Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection Just Got A GREAT News Update!

- In this Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection gameplay news update video we breakdown the fact that Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is one of the most preordered games on PlayStation right now. This all comes on the heels of EA cancelling Respawn's upcoming Star Wars FPS Bounty Hunter game. These early returns for Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection prove that the demand for Star Wars games is still very high as long as it is a game that fans want.
Last video we broke down new gameplay features which sees Hero Assault come to all 22 ground maps in Star Wars Battlefront 2 (originally this game mode was only available on Tatooine). Recently, we discussed the apparent lack of cross play for Star Wars Battlefront and what it might mean for the longevity of the game. earlier this week we got a surprise announcement of the new Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection, which features both Battlefront 2004 and the original Battlefront 2. Recently, we discussed all of the confirmed gameplay features such as online multiplayer, bonus maps, new heroes, new game modes, and the return of classic Battlefront game modes such as Galactic Conquest, Conquest, Assault, Hero Assault, Capture the Flag, and Space Assault.
Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is incredibly important for the future of Star Wars games. One of the most requested games is Star Wars Battlefront 3 and if this new Battlefront game performs well it could end up being one of the catalysts for Lucasfilm Games to make a Battlefront 3 or at least some sort of new Star Wars Battlefront game. This Star Wars Battlefront release will also be one of the few Star Wars multiplayer game options available in the current generation as the recent LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and Star Wars Jedi Survivor (as well as the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws) are all single player experiences and do not feature online multiplayer.
Needless to say, we are incredibly excited for the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection and can't wait to get our hands on the game and relive the golden era of Star Wars games when it releases in a few weeks!

Yea, I'm surprised people even gave EA's battlefronts a chance. Cause like I mean, no, their version gave off a whole different vibe, 2 disappointments. Wich is not surprising since EA is better with RTS games than anything else. Dipping into others is like trying to shove whole turkeys into an already stuffed pig.
This is what they do with every franchise they work on. They only think about how they can milk their fanbases and don’t focus on making great games
EA got butthurt over Disney pulling the deal, then went on a power trip and probably fired everyone in their SW department. And then went further and said "We don't want licensed IP's anymore" which translates to "we don't know how to handle licensed products and are giving up on it".
Based on the company's behavior, I imagine middle management and up is populated entirely by game hating former frat-bros, empowered by nepotism and a bachelor's in business, and coked-up to the gills.
They basically threw the toys out of the pram.
I would rather EA give it up and move on than see them stay committed to the SW IP. They are not the company they were years ago when the classics came out and the Jedi Series has been the best I have seen next to new BF2 and yet BF2 had to go through a launch disaster to be a good game. So... yea, EA can just leave the IP alone because they do not handle it well at all.

Battlefront and Battlefront 2 classic are among the best Star Wars games ever made. It was way ahead of its time with the space battles and ground assaults.
This game is in the hearts of many Star Wars fans who grew up with the prequel era including myself, couldn’t tell you how much I spent on instant action or galactic conquest.
I’m so excited for the release, and it looks like many others are too! Can’t wait for the 14th! 🙌
I only played Battlefront 1 for like an hour or so at my cousin's house. I bought Battlefront 2 on launch day (Still have the gamestop pre-order skin on my original xbox) and I played easily thousands of hours throughout the years. If galactic conquest and the story mode are not online, that would be the biggest letdown for me, since none of my older friends/family live around me anymore, so we would have to play online.
@josephrichter2104 Those modes only ever supported split screen and i highly doubt they'll change it sadly.
Even the PC version has had failed attempts to make even campaign work but to mediocre effort. Probably an issue akin to Halo 1 needing serious engine work for it to be conceivable.

If they were to include both of the PSP exclusive Star Wars games as DLC, this would probably be one of the better Star Wars collections around. Personally, I think that all three rogue squadron games should be next

Renegade Squadron was the only one that let you change between ground and space battles in the middle if a fight!

if the fact that battlefront classic collection doing so well even before launch doesnt show developers that we want battlefront over anything else star wars then I dont think anything will show them. this is literally just a port of the ps2 era and its doing great, this shows what we want.

@chasemathes931 A Mount & Blade Bannerlord/ space version of Bannerlord would be a nice entry for a Star Wars game. Heck, maybe make a few different ones around that idea. 1,2,3 as one, 4,5,6 as another n so on. I know starwars has an RTS game, but would still be neat. Having rank ups that switch a standard trooper into a different one.

CWA was a big part of my childhood with Star Wars, as was the two classic Battlefront games and the Clone Wars animated series. Fortunately there is a small team of fan devs that have been working on a project named CWA Emu which will be both a ground-up remake of the CWA game and servers as we remember it, but also will hopefully have future content added as requested, all for free of course (legally it's the only route).
This is the first time in years I preordered a game and I am happy that I’m not alone, can’t wait to relive my childhood

A Star Wars fps multiplayer title would do wonders. Good movement, shooting mechanics isn’t a hard concept. I guarantee you if they made a Star Wars fps that played similar to cod it would get tons of praise. Gun customization, character customization and if they want more $$ as these companies do, cosmetic mtx is how you do it. A clone trooper with the troll face for a helmet for 15$ would sell 10k in less than a minute.

I agree they could basically just clone Cod or Battlefield and make it Star Wars and people would be thrilled. Even better if they could manage to consider and fix some of the problems people have with those games. And I agree that customization is where it's at. But I don't want to see stupid pop culture crap mixed in with Star Wars, things need to stay accurate. There are literally thousands and thousands of possible customizations that are possible just from Canon accurate material. Any half decent Star Wars Nerd Like Me could write them a book about all the options.

I don't even consider Squadrons a game so much as a paid-to-play open Beta.
Eclipse is either going to be canceled or drastically stripped of its ambitious vision to something more simple and depressingly linear.
Squadrons was decent for what it was, but I definitely think they should have updated it more.

The literal second I saw the bf collection I preordered it. Assuming it’s a literal port, it’ll be perfect. I heard there’s additional content and as long it’s a addition, it’ll be fine. It’s gonna be extremely hard to fuck up a port and with it being such a beloved game, I’m sure it’s gonna be amazing. Can’t wait to play it ❤️

I definitely agree that EA absolutely fumbled the ball when it came to the Star Wars ip, they barely did anything with it at all. Huge waste of time and resources. They should have released the Battlefront games as Trooper oriented shooters with a little bit of Heroes content, then released a big Heroes versus Villains game in the style of OverWatch, then released a casual starfighters game and also a more complicated flight simulator type of game, then the Iden versio campaign as a game, probably a bounty hunter game, then Jedi Fallen order, etcetera.

Not at all surprised. Nostalgia is a huge element for a lot of people. Star Wars has rabid fans from each generation. And newer fans finally get a chance to play a classic game they've likely heard so many good things about on their modern consoles.

I think the big mistake that Dice made with the new Battlefronts, was not designing the game first as capture the command post, like the originals. They basically turned BF into a mindless run forward and shoot game, almost no strategy. This killed the replay value. Ppl got board quick. Also, making it so the ppl that were able to get points quickly got to play as the heros for so long wrecking casuals, frustrating ppl even more.
I am EXTREMELY excited for the future of Star Wars games! With EA basically making it known that they plan to leave the Star Wars IP alone, Disney may buy/sell it elsewhere to much more passionate hands🙌🏽 🎉 Imagine Insomniac for example getting their hands on an opportunity to make their mark in the galaxy!!! I’m full of hope that whoever comes next will be fans that’ll do it right ❤
This just goes to show how much of a Power Move this actually was! We all want Star Wars Battlefront 3 but bringing back THE BEST Star Wars game of its Era and throwing in 64player online with new maps and characters is sooo good! And the sales that they will get for a 20YEAR OLD PORT will hopefully show EA and other developers for Star Wars games, what direction they should go. They need to take a good look at our OG Star Wars games and take that level of quality and put it into the new modern Star Wars games. If EA made a Star Wars BF3 with Star Wars BF2 Classic content... its too good to be true, but if they did this, it would be incredibly successful.
I've always thought EA was one of the worst companies in gaming, and they've done nothing to change my mind on that so far. I still can't believe the FPS mandalorian game was canned when that game had the potential to be absolutely amazing, especially when it's being made by Respawn, the devs of Titanfall and Titanfall 2, so it would've been at the very least an extremely fluid and smooth moving game. I can only wait for the day EA doesn't have the rights for Star Wars games, they've had the license for 11 years at this point and have made less than 8 games, when they're sitting on an absolute gold mine. We've had Battlefronts 1 and 2, Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor (not to hate on fallen order it is a really good game), and Squadrons - of which none are even actively supported anymore unless they plan on releasing DLC for Survivor. There's just so much untapped potential it honestly hurts to see. Not even thinking very deep or hard into things I can think of several Star Wars games that could absolutely sell well: Battlefront III, Imperial Commando, 1313 or an alike game, a game set during the Old Republic era, there is just so much they could do that would do well in the market but nope, we get absolutely shafted by a company too well used to shafting the people who play its games.

Here’s my thing, battlefront is selling because it was. Great game, but more than that it is super nostalgic and that sells well. I think they should develop something more accessible like an open world, because what is one game with a massive player base after years and years? Skyrim. If they did something like a cross between swtor and Skyrim they would have a massive sell, but I could be off base

@@paulallen2680 I think the premise is super promising! Bounty hunters was a great game and if we get to play as a “Mando” or fett type character it’ll be super cool. A few things that worry me is if they do something like the story line just being a chain of bounties like shadow of Mordor the game may be a bit repetitive and get boring, or if they don’t offer a variety of play styles for different weapons well (pistol, rifleman, heavy gunner, sniper etc.) it could feel a bit weak. I’m also worried they won’t invest enough in a compelling story but it could be great!
Ea continues to take people off Star Wars games, continually showing us they don’t give a fuck about there fan base and players, absolutely ridiculous, and I can’t wait for them to lose exclusivity

I think one game that you guys seriously have under looked or haven't mentioned that recently came out without announcement was Star Wars: Dark Forces Remastered that came out on Steam 2-3 days ago. I recently picked it up and have been playing the hell out of it and re-living my childhood almost 20 years later. I think the Star Wars Battlefront Collection will have it's initial hype and audience who will be there for it's launch and subsequent days after, but as with most titles, people's attention will turn elsewhere once the nostalgia wears off. I hope that mod support will be included to help the longevity of the game. If so, the future of games set in the Star Wars franchise will have a better and brighter future than the already dark one that was left by EA.

Star Wars should be an open source for all, not be hidden behind exclusivity. They don't see a future in it? Perhaps not for them, which is their loss. If they mean overall? They will have to eat their words
The reason the classic edition is doing so well is because there are no micro transactions and the boards are designed in a way that reflects the artistry and epic of Star Wars. The new games just seemed to be cash grabs. Right or wrong, the perception is there.

There’s tons of ideas and new games they can bring out and work on, they just don’t want to because by them releasing minimum expectation games us the Star Wars fans are always asking for more but getting the bare minimum which means EA still keeping hold of the SW licensing

EA lost exclusivity to the Star Wars License, but can purchase licensing if they would like to continue Star Wars game development, but as disclosed earlier this week it appears they want to develop owned IPs vs licensing.
Classic battlefront two had the second highest player population on original the Xbox. EA really doesn’t think Star Wars FPS performs that well??

Every video I see about this classic collection, 90% of the gameplay being shown seems to be Heroes versus Villains. And the last two iterations of Battlefront that flopped so hard ended up focused almost completely on heroes, ignoring the trooper play that is the foundation of the game. Coincidence?
Because some people only touched that mode in the original to the point it became the most played mode in the end.
Even so the OG BF2 did it way better than the new titles. Still, people gotta show some trooper gameplay.
It is weird. Battlefront is an infantry focused franchise yet these goobers only show the heroes. I personally believe battlefront 2004 was the best battlefront.
@@CommanderRedEXEmost people play infantry focused modes with hero assault being a dead mode. On the pc version at least
