Dexterity isn't defense, by the way. It's your accuracy stat.
Lol so he confused Dex with Agil if you played a lot of games or just looked at the meanings of the words in general you would see they are pretty similar.
YourPalHDee All the RPGs I played Dexterity is for ranged weapons rather than close ranged weapons, which are for Strength. Sometimes even Dex did take the role as speed if Agi wasn't a stat in said game. While agility was the speed of your character. This was the first RPG that I played that had Dex as accuracy and Agi as your dodge stat. I don't even recall XC1 being that way, but I could be wrong.

pretty sure AGI was dodge stat in XC1 too since i remember stacking it on most of the character so they wouldn't die.

The article Chugga is talking about is the Kotaku review. it's a trainwreck and written by someone who's self confessed to not liking the Xeno series at all.
and Kotaku is known for being the worst especially with Nintendo games
I just don't care about the opinion of someone who doesn't like the series. It's irrelevant unless you follow his specific likes and dislikes. His entire review is tinged with negatives biases so unless you also dislike XC and XCX there's very little stock in anything he has to say.
SuperDragon978 I mean I would rather trust a review that is neutral to the game than someone who’s known not to enjoy a series. You can’t remove bias whether it’s good or bad though because you already have certain expectations
Why do some people care so much about a review? Most people will buy this game anyways despite a review. I'm not enjoying P5 right now but does that stop other people from enjoying the game? Just seems like something not worth your time when playing the game should be worth your time.
Even though I don't like his viewpoints, I'm glad the game is getting some criticism. That way Takahashi and Monolith Soft can fix some of their missteps here and do even better in their next game (even if this game is already great).
From someone who never played Xenoblade before, being around halfway done so far I can say that it's just brilliant.
I'm absolutely loving my time with XC2 so far. Its so addictive. The story is deep and fantastic and epic. The music (oh my god the MUSIC) is stunning. Its amazing that the Switch has given me three of my fave games this gen (BOTW, Odyssey and XC2) all in the space of a year. However I know for a fact that despite all the praise this game is getting and will get, it will remain an underrated masterpiece.
MonsterKat This shit annoys the fuck out of me. Final Fantasy VII ran at 24 fps CONSTANTLY and is widely considered one of the best games ever made. Now a game comes out that can be played on tv in 1080p or anywhere in 720p and "it needs fixing"?! Gamers are so shallow nowadays.

@@MalGK24 Over the past few months I've come to share the same opinion as you.
Rex's voice is really the only annoying one (at least to me). I like Nia's, Mórag's and especially Zeke's voices and Tora is kind of annoying but I can deal with him.
Chuggaconroy got me into a lot of the games I enjoy today thanks to his very early Let’s Plays. Earthbound is my favorite game of all time and I probably wouldn’t have played it when I did if it weren’t for Chugga. It’s such a great game!

Played XC and XCX, the first one especially impressed me. I still think about the plot, and the filosophical questions the game throws at you. Completely magical. That said, I looked forward to this game ever since I played the first one, and of course I bought a Switch especially for this game.
I got 12 hours into it right now, and I’m still in the first town, the hours just fly by playing this game. As far as the story is concerned, I’m already sold. Music is superb as well. I can’t see anything wrong with this game. It’s a perfect game, much like it’s prequel.

I will say that one thing I really like about XC2 (Though I don't have it - yet), is the choice of English VA for Rex. He's Northern! Northern accents are so rarely used as British voices. That accent is undeniably Yorkshire, and it's pretty damn refreshing.
Ugh I get so irritated when I randomly see people not buy such an amazing game SIMPLY because of the art style. I really don't see why people get so butt hurt over an anime style. It's literally like they are scared if they play an "anime like" game they are some sort of weaboo or something. Just in general, I simply don't understand why people can't be accepting and just look past or try things. I've seen too many times when people completely disregard a game or film just because it has anime like art or anime like story or whatever. It's really irritating as stated above. I wouldn't mind if someone had a legitimate reason for not playing the game like maybe the story isn't to their preference or other things, but not playing or buying something that is clearly good because of the art is in my opinion utterly ridiculous.

I like many anime shows and movies but I’m not sold on the character designs for this game.
and the sad thing is we been through this before, which was also a nintendo game, do you know how hated the art style for wind waker was when it was first annonuce? a ton and now its one of the most loved in the whole series
David Richard I wasn’t either but the game is good enough so that you don’t really focus on it. After playing it, I’ve actually appreciated the art style
Hm. I kind of agree, but I'm also kind of hypocritical, because I'm sort of the opposite now. If I see an anime art style, I'm immediately intrigued and start looking more into it; but if it's a western style, gritty, realistic looking game, I instantly shy away from it and usually don't give it a second thought.
But maybe that's just because anime style games tend to be RPGs, and JRPGs are just the best, whereas western style games tend to be shooters or action games, which are not my favorite.
I’m a bit shocked that Emile didn’t realize sooner about the elemental weakness since there was a boss where they emphasized their weakness and showed that element
My only complaint so far is the map those who played know what I'm talking about.
TheChaosStormBringer Pressing X when not in combat is a shortcut to it and helps a bit. It is a bit unwieldy and if they seperate fast travel from area map it would have helped.
I don't know. I think it's fine, but to a lack of a tutorial guide for reference, people will eventually forget the little arrow pointing up or down. If you're on ground level, no arrow should appear otherwise, but trying to use the compass without the mini-map... Yeah, it's horrid.
Unrelated, but my one hope is that Monolith starts developing XCX 2 after this. The game has too many loose ends to not warrant a sequel.

i hope so too, but how would they handle the overworld? i dont want to explore the same 5 continents all over again. maybe they either discover like world beneath the ground, or we end up going to the moon or some nearby planet. idk, i just dont want to explore the same parts of mira again
I definitely will buy a sequel to X. It left too many unanswered questions.
Gramps is voiced by the same guy who voiced Andre of Astora in Dark Souls. I’ve always adored his voice. He is so fun to listen to
Regarding the tutorials, can't you just buy them to the information merchants??
They don't really go into detail with the informant, they just have a brief description of what the topic is.
Definitely bad when you were broke af, lol. At least now there's stuff you can look up. Definitely was harder early on, but I still never even had too much of a problem most of the time, even when I was thinking the same as my dude with confusion the elements of the enemies.
Those scraps of info only offer two lines' worth of information! And most of it is pretty much common sense and doesn't explain the more vague or confusing parts of the combat system. Such as setting up blade 3 combos! Ugh...
A. You shouldn’t have to buy tutorials
B. Those tutorials are literally 2 sentences and are useless

Dexterity is Accuracy.
Defence is bound to the blade you use and is split in Physical and Ether Defence. It's a percentage in XC2; not a flat number.
The landscapes and enviroments in this game
are so, really amazingly cool to look at.
Dexterity was explained perfectly in one sentence once you get to Gormot (right after the scene where you wake up in Pyra's lap and before you set out searching for Gramps and Nia)
I've put in about 200 hours so far and I'm still not bored. My favourite switch game for sure.
10:52 My volume setup is this: I've turned off the battle narrations completely. I turned the ingame voices (during battles) down a bit so they're less overwhelming, but I can still get a sense of what my party is doing. The BGM is set pretty high (who can fault me wanting to listen to all that awesome music?), but the cutscene voices are markedly louder to compensate. In my opinion, the English VA is better than Japanese for this game. I especially love Akhos' voice so far! (I'm only on Chapter 3 right now.)
I get that people think Pyra is too sexualized design wise...but at least her personality is anything but sexualized. Shes really charming so far for me.
Honestly her super sweet and nice personality has caused me to not even notice the sexualized design, it didn't even occur to me that it was

Me and my cousin were discussing what Pyra and Mythra would look like if they got redesigned, and we thought that Pyra should look more "princessy" and Mythra should have more armour to fit their personalities and the fact that Mythra is objectively better at battles.

Since I literally just got the tutorial on the stats last night and dexterity was the stat I was least sure of I can say with near 100% certainty it is not defense it is your accuracy (I think they learned from the original that having evasion and accuracy tied to agility makes the stat to important and can narrow your character builds too much)
Dexterity is hit accury guys :) It would help on Tora though, as he is filling his meter better, and being able to use arts more often :P

Got the special edition today and man is it awesome. The art book is massive and gorgeous and the steel book is probably one of my favorite steel books I’ve ever owned.
This game is just incredible. The story had me from the start. The story, voice acting, combat, and music are all just top notch. I’m so glad this game made its release date of this year, was worried earlier in the year that it wouldn’t make it.
We got Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, Samus Returns, Mario + Rabbids, ARMS and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 from Nintendo this year. They have absolutely killed it. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 could possibly be one of my favorite JRPG’s in a long time.
If you love JRPG’s you have to check this game out! It’s just that good..

it almost seems like theres an order to which the rare blades drop. the concept sounds stupid but almost all the early game footage (in the gomott province) that had rare blades seemed to have borias and godfrey more often than other rare blades.

Only complaint I hav on it, is Rex's scream and attacking yells. Everything else im ok or decently enjoying in VA so far. Not as bad as ppl thought from the trailers tbh. I even got used to Nias more classy adult voice pretty quick, felt natural to me. lol

I actually like the English VA way better. The choices as far as actors go seem better, like their voices fit their characters better. Pyra's english VA is so much better than the japanese VA, for example (in my opinion of course).
This is one of those rare games I might actually pick up a guide for just for refreshers on the controls and then finding all the hidden treasures after my first play-through.
Looks like "Skies of Arcadia" playstyle meets FFX "sphere grid" level up mechanic? My first and second most favourite games of all time!

Crystal tips:
- Save the boosters for rare crystals. (Boosters serves only to increase the rate of the type of blade you wanna get)
- When using a crystal, before MAKE SURE to boost your luck status using the 20+ luck accessory for example. The more luck you have, the better the chance of getting a rare blade.
- Don't be afraid of using your normal crystals. You'll get plenty of them.
- You can get rare blades with normal crystals, but also can get normal blades with rare crystals. (So again, make sure to increase your luck status before rolling).
Remember the "chuggaconroy" challenge for Mario and luigi? Well, now there's one for xenoblade 2! Take these simple steps and your playtime of this game will be a living nightmare!
1: Never use enemy weaknesses.
2: Never level up your blades' skills
Maybe more to come!

Never use a non-required blade until you're 100% required to do so for a field skill.

Never use the healer. Never use abilities or items or unreqired things. Never get hit or take damage or di- actually don't do that one, you'll fail when you get to pyra. Oh, and never feel emotions. I have too many ways to make a overly difficult for the sake of being near impossible.
You buy the tutorials from an npc in each village. They have a little newspaper icon above their head.

The exact same thing happened to me as with Chuggaaconroy. My roommate kept making fun of the game's story for the first few chapters which actually made me think it wasn't that great. However, looking back at the beginning of the game made me realize that the story was a lot better than my roommate gave it credit for.

I think that part of the reason tutorial reviews weren't added is because they sometimes refer to what you were doing when the tutorial showed up.
After 130 plus hours, I finished the main story and love it. Now I come here to listen the discussion! 😊

The inside of a titan and I don't know how to chain attack
I've been stuck with that too
Chain attack are activated with the + button and are unlocked at around lvl 24ish (if I remember correctly) through a certain story event.
The battle guide (the d-pad tutorials) says you can chain attack by pressing plus, but I can't do it either. I'm at the same point

If I remember correctly, you gain the ability to chain attack during your first fight with Akhos
i think dexterity was ur ability to hit with high accuracy, i read it somewhere in the game. agility is how u avoid the attack and defense is just gonna depend on ur hp

I just heard that one scene with Gramps and Rex in the beginning in Japanese, and I laughed so hard when I heard Gramp long crazy sounding Ah! Haha!
Also Nia sounds so much like Syrenne from the Last Story when she says her line after you lose a battle or fall to your death!
Has anyone else here played The Last Story and hears Syrenne when Nia says "I swear!"?
I know it's not for everybody but I loved this game. My two favorites is this and Golf story!!
I remember Jon streaming Xenoblade X and he was riffing on it HARD.
Y do people hate the voice acting so much? The vast majority is really good. Sure the animations and the voice acting are almost never in sync, just don't let that affect you. The voice acting itself is fine
As long as i know who is speaking and see what the character is doing, i really don't care if it is out of sync. I'd rather let the voice actors speak the lines the way they feel fit rather than bound to trying to sync their words with the character's lips
The lip sync needs work and some lines could use some more oomph, but in general the dub's solid. XBC and XBCX were better, but this isn't bad either. There are moments of stiff delivery, but it's nothing horrible to my ears. I've heard worse. This is nothing at all like ARC RISE FANTASIA or BATEN KAITOS I.
Turnajon the majority in this game is better than X and some of the original. Props to Morag and Nia, their voice actresses were incredible in this game.

Oh, I couldn’t agree more about the English language! Your average, flat Midwestern American accent may be good for learning the language, but it’s so BORING to actually hear! You get so many more interesting colors of it in Europe...
Homura Akemi lol there are tons of differen american accents... the plain one is just the only one in movies/ games etc or really dramatized (generic) southern accents

I’m not very far in but I’m really enjoying. Personally though I think I’ve grown too attached to the first game to ever have anything dethrone it as my favourite game of all time, I just get so much joy when going back to it. Still loving XC2 however, it’s really good and I LOVE the welsh and Scottish voices, I don’t hear those enough in media.
I started reading the subtitles from the game instead of actually listening to what you they had to say. God I wish I had this game.

I wish I could get this game before Christmas...
So far its a 9/10 for me. I'm still on chapter 3 so i'm pretty early but I really loving everything about the game. Only a few hiccups such as the sometimes cringy anime tropes (especially poppi and tora) bring the score down. However, the combat, the rpg system, the character progression and the storya re really good so far. And don't let me forget about the worlds. They are absolutely stunning, espcially the part when I'm in, inside the titan's stomach. Its jaw-dropping to look at. Moreover, the music is so amazing. But one thing is if you don't like anime or jRPGs I don't think you will like this game.
PS: The voice-acting doesn't bother me because I set it to japanese and I can understand japanese because my parents are japanese

Someone (who hates this game in general) said that the ending cutscene is bad. Can someone who has watched (or ideally finished the game somehow) clarify and tell me their thoughts without spoiling it?
I'm 8 hours in, really loving it so far. What's a little disappointing is that they didn't sub the dialogue after battles. The quotes in Japanese are simple enough for me to understand, but it's an inconvenience for those who don't speak any Japanese and want to understand them.
It's also a bit sad the handheld mode looks so much worse than in docked mode though since I usually play on handheld 80% of the time... well, guess it's time to stick with the TV for this game welp.

Graphics, performance and English VA are all kind of in inconsistence but I am having fun with it. Overall, I like the story, gameplay and characters.
To clarify here because even Emile and Derrick seemed confused about stats, and I just went through that tutorial recently: Dexterity is accuracy, and Agility conversely is evasion.
They actually patch this game? In X they just left the game in it's stake. Didn't address few critical bugs at all.
Unless X, this game is bound to receive DLC, and we can hope that along with it, it can receive some improvement. Nothing sure until we get said patches, though.

I really wish chugga would upload a full walk through of him playing xenoblade2. I wanna watch a lets play of it cuz his was SOOOOO good for the first game and he hasn't uploaded one for xenoblade 2 and I kinda don't want to watch anyone else do it but at the same time I'm tired of waiting :(

Spoiler-free, Short comparison between XC1 and XC2
Story: Xenoblade 1 is better, but xenoblade 2 comes incredibly close. It's very subjective.
Worlds: In terms of originality, Xenoblade 1. In terms of atmosphere, Xenoblade 2 (chapter 7 is incredible, my god it's just glorious).
Gameplay: Xenoblade 2 is SO SO MUCH better. It's very complex, but if you know what you're doing, to blows xenoblade 1 out of the water.
Graphics: 100% subjective.
Collection: Xenoblade 1 is all about luck via item orbs. Xenoblade 2 is very forgiving and has minimal chance. I found myself with all the items I wanted/needed without going out of my way to find them. Blades, on the other hand, are a different story, but you really don't need the best ones to beat all the super-bosses.
Overall: Any time I try to go back to Xenoblade 1, I can't. Even if the story and stuff is better, the gameplay of Xenoblade 2 makes up for it.
1 had better characters than 2.
Sure the characters in 2 have consistent screen time,but are by no means better than 1's.
The beginning had so much Xenosaga, it was almost a 2-hour back-to-back fangasm! (Well, except for the early sidequests, the Nopon, and the game of hide-and-seek, that is.) If the game keeps it up... my Switch is going to wear out way ahead of time.
I'm not too hyped about the music yet - only just cleared Chapter 1 - but I suppose there's a lot more to discover.
