Nujabes isn't that influential though. I mean I guess he's become influential in this age of the internet and how Lo-Fi Hip Hop has blown up and taken shine to him, but in terms of real music he's not that influential and not really a household name in Hip Hop.
I'm not even going to waste time pointing out the ignorance in your comment. Possibly the most idiotic thing I've read all week and you're clearly not embedded in music culture. Given the content on your youtube channel, I wouldn't expect such an injudicious statement from a person such as yourself. Take Care.
Beautiful. I tear up whenever I see a video with this much effort put into Dilla - His masterpieces provide the incredible soundtrack to them and my mind just races with creativity and freedom. Long live James Yancey.
i, never realized the story behind donuts. hearing that description with the snippet of last donut of the night almost made me burst into tears. fucking dilla man. 11 years later still influencing.
Jesus fucking Christ, some of your best video production yet. Pretty sure I've made that comment before, so you're only getting better. Keep it up man.
You cannot deny that Pre-Yeezus, chop up the soul Kanye was a genius. His ability to produce and sample put me on to Him, Cam, Jay, Wayne, Game etc... He and Just Blaze perfected chipmunk soul and fueled early 2000's Hip-hop.
1) MBDTF 2) College Dropout 3) Late Registration 4) 808s 5) Yeezus 6) Graduation 7) TLOP I think TLOP has a lot of depth but is too abstract for me. I just never fucked with it. And Graduation hasn't aged well imo, still decent but I rarely listen to it. Everything above those two though are the albums I really like.
Kaizer-Man I agree with you on TLOP, but Graduation was good for radio. I prefer the more under appreciated songs from it. "Good Morning", "Everything I Am", "Big Brother". And "The Glory" is one of his best songs imo.
Kanye Producing style is heavily influenced by Q Tip who then influenced Dilla who influence Ye and of Course NO I.D. who practically raised Kanye on how Chop those Soul samples plus there both from Chicago
Donuts is just pure brilliance in every sense of the word. I remember one night I was high out of my mind and I played donuts, I caught onto the story and it was just pure sonic bliss, the beats sounded warm, at times psychedelic, and epic also. He really was something else man, Rest In Peace Dilla.
J Dilla and I share the same Birthday! He was a Master of the craft and I highly respect that heart and soul that he put into music. Im 32 and this is all I've ever done since a teenager ..play /make music. RIP jay dee! Nice Video btw! ; vP
Donuts was also done on Madlib's SP303 given to him while he was in one of his long hospital stays. The way he produced it was more so influenced by Madlib's Beat Konducta series and around this time Madlib was being influenced by Dilla's 90s era big drum phase. If you listen to Champion Sound it's literally Madlib rhyming over his favorite J Dilla beats that he was about to sound like and Dilla rhyming over his favorite Madlib beats that he was about to sound like as well. They influenced each other a lot. So if we're talking about the sonic clash and collaging we really gotta talk about Otis (Madlib) because it's a well known fact within the beat world that Jay Dee was influenced a lot by Madlib during this era. Kanye returning to his soul sample style beats on Otis while sampling Otis Redding is also a salute to Madlib by birth name (Otis Jackson). This is why Kanye made it a mission to work with Madlib for atleast one track on that album (TLOP) to close it off (No More Parties in LA) . Madlib's mystique is so high the rap world still catching on to the fact that he's also got a Jazz band named Yesterday's New Quintet in which he plays all the instruments. He also got monikers for different genres but I'm not gonna give that away. Don't want to ruin the journey for some. Peace yall.
Also, the album is called Donuts because like the beats, the album itself is one big loop as well. Like a donut. That's why the first song is called Outro and the last song is called Intro (now known as Welcome to the Show)
*TWO MAJOR REASONS* for why I love Your channel... The Kanye Content and as well as the visual content, I can sit and watch these videos without audio and still love it as much as I do with audio. The artwork man is just - lol do work with Kanye? 🤔😂😂😂
I've listen to all of the different versions of this Life Of Pablo Album and said to myself, Kanye is GENIUS...I mean like really, he says he is ...but really he is, very artistic and his sings are meaningful

Both died in thier birth months too
Nujabes isn't that influential though. I mean I guess he's become influential in this age of the internet and how Lo-Fi Hip Hop has blown up and taken shine to him, but in terms of real music he's not that influential and not really a household name in Hip Hop.
