Hi I am the one who suggested this song, thank you for taking the time (:
You have perfectly described what has kept me hooked on mathrock and especially toe for a few years now. It's the rhythmic ideas and the polymetric use that don't always line up, but when they do, it gives me chills. It's this push and pull in an "organic" way. And even if there is a lot of repetition, you can always find something else to hook your ears on. Maybe it has something to do with my ADHD that I find it so fascinating.
This is probably the most fun Toe song in my opinion. It's short and super energetic.

Energetic is the word I was looking for. It perfectly describes this track -- like eating a lot of sugar before heading into an amusement park.

I'm not super into math rock either, but Delta Sleep really captured my interest for quite awhile. They are little math rock, little emo. Fantastic rhythm section. Their song Lake Sprinkle Sprankle is what hooked me. Thanks for your analyses!

Nice little track, but it also didn't blow me away. When I look at the math rock bands/tracks I really love they consistently tend to be from the bands that mesh pop hooks with the complex instrumental interplay. Dance Gavin Dance is still my gold standard for that (their new album is really fun, btw). Without the pop hooks a lot of math rock just ends up sounding like clockwork and I want more melody or emotional substance.

Noice. More Toe. Thanks for reacting to this!
Another song I want to see an analysis of is New Sentimentality. Or maybe Tremolo + Delay.
Or as an alternative, maybe their 12-minute YT video "Distance Sessions 2020" it's just two songs. It's not exactly live performance but studio performances but I still love seeing them play. The drums is just the main force of their band.
Oh and I just remembered 宇宙コンビニ which is read as Uchu Conbini. Specifically, I like the "8films" track. 3 Japanese kids doing some catchy math rock. Well they're not kids now and the band isn't around anymore, but they were young back then. I guess they're more math rock than Toe is. Toe has a more post-rock feel to them after all.

Would LOVE some Uchu Conbini. One of my favorite math rock bands ever. 8films would be great and is kind of the obvious choice, but i think セピア色の車窓から or 光の加減で話した would be good picks as well.

I wonder why I felt such urgency to get that thought out 😄

I can understand your sentiment with something missing in math rock, but if you listen to this album in full, or any of TOE's other full-length albums I think it would make a big difference.

I go through phases with math rock. More specifically, the kind of math rock that sounds like overly complicated indie rock(Toe, Covet, Delta Sleep, TTNG, etc). I'll listen to it constantly for a few weeks to a month, but it doesn't quite stick like other genres. I think it has to do with the fact that by design this style doesn't have a hook or something that instantly signals what you're listening to. If a random Toe song was played for me, it would take a moment to remember what song I'm listening to.

This kinda sounds to me like some post-rock with more focus on melody. It also kinda reminds me of the music behind Life Without Buildings but also Portishead and the first Amesoeurs EP. I expected math rock to be more like a technical metalcore or something. Interesting!
Would love to see some neofolk or more experimental music (like coil). Might give a song request but haven't used paypall in a two decades :D

It's been two months since your comment so I can't tell if you care to hear it, but those traits belong pretty squarely to what is known as "mathcore"
Known examples are the bands The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Number Twelve Looks Like You, and The Great Redneck Hope. This last one in particular feels like the songs change sections without warning and they feel kinda like a tongue-in-cheek collage, though given the song titles it's probably the intended effect

Great catch! On a second listen I'm hearing a 15 beat phrase that is probably written in 15/16 but could also be written in alternating 4/4 and 7/8.
