  • My Pindo Palm that "died" and I cut off in the spring has come back to life. I didn't even see it because it was behind my cannas and weeds. #hudsonvalley #hudsonvalleyny #palmtrees #trachycarpusfortunei #pindopalm #jellypalm #butiacapitata #tropicalgardening #tropical #hudsonvalleygardens #balmvillenewyork #balmvilleny

Im gkad you didnt dig it up! I had spear pull on one of my palms this year my livistona chanansis or also known as Chinese fan palm. And it didnt do nothing for almost the whole growing season but then i notice ot produced a baby frond and is now giving me a new frond. I learned from this to atleast give them the majority of the growing season and you might ge surprised.

That's great news for you. I think you are correct. Don't make too many rash decisions in the spring. I'm so happy I did not dig up the pindo palm. It was so rotted and the only reason I left it was me just being lazy and I knew I could cover it with cannas.

Chinese Fans are actually known for usually survive spear pull. The youtuber "Tropicalplantparty" actually refered to it as an dieback perennial palm. He lives in a wet zone 6A or 6B and had one for many years close to his house.
If it completely defoliates every single year it will not gain much size though I heard.

@@Rocketman0407 ah yes I watch his videos and talk to him on occasions. I had one spear pull on me and I don't like that there fine if you want them as a shrub in the ground but I'd prefer to have it as a trunking palm.
