For the person reading this message I hope you are doing good, I want to share this in a lot of comment sections so it can reach everyone possible including you so please read until the end:
God loves you a lot and he wants you to be saved and happy, nothing in this world like money, fun or popularity can fill the emptiness in your heart, only his son Jesus who died for you can fill you who might not nothing know about him. He knows you more than yourself. You who turned your back to him, he is still waiting for you with his arms open to receive you again. You who fought against him and have done things that are unforgivable in your eyes, he will always see you as his son and he already paid the price for all your sins. Even if the world doesn’t forgive you, all that you need is God and everything will be alright, so trust God and no one else. Repent from your sins and never go back to them, and the most important thing is that you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior with your voice and your heart, when you do all these things, pray to God and read the Bible(Christian Bible not a Catholic since the Catholic one might’ve changed the word of God to something that it is not God’s word but men’s, so read a christian Bible) so that you get to know God. Follow it’s word completely, because some people might say that the times and things have changed, but God never changes, the Bible says that the heavens and earth will pass but his word will never pass and that means that the things God didn’t like back then he still doesn’t like today. So don’t let anyone tell you that now you can have sex before marriage or something like that just because everyone does it, because the Bible says that wide is the path to destruction and many walk through it. When you pray, ask God to guide you so that you always walk in his righteousness and so that he gives you strength so you don’t fall to sin, and don’t just say I am a Christian and never read your bible or end up not praying because being a follower of God means building a father and son-daughter relationship with him. Fast and pray and be his son not only in words but also in your actions.
Today God has showed grace to you who might be depressed, empty, are being hated or hates, or maybe you don’t receive genuine love this is even for you who enjoys or is comfortable with your current life. Whoever you who is reading this is, know that God is calling you to give you a future and a hope in this life and in the eternal life. Trust him, because he loves you so much that is beyond understanding, and the time is short.
After you finish reading this message you might die or Jesus might return, so be ready and follow him, for today he stretched his hand to you because he loves you and cares for you and he doesn’t want you to go to hell, so please go to him, it will be hard because living for God means denying yourself and the things that you might like, but it will be the best decision you will make in your entire existence and I promise you it will be worth more than any of the things that you don’t want to let go of. Make the right choice, because today God has stretched his hand to you who he loves so much that he even died for knowing all the bad things you have done. That is how much love he has and will always have for you.
I don’t know you but you might be going through hard times, so keep these words in mind that God gives hope to the hopeless and he heals any wounds including the ones from the heart, and he can do the same for you regardless of anything. Thank you for reading, God bless you always ❤️

I was pushed to my limits: a former Marine, divorced, loss of job opportunities, failed financially, then my little brother suddenly passed away and I was struggling with crippling depression (was diagnosed by the psychiatrist). I attempted to take my own life and was hospitalized. Jordan Peterson's words brought me back to life. I've been getting therapy and setting goals. Thank you Professor Peterson. Please understand that Jesus loves you more than you can possibly know. He longs to have fellowship with you. The most important decision you will ever make is where you will spend eternity. The Bible says that you can know that you have eternal life in heaven, but If you are putting your trust in anything other than the finished work of Jesus on the cross to get you to heaven, you do not understand God's way. Please let me share with you how you can know you have a home in heaven.
The Bible says that we are all sinners. When God created Adam and Eve, He made them perfect without sin, but they chose to disobey God and became sinful in nature. This sin nature was passed down to all humanity.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Your sin separates you from God.
      Romans 3:23 For all have sinned (yes, you too) and come short of the glory of God;
A holy, righteous God cannot allow sin into heaven. Sin must be paid for and God's price for sin is death, but not just a physical death, but a spiritual death which means separation from God forever in hell.
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
In the Old Testament when man sinned, God required the sacrifice of a perfectly spotless lamb as a substitute in the place of the sinner. The blood of that lamb was only a temporary payment for their sin and so this had to be done often. Jesus Christ, God's Son took on flesh, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and offered Himself as that perfect, spotless Lamb and shed His blood as payment for the sins of the whole world.
John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Jesus loved you so much He WILLINGLY came and allowed wicked men to spit on Him, mock Him and scourge Him until He was unrecognizable. They stripped him naked, thrust a crown of thorns on His head and nailed His hands and feet to a cross. He hung in agony for hours bleeding, thirsting, struggling for every breath. He died innocently in your place so that you could be saved from going to hell. It was His blood that satisfied the just demands of a holy God. God will not accept anything else.
There is no greater love than that!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever (that means you) believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The good news is that Jesus didn't stay dead in the grave. He came back to life 3 days later just like He promised and He still lives today!
Matthew 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
      6. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
Friend, Jesus did all this because He wants to give you the FREE gift of eternal life in heaven with Him!
You cannot do anything to earn your own way into heaven. You can't work for it, be baptized for it, go to church for it or try to be good enough for it. It is a FREE gift that God is offering to you if you will simply receive it by faith.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
      9. Not of works, lest any man should boast.
God said there is only one way to get to heaven, but it is not hard. You must admit you are a sinner headed for hell. You must believe that Jesus died and paid for your sin with His own blood on the cross, was buried and 3 days later rose from the dead. Then you must repent of your sins and call on God for mercy to save you from hell and give you eternal life in heaven with Him.
Romans 10:9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
      13. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
None of us deserve God's mercy and grace, but let me warn you friend, that if you reject His FREE gift, you are already condemned and when you die, you will suffer the torment of burning in hell for eternity in a lake of fire where you will be forever separated from God and all that is loving and good.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Please don't wait! Don't take the risk of putting it off until another day, repent, turn to Christ NOW wherever you are at because you aren't guaranteed to live another day on this Earth. Believe God's Word, ask Him to save you and He will! I would love to meet you in heaven someday. Get your name written down in the Lambs Book of Life. God bless you!

It’s been one year today that my youngest son died, he donated his organs. My eldest son was in another hospital fighting for his life after receiving a life saving organ. I was going through (still am) one of the worst vindictive divorces that has lingered over 2 years. I was put on an antidepressant, received therapy, and have tried to get back to some kind of normalcy. Still, I am anxiety stricken (GAD) and have insomnia. I can’t stay on task for long, cannot focus on reading, movies or drawn out conversation. I just want to be left alone and avoid events where there are too many people. Trying to regulate my emotions. Not a situation I thought I would ever have to endure. My heart goes out to others who are trying to cope.

Jesus cares what you are going through and He loves you more than you could ever possibly know. I am sharing my best friend's story to help you learn how to have real peace and joy in your life. God bless you.
      Precious Memories-By Sonya Lakey
      Family Story
Little did our family of six know that Friday evening, September 24th, 2021, would be the last night our family would be complete. We laughed together, played games, sang, and enjoyed listening as our 16-year-old son, Ethan, played the piano for us. I packed a lunch for Ethan for a church mountain hike he was going on the following day.
My mother (who was visiting from out of state) and I woke early with Ethan on Saturday morning. He hugged me and smiled, never pulling away or rushing me. He got in the car, waved, said he'd see me later and he loved me. It was hard to watch my "new driver" heading out on his own that morning. As Ethan pulled out of the gate, I turned to my mother and said, "It's just so hard letting go." Little did I know how much "letting go" I was really doing. That was the last time I saw Ethan. He did not make it home that evening.
That afternoon, a friend tried to contact my husband, leaving an urgent message to call him back. He tried several times to return the call to no avail. As we were preparing supper, an overwhelming feeling of deep concern for Ethan filled my heart. I quietly blinked back tears. I glanced out the window, half expecting to see a police officer pull up to the house, but no one arrived. However, within a few minutes, a patrol car DID pull into the driveway. In my heart, I feared the worst. My husband and I went out to meet the officer, who confirmed our fears. Hesitantly, he told us our son had fallen off of
a bluff and had succumbed to his injuries. Our hearts were crushed; they still are.
Yet, in all of our brokenness, deep, continual grief and loneliness, our family has such a blessed Hope and assurance that we will see our dear son and brother again. You see, when Ethan was a young boy, he was saved; he put his faith in Jesus alone to forgive his sins and to take him to Heaven when he died. He realized some very important truths from the Bible that he would want to share with you.
      His Story
Everyone is a sinner. Sin is any violation of God’s Law. God is holy, just and righteous, and He cannot allow sin in His presence. Ethan realized that he - like all of us - had sinned; and his sin separated Him from God.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ” (Romans 3:23)
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12)
He understood that, because of his sin, he deserved to spend eternity in Hell.
“For the wages of sin is death;” (Romans 6:23a) [Wages: price]
“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)
Ethan believed that Jesus, God’s Son, paid the price for all sin when He died on the cross - because His sinless sacrifice was the only thing that could satisfy the just demands of a righteous, holy God. Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb, but He arose the third day, triumphant over sin, death, and Hell. Jesus is alive today!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

If someone is an intrinsic overthinker, all it takes is one catastrophe to hit your life and then you get sent in a downward spiral because all you can think about is that one bad thing. Even if other positive things happen, it's hard to focus on the good and carrying out your life because the burden becomes overwhelming.

My daughter is a type 1 diabetic & we had no technical help with machinery when she was diagnosed at 6. Even worse was she slept through her lows so it was a constant fear of her dying in her sleep. When she got sick, there was absolutely no time to grieve. Then I felt sadness when things settled & I let myself feel intensely for a period of about 3 months. Then I just accepted & never complained right after. My spouse grieved differently. We had no counseling because the focus was on my daughter primarily & the kids. Rightly so. But living for the day is a traumatic survival mode. Its a catastrophic suppression in my view & it doesn't facilitate a basic acceptance of what you cannot ever control.
Including the death of your own kid.
Acceptance of even that strenghted my life in an unmeasurable way including my marriage.

Was on them all my life and all they did was ruin my physical health - along with everyone else I know who has taken them for long periods of time - plus didn't it just come out regarding false info about. chemical imbalance being false and serotonin not being the issue? so then if its not serotonin what's the point of an SSRI? Its simply the placebo effect with a chance of horrid side effects. Im in a very similar place as the questioner and 30 some years of antidepressants just temp numbed the problem, gave me life long health problems, and made big Pharma tons of money. I recommend meditation, sunshine, possible hypnotherapy, journaling, and change of diet.

      Romans 3:23 For all have sinned (yes, you too) and come short of the glory of God;

Thank you for affirming what I’m trying to do in response to daily horrendous pain and mental anguish. I’m afraid to take antidepressants as I fear losing control and consequently taking my own life. I don’t want my entire life to be defined by that one act. But, I focus on smaller pieces of time, depending on the difficulty of the moment, or day. I have trouble playing, which I think is understandable given the pain. I spend too much time trying to fulfill imagined responsibilities instead of developing a pattern of things that afford light hearted moments when I have a few hours of feeling better. But, in the end, it is my true hope, that I will have been brave and kind to others despite my circumstances and that one day, Christ, will welcome me home to a place where evil of any kind, has no sway.

Christina, I may not know you or your situation, but I want to tell you that if you actually fear taking your own life antidepressants won’t make you do it. I am taking an SSRI myself and my psychologist explained to me, that only those really willing to die will then for the first few days under medication have the energy to actually convert it into action. From what you wrote you seem to me like someone who doesn’t want to die, although life might seem torturous or meaningless. It might be worth a shot to talk with someone to get on some form of meds in your case. I don’t know how the situation is in your country, but where I live you have the possibility to be mentored in a hospital for some time after starting on those meds so that people watch over you and you don’t do anything you would not want to, maybe this is possible for you to. I wish you all the best and may god bless you.

@@Suhnik thank you for your kind response. I have a very sensitive system in response to many meds that most people are able to tolerate. Some have led to increased suicidal ideation. In addition I have CPTSD from childhood, from long term torture and abuse. I WOULD like to die, but I am a Christian. One of the difficult aspects of my CPTSD, is radical emotional instability and profound sadness (the awareness of pain & suffering of children and the most vulnerable, as well as my own history, threatens my mental stability) that can last for days, when triggered. I now have daily chronic pain from scoliosis and fibromyalgia which will only get worse as I age. I spend a minimum of 12 hours a day in bed due to debilitating pain. So, given the history of meds and my body, that is why I’m so reluctant to try them.
Ethan was sorry for his sin, repented (turned), and received by faith the free gift that God offered to him.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
“...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23b)
Because of this great salvation, Ethan lived his life serving Jesus. He worked hard to spread this Good News to the world. He is alive in Heaven with Jesus today; and because of this great HOPE in Christ, we know we will see him again soon - not because he was a great kid, but because of his faith in the great Saviour!
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28)
      Your Story
What about you? What if you had fallen to your death that day - What if you were to die today? Where will you spend eternity - Heaven or the Lake of Fire? There will not be any parties in the Lake of Fire. It is a place of eternal torment for those who reject God's Son.
The Word of God is very clear that there is only One Way to Heaven.
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
We did not know that Ethan would step into eternity that day; however, because he put his faith in Jesus alone for his salvation, Ethan was ready to go. Some day - perhaps today - you will take your last breath here on earth, and you will step into eternity. Where you spend eternity is determined by what you do with Jesus Christ. Will you accept Him or reject Him? You are not promised another day or another breath. Eternity begins soon - Are you ready?
“...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…” (Acts 16:31b)
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
“(...behold, now is the day of salvation.)” (2 Corinthians 6:2c)

Here’s a parable that explains sadness:
Once upon a time, there was a mighty oak tree that stood tall and proud in the middle of a vast forest. The oak tree had weathered many storms, and its roots ran deep into the earth, anchoring it firmly in place. It was a beacon of strength and resilience in the forest.
One day, a fierce storm swept through the forest, tearing branches from trees and uprooting saplings. The mighty oak tree held fast against the wind and rain, but as the storm raged on, it began to feel the weight of the world on its shoulders. Its branches groaned and creaked under the strain, and its trunk felt like it might snap in two.
As the storm passed, the oak tree found itself feeling hollow and empty. It had weathered the storm, but at a great cost. Its once vibrant leaves had fallen to the ground, and its branches were barren and lifeless. The oak tree felt like it had lost a part of itself, and it grieved for what it had once been.
Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months, but the oak tree remained bare and lifeless. It felt like it would never be able to grow again, that it would be stuck in its sadness forever. But then, one day, a small sapling sprouted up at the base of the oak tree's trunk. It was small and fragile, but it was full of life and promise.
The oak tree watched as the sapling grew taller, reaching up towards the sun. It felt a glimmer of hope and joy as it realized that even in its sadness, new life could still flourish. The oak tree realized that it had weathered many storms in its long life, and that it would weather this one too. It knew that it would never be the same as it once was, but it was okay with that. It had learned that even in its sadness, life could still find a way to grow and thrive.
The parable of the mighty oak tree is a story about the ebb and flow of life, and how even in our darkest moments, there is always the possibility of new growth and renewal. It reminds us that sadness is a natural part of life, but that it doesn't have to define us.
    Love, Didee.

Have you ever gotten to a point where everything has fallen apart, and been so mired in sadness, anger, pain, and seeing no escape, become so lost in negative thought, anxiety, fear, and a general sense of helplessness, that you surrendered to the thought of there being no hope at all, and that in fact, the universe might be a better place if you didn't exist at all?
And in the midst of that seemingly inescapable situation, knowing that nothing has helped so far, no drug, no religion, no philosophy, and nothing seemed to have any redeeming meaning, at that moment did you ever look at that bottle of pills and think about taking them all? Or did you think about making that gun purchase, because maybe that would be the one way out? One way to end the pain of an existence that doesn't seem to be panning out.
If so, I can tell you that I've been down that path too. And what if right now, I told you that all hope is not gone? What if I told you that at the other end of all that if you can get through it, is something really fucking amazing?
Well, I am telling you that. Everyone suffers in life, perhaps some more than others, or maybe not, but we all do suffer and die. So the real question becomes, "What can I do myself to make the tragedy of life worth living?". What if you could make it meaningful?
What if the way to do that was to have something to aim for and a passion for something? But, what is that thing? Right? Everyone will give you a different answer. Some will go to philosophy to make sense of things. Some will go to a religion. Some may choose to attempt to be more stoic. So, if there is no definitive answer outside of you, that would imply that the answer would be inside of you.
So you may become a seeker. Seek out what it is that would make existence meaningful for you, and aim at that will all of your being. Find what is meaningful for you, by trying and looking at many things. In doing so, you will discover a passion. Allow that to guide your vision. Do so while being aware of our own imperfections and with a humble spirit of gratitude to your own conscience for guiding you in your passions. Find something meaningful to do with that passion, and strive at it with everything you have.
Consider taking the journey to discover your true self, ignoring all outside chatter, being guided by passion and conscience, done in loving or tolerant kindness. Pursuing that goal passionately, going on my own "hero's journey" has allowed me to discover my passions and is the reason I've become an author of books and strike to make art, write stories, design games, create comics, etc. I've been working on these skills with a vision for some years now. I've accomplished a lot, yet there's still so far to go. I just try to practice gratitude for the opportunity.
So, for me personally, doing that outweighs all of life's negative qualities, and suffuses life with enough personal meaning for it to be worth living. Find yourself, pursue your passions, educate yourself well, work hard, and never quit. If you do this, I believe that the thrill of doing so will outweigh anything else life can throw at you. So don't waste time. Do that shit you always wanted to do, and love it the whole time. Just do your gig. Become you.

My depression is most triggered when my grown children have problems. Especially triggered by my dil’s negativity and complaints about marriage and life in general. I know I allow her to bring me down. Can’t seem to help it.

I think Peterson makes a good point of distinguishing between the depressive mind and the person of tragic circumstances, but I’m not too sure if the two can always be distinguished? is it not often the case that a person is in dreadful circumstances precisely because they are neurologically depressed and cannot muster the will to engage with existence & its tragedies?
Though I suppose the takeaway prescription remains the same: take aim at the tragedies that remain unresolved and see how far that gets you, something like that?

I think about the pain it would cause my family. I think about the what ifs. If I had a pre birth contract; things I chose to experience. Loss, suffering. Longing. And if I stayed conscious after death, that I would for sure feel I failed and made the wrong choice.
Then I think about all the beautiful things in life. My life, it has been beautiful. It has been painful. It’s been human. And I feel that is the point. And that always brings me back. It grounds me. I hear Yoda…there is no try. There is only do, or not do. There is only Be. We simply exist, and we get to choose. Perspective matters. I can connect with the part of me that is bigger, wiser. And it snaps me back.
One thing I know for certain, is how connected we all are. We’re part of something. It’s intelligent design that requires observation and reflection. So keep going. Play with it. Lean into it. I send you love.

    • @kt9495

@@ni4694 I’m truly sorry. I know that pain. I fell in love with a man, we spoke almost daily for nearly a decade. I thought we would be together someday, for the rest of our lives. He’s it for me. The kind of love that changes you for the better. But we’re like star crossed lovers and it doesn’t seem meant. I think about him every day, what could be. He brought so much light and without him I feel like I’m missing the best part of myself. I’m tired of the tropes about self love and you must master being alone. I have. It’s all bs. Love saves us. People don’t want to admit that. So while my previous post is meant to be encouraging, and it’s authentic, it sounds detached from the reality of suffering. That’s what I find I have to do to survive it. Detach, but don’t go numb to life. I was numb once and it’s not fun. I feel that is where you are. I hope you can hold her memory and let it bring you some comfort. The longing and the lack is brutal. Sometimes I just tell myself to snap out of it. It usually works, I laugh at my ability to fall into serious mode. So my best advice, you’re here. Make the most of it, for you. It’s a far better feeling to be light. When it’s dark, allow it. Try not to dwell there for too long.

I work at a rehab clinic, every patient gets a depression diagnosis. It´s interessing to think about that lots of these people had actual tradegy happening to them, hence they feel very bad - but that doesn´t mean it HAS to be a depression per se.

    Hello
When you ask people if they are not interested in ideas or things, is that another way of asking if they're higher in aspect openness or intellect, and what does it mean if you're equally high in aspect openness and intellect?
I scored 97th percentile in both and 99th percentile in overall openness to experience.
After reading all the descriptions I feel like this trait most accurately captures the way I thrive and struggle with life, so your thoughts on this would be an invaluable help.
If it helps done of my other 'fringe' scores were 96th in compassion (16th in politeness), 97th in extraversion, 99th in assertiveness and 80th in conscientiousness which if I understand correctly is quite high for having 99th in trait openness to experience.
I hope this makes its way to you, but thank you all the same.

Social interaction is extremely important, re-start your education and surround yourself with good, hard-working people and slowly but surely become like them. Start today. Arrest the misery right away. Don't let the misery compound!

I was married to a covert narcissist for 50 years. He convinced me through gaslighting, that I was crazy. I found a psychiatrist who informed me. I went home and advised my husband I was behaving normally in abnormal circumstances. This changed my life. Filed for divorce. Found new love...twice. Reconnected with my Creator. No longer crazy. All things are relative.
