2:25 really seems like they threw any fancy looking glass into this video. I'm no expert but even I know that's a glencairn glass for whiskey. I don't think any professional wine sommelier would ever drink high quality wine out of this type of glass.
Honest question: Does the type of glass REALLY matter? I've always seen the "matchings" of glass types to different spirits or types of wines, but I've never quite understood it.
@@panzerkiller13 Yes, certainly. Not as much as the wine glass makers would have you think, but if I had it my way there would be four types of glasses in my cabinet: one with more vertical sides for big reds that benefit from oxygen, one with more pinch at the top for lighter reds and whites to focus the aromas to the nose while you sip, champagne tulips (different from flutes with their straight sides) that have a wider rim so you can enjoy the more complex aromas of the champagne that a flute will keep locked up in the wine, and finally a dessert wine glass, not only are they cute but they serve to contain the alcohol by limiting the amount of evaporation while also focusing the rich aromas while you sip away after dinner. With that being said, if you don't often drink champagne or ports and sherries that you can get by with one style of glass, a rhone blanc or bourgogne blanc glass. Often called a chardonnay glass in America. It is a good blend of size and taper that fits the tasting requirements of most still wines.
The World's Most Expensive Wine is a bottle of home made blueberry wine done by me. Hand picked wild blueberries from High Tatras. The whole production is limited to 5 pcs. and it is so expensive that even Jeff Bezos had to split with Elon and Bill :)
I'm somewhat of a wine drinker but in moderation of course. Sweet wines are what I like or rosé if you will. One wine I would love to taste is Amontillado
There is zero chance the most expensive wine is $500,000. I've seen ancient small batch vintages sell for more than that at wineries plenty of times. You need to do more research.
It tends to be a bit hard to do research on this kind of thing. A lot of people in the uh... community... tend to be a media shy, let's put it that way. But I agree, there should be some big disclaimers for the vid.
Even if I were a trillionaire I'd never drop this much on wine. Even if I liked wine. Like can you imagine all the things you could do instead? Follow your favorite band around the country and get front center tickets every show? Imagine someone thought of all these things and was like "Nope.. I think I'll get a glass bottle filled with alleged rare wine I'll never drink." Solid, sound and practical investment right there
