in our area, I wish that I had to flow rate that you have. I had 30 inches of water in my yard for 3 day, 14 inches over the road in front of my house, you are very lucky to have the flow rate that you have.. I had water 360 degrees around my house for three days.
From the looks of things alongside the roadsides, ya'll dodged a major bullet..😮 The brook/stream/ beaverpond looked like a whitewater rafting river...😂 Thankfully ya'll are A OK!! Love ya'll ❤️
Glad you got by with as little of damage as you did.

It looked like the beaver pond was back ; God is good , the water went down stream . Glad yall are okay . Seeya
Good morning Al and Gina. Glad you fared well thru the storm. You guys sure got a lot of rain though. Take care and have a good one!👍❤️
Al, Gina, your farm held up well under the strain of storm Beryl. It's no accident, though, as you have been improving the roads, access and pastures since day one. Your proposed road repairs sound spot on to me, ready for the next time. I suppose that you could always lower an extra section of the road near the brook to get a wider run off. I don't know how you would achieve that in a cost effective way. But! Well done. Regards, Stephen.
Be thankfull its just a bit of rain your home and family are fine you should be offering your time and equipment to the locals that need help who got hits much worse
