Bit of a change from gameplay footage and apologies for the delay in uploads - I've been away for a week or so on a course so these videos are quick uploads before I revert to capturing gameplay footage from less common console games and old phones :-)
Back in the mid to late 90's EDGE magazine in the UK would occasionally covermount a CD with previews of upcoming games. I used to watch these previews over and over - it really was an exciting time in gaming & with only very slow dial up that tied up the home phone line these video clips were way better than screenshots in the magazine or waiting for hours to download a massive 20Mb file :-)
While having a sort out I found the CD in my loft (it is one of 4 that EDGE gave away covering the games etc of that period) and was originally a RPL format file so I've converted and upscaled as best as I can. This comes from the second cover mount CD,
This is an early preview of another cute platformer from RARE. This was Conker back when it was Conker 12 Tales before his Bad Fur Day makeover. Always interesting to see what might have been.
Let me know if you'd like to see more of these. I can probably compile into a longer video if that is easier?
All copyrights belong to their respective owners - Rare, N64, Nintendo, EDGE, Future Publishing etc and I'll gladly remove if 30 seconds of 25 year old compressed video is an issue :-)
As always if you enjoy this video let me know. Also let me know if there are particular games or systems you'd like to see.
As always this is uploaded under the Fair Use Policy - no money is being made from this video.

This looked really good to be honest.

So crazy that this very well could have been the game they’d finish and publish, and Rare would have just had a random mediocre kids game as part of their legacy. It was deep in development and basically just being finished by the time they de used to switch gears and turn it into Bad Fur Day.

@Luschan - it really is fascinating. I wonder if the success of South Park at this time had an influence? It definitely distinguishes it from just being another cutesy N64 platformer.

Too bad. I wish it was a happy kids cute kids game. Maybe they should make one with conkers little brother/cousin. Notice how conker still has that push move animation in bad fur day that was meant for shaking trees ?

Eh, in my opinion they should've stick with original concept...

Rare felt that Conkers Quest wouldn't have stood out compared to Banjo Kazooie.

Think Rare wanted to stand out from the glut of similar cutesy 3D platformers that were available (some from their own studio) plus the popularity of South Park at the time probably had an influence too.

@@greyfox1127 I believe I've heard it was all Nintendo's fault... somehow. Not sure. Been a while since I've read that.

@@SimpleImprovement No, Nintendo had very little to due with Conker's development. Chris Seavor was in full control when making Conker.
