  • We broadcast this video with permission from Douw Steyn HC. It is where former enemies become friends. During Ops Drosdy several ships were attacked in the Lobito Harbour by SA Special Forces. A Russian diver removed some of the limpet mines - years later he met Douw Steyn, a 4 Recce member involved in planting the explosives. Subscribe and activate the bell to be informed of new episodes.

    Soldiers don't carry political baggage.
    Salute all brave men.
    The modern world liberal politicians dishonor all of us

    The feelings of these soldiers from opposite sides is patently genuinly that of friendship devoid of any animosity . This makes one realise the futility of war and conflict. After all we all want to just get on wit our lives. Really enjoyed this episode , thanks

    Brave professional soldiers. Gives you an idea of how much ordinance they were sending to Quito Cannavale. Great documentary thank you.

    Koos excellent work once again, I read about this incident in the 4- Recce book "Iron Fist from the Sea". I would have never found this follow up in a million years...

    Congratulations on an excellent documentary concerning Ops Drosdy albeit it filmed in partially in CapeTown. The Russian perspective is very interesting and appreciated. It would have been good if a few of SADF members involved in the operation were interviewed like Major Pierre Lundberg and other role players.Well Done to the soldiers on both sides. I believe we haven't seen the end of this epic story.

    Thanks for placing this documentary on Legacy Koos. Very poignant look back on this Op and the soldiers involved, on both sides of the divide.

    Thanks for sharing. It's good to also hear the story from the other side and the human side of the war. Although the cargo was not completely destroyed the cargo was delayed for some time.

    So glad to finally see the Russian interpretation as I heard about this documentary a few years ago. Thank you Koos.

    9:47 - asking him if he recognizes anything in the harbor “no” he replies. Perhaps that’s because they are in Cape Town Harbor 😂😂. Still, a great documentary although it does cloud the authenticity of some parts of what the director is presenting. 👊👊

    Great to hear both sides. It was mentioned that some recces were dropped in by air, is this correct as I don’t remember reading that in the book?

    Phew... some story! The narrator seems to suggest that the SA mission was not a success - how did our fighting men regard the results?

    • @Rustie_za
      @Rustie_za Před měsícem +2

      That specific mission was not a success, however the greater SADF war effort is a different story.

    Baie dramaties, Suid Afrika het hulle darem bang gemaak 😂. Ek dink nie ons het 'n "Made in South Africa" op die myne gelos nie.
