From what I have gathered the song they sing for the contest is like super famous in Thailand, so when they started playing it the audience was like "wrong genre go home fools!" but then they switch it up to be a folk version of the song which is why the audience changed their minds so quickly.

This became one of my favourite bls pretty quickly. It takes the typical high school/ music plotline and actually does it RIGHT
The reason they booed so bad at first is because the type of contest was for folk music from the country and it has a specific sound. I watched another BL where they played this type of music and its a whole other genre. Its like going to a country music festival and they played hard core rap.
It’s a little more than that. The original is a well known single in Thailand, and it starts really aggressively, which instead Chnizhilla starts really softly, and it’s not until they pick up the beat that the crowd starts to like their rendition of it!

Gosh, it sure is nice to watch a BL about HS students where the characters' biggest worries amount to how to avoid getting in trouble at school and how to not disappoint their parents. Much more calming than watching high-school students worry about who will get murdered next.
Talking about a sountrack, the cast recorded 14 songs (covers and originals, for 12 episodes) all being fully included as part of the story.... and not just background music.

Some of them are really playing at times (they all took lessons so that could look right when they were filmed), but the staged numbers were recorded in the studio by professional musicians and then overlaid on the soundtrack. That’s very typical in the industry. All the actors do their own singing at least!

@@wooshyu Great question! I’m thinking they are probably going to be singing and dancing on stage while others play. That’s what they did for their live debut a week ago on one of the School Rangers episodes (well, we didn’t see any instruments, so it would have been pre-recorded backing tracks that time, but I hope it will be live music at the concerts, even if it’s by others. I think it’s good enough to have them singing!!)

After that comment, many people try to photoshopped his picture into many forms…
this show is going to be very musical be warned. every character has a song. 1-2 per episodes. we got 9(?) new songs I'm pretty sure and other covers. theres like 14 total i think. The music in this show is TOP TIER.

Finally here for the rewatch. Love Mama Gun. Tinn is possibly my favourite secret crush ever. Too cute. The band is a hilarious bunch of bumblers and they were so cute in the first year flashback.

I avoided it till ep6 because of my prejudice against it being a high school series on top of a thai bl 🥹. But when I watched it I binged it and now I'm missing it so much. We will get them on our skyy s2

Ballroom dance is the part of P.E. curriculum in Thailand. As a thai myself, I also learned it in senior year. And my partner is the same gender as me, because we’re friends and teacher okayed to whatever if we’re get things done. It’s not a big deal in my school too.

Finally! I was waiting for like the longest time, i kept thinking when is Topher going to pick up this series cause it's so gooddd. I've seen ppl on the internet who didn't want to watch it because they thought it's just like previous high school BLs...when it's not! The show is such a feel good comfort show. Truly a high school BL show done right. A high school series made for high schoolers, where instead of scandalizing conflicts, they showed true teenagers issues. It's like they combine the series "Love Sick" and the movie "Suckseed" and produced it better. Green flags all around! Hope you enjoy watching it! 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Yes. And it is a U.S. chain, a competitor of KFC. The international brand name is Texas Chicken. Growing up, the one near me was Church's Chicken. Nowadays, it seems as if the brand styles itself Church's Texas Chicken. (The packaging looks the sameas it does in the episode.) The brand originated decades ago in Texas, having been founded by a Mr Church. Hence, both names. Someone felt that "Church" [name] would be confused abroad with "church" [place] but the name Texas would avoid that confusion. That's marketing for 'ya.
So, my fellow U.S.-based BL enthusiasts, if you have a Church's Chicken near you, and you want to support the production of Thai BL--yeah, I somehow doubt whether the home office in Texas knows what type of content the Thai branch spends its marketing money on? So probably won't matter. Then again, if you crave a change of pace from Popeye's, KFC, or El Pollo Loco, "supporting Thai BL" makes a handy excuse, eh?

Topher you are going to enjoy the journey. I thouroughly enjoyed this series so much and was saddened by it ending last Friday. Texas Chicken is the Thai branding of Churches Chicken in the US which is called Church's Texas Chicken now.

The one thing I’d say about the “unfair advantage” thing is… yes, but. I think this show should be classified as a "soft musical" given they transition into song as part of the plot quite often but it is not as grand, flamboyant and theatrical as a typical musical.

So Gun's mom just showed up in Moonlight Chicken 7 to mother Li Ming, and I really had to concentrate hard to remember which show I was watching. Because no way I was going to repeat the fiasco of yelling at the TV "but he can't speak!" like happened that one time when Tinn spoke, and I needed two minutes to comprehend why.
