MC Eiht Recalls Crack-Selling Days: Everybody Can't Be Doctors

- www.vladtv.com - During the crack epidemic in Compton, California, there was "money to be made," and MC Eiht did just that - but only for a short time. "It wasn't my thing," he relayed to DJ Vlad. "My perfect example is everybody can't be doctors [or] lawyers, everybody can't be football players, [and] everybody can't be rappers [or] producers. But I think at that time it was an experience I had to go through because I was gangbanging." Speaking further on the drug, MC Eiht added "it was a way for you to be different from the rest of the pack. We all gangbang, but then crack set you a part."
Listen as MC Eiht shares his background story above. - Zábava
This guy got a good head between his shoulders. His life experiences and him explaining it and not glorify it makes him a good man.
My experience, those that glorify tend to have the least experience being in the streets. Sure, maybe you sold some weed or was a banger, but you were never deep in it. Eminem gave an interview with 20/20 where he said you want to paint out a picture of yourself as having the hardest upbringing and story possible in hiphop and that’s what most rappers do. The ones who were really in the streets all mixed up don’t need to tell you; there was an interview with Paul Wall where ppl kept talking about how quiet dude is yet came from the hood and it was because when you really from it you don’t need to glorify it.
@@slothenberry9691 couldn't have said it any better bro you dropped big facts right there. A real one from the streets will never glorify it because it's not a glorious lifestyle, the ones who rap and glorify it were never heavy in the streets they're talking about they're people instead which it's not you. That's all for the clout, clown shit
You just a liability CJ
why u botha coming back
Lamar Davis My favorite game... lol
Yea the best game in the world

Mc Eiht is a freaking legend salute
One of the best rappers ever, Comptons Most Wanted had classics and Eiht had so many awesome solo albums to. Not to mention him and DJ Quik going at each other gave us a bunch of classic diss records. Comptons Most Wanted - Music To Driveby and Mc Eiht - We Come Strapped, two certified classics. Thanks for this one Vlad! Always felt that MC Eiht and Spice 1 never got the credit they deserved.
yep spice 1 is definitely underrated
Glorie Mpaka Hell yeah

I'm glad Vlad shows love to the OG's Mc Eiht Aka A-Wax Geah.
I still bump We Come Strapped And Music to Driveby to this day
"Compton in the house"
Thnx for putting this up. Just noticed MC Eiht is one of the only rappers that doesn't consistently say "know what I'm saying" or "know wat I mean".
He replaced that with "basically"...
don't get more West Coast then MC Eight
*Eiht
That real Cali accent
ur pathetic for paying vlad for content
@@nickth3many you’re pathetic for worrying about another mans money
You're both pathetic for necroing a 5 year old thread.

Aye homie, u need some help?
The title is misleading. It gives you the impression that he means that selling crack was an alternative to becoming a doctor. He actually said selling crack wasn't his thing, and that just like everybody can't be a doctor or an athlete, he couldn't go hard selling crack.
The MC Eiht interview is my favorite so far
Loved watching this all the way through... Instead of 5 minute clips spread over 8 months.. TY!!
mc eiht such a ruthless rugged style of rap he was cold blooded
These interviews with OG's are fucking great, i keep coming back to watch and listen even tho it's already 5-6 months old lol
MC Eiht and MC Ren should do an album together.
Its crazy that u said that mc ren was originally supose to play awax in meace to society but he turned down the role
So they give the role to mc eiht and tge rest is history💯
with WC....
Yo Vlad...thank you for doing all these great interviews with artists I grew up listening to. You don't just highlight the young in's but show the OG's some light!
Glad they got Eiht on here
Damn its Ryder from GTA San Andreas.
+Snitches Mr.FuckAJaw yea actually mc eiht did Rydah's voice in gta
Thank you MC Eight for sharing your story. What you shared is exactly why I personally went through. And what you shared about how the outside world thinks you're dumb, but you see at as being engraved made me realize that, I wasn't dumb, but just inexperienced to realize that what I was doing wasn't necessary the smartest thing to do. I work in the Silicon Valley now. Next to the Google's and Apple's, and I've always felt insecure, being from the hood. I've always felt insecure because I have thoughts about my gang banging past coming to hunt me. The reason they hunt me is because I feel like I was a fake, but you describe entails exactly what I went through. What you talk about, I did. which means I wasn't a fake, and which means now I am not a fake, I'm just someone trying to make a difference in his life.
music to driveby is the best album cover of all time.
+JNC 100 not even close
+JNC 100 it's just my opinion. Illmatic is maybe a better ALBUM, but from an artistic standpoint, my opinion, Music to Driveby has the best cover art I've ever seen.
+JNC 100 that said, it's very good listening too, was raw as hell when it came out
I just listened to it again front to back for the first time in a long time and I will also say this album has the smoothest outro track of all time as well. They don't make it like that anymore.
+Audfile Dru Down's Can You Feel Me is...Nike Tracksuit, Jordan XI's, puffin a Swisher Sweet in the middle of a sideshow with the smoke in the background and a 71 Continental flyin back up the road and the sunlight beamin through his perm
This was probably one of the best interviews need to do more of Mc eiht
Compton OG.
Music To Drive By... Eiht Hype...
Aye homie you need some help🔫
THE UPSETTERS the water gun lol
Warriors movie is a cult classic. My brother was in a cleveland ohio gang like in that movie, all the gang members wore 'members only' jackets. haha
The warriors?
The warriors Best movie ever ! Mc eiht knows

MC Eight has a great distinctive voice for video games and movies and of course rap music.
To share STORIES from back in the day can really CHANGE the POV for youngsters today, especially from a man with experience like this. keep them coming
"Nigga, pay me. PAY ME in Bud."
I had to stop everything I was doing immediately when I got this notification on my phone. MC Eiht? Vlad you real for this one!
Hood Took Me Under is a classic! I also remember this dude played Ryder is San Andreas.
Legendary MC Eiht speaks his experiences as child growing up into the gang culture he was a part of then became a hardcore MC creating the group Compton's Most Wanted. i remember when his first album it's a compton thang released in 1990 came in a blue cassette tape banging the fuck out the album every where i go then straight checcn em dropped in 1991 music to driveby came out in 1992 i got every album MC Eiht released over 25 years in the game
1st off this is a classic interview! Looooooooooong time MC Eiht fan, from Growing Up In DA Hood to We Come Strapped to the diss songs to DJ Quick to being A-Wax on Menace 2 Society. S/O to Vlad for this one! I hope more segments drop from this interview.
Damn he's articulate
vladtv kind of glorifies black on black violence. seems like he's fascinated by the whole thing.
ade2trey Violence in general is fascinating. Doesn’t matter who the victim or perp is.
@@wildamerican2771 For djvlad it seems pathological.
MY Top 5 Mc Eiht Albums 1. We Come Strapped 2. Music To Driveby 3. Section 8 4. Last Man Standing 5. Death Threatz
one of my top ten MC's...Good interview Vlad...Cant wait to see the rest of it.
Shout out to mc eiht, my coach Tyler, for the corona chargers this man help me thru a lot of stuff back in mid 2010's, the best coach i ever had and a great person overall. I've got many memories with him and still can picture the way he shouted my name Stites on the field. He in the hospital rn and i hope everyone shows him love and support
Vlad needs to ask him if he was in the We Want Eazy video by Eazy-E....there's a small clip where you can clearly see him in the crowd, nobody has asked that question before and I need to know.
+Str88Hype true
yea thats eiht and I think chill.

he def is in the Boys in the hood movie
Yeah that nigga was in it
mc eiht is a legend in 90s hip hop
I haven't heard from him in a while. It's great to hear his perspective on street life considering that he made it through.

MC Eiht actually seems like a nice guy
MC Eiht is an eloquent dude. This was a good interview series.

Raww Dawgg 😂😂😂
Can't get enough of MC Eiht. Best rapper of all time and just seems like a cool dude!
It was great to see Eiht interviewed, one of the most underrated mc out there. Vlad could've elaborated more on the man's career and making out the hood instead reminiscing about crack and gangs.
One of the best interview series on DJVlad, frfr
My boy still got the braids
I'm glad we can witness a gangster rapper grow older & educate the streets!
Long time fan. Thank you for the insight!
That's dope putting some real og west coast artist on vladtv like Mc EIHT, one of my west coast favs n still making dope music with dj primo n others, dope!
Real OG MC Eiht
I'm getting kinda tired of hearing Vlad start the interview with "So you're from Compton..."
I am and have been a fan of MC EIGHTs music from the start of his career, but he is super lucky to be alive and doing this interview!
Vlad, good looking out on these OG interviews.
Most underated rapper ever smh
Living Legend
Today was a good day for vlad interviews!💯

Best VladTV Interview ever...
Hip-Hop Legend.....I still bump eiht's records
I love to see the older gang members wearing the opposite colors or a Crip wearing a hat with a B on it....That's maturity
Great interview
straight up menace was my one of my fav songs and movie...Wax was so chill
My grandma told my dad the same thing in the title as motivation for him to do better. Crazy how things can be interpreted…
Gang life was very serious in the 80's & 90's.
great interview
Dope Interview..True legend in Da Rap Game...
Eiht is that dude for real for real. Dope music. But smart dude too. To have the intelligence, the foresight, to only be slanging literally just to get by; not with the mindset/goals that most have of becoming a kingpin and a baller and blah blah blah. Smart dude.
Thank you Vlad! really
At least MC 8 was honest in this interview
vlad you actually put me in a better mood by showing me this, Thanks.
Great interview with another memorable west coast artist Vlad.
This right here is the definition of an OG
i'm disappointed... 26 minutes long, and he didn't say "g'yeah" once
Ounce Of Game 😂
Hahaha
Lol
Its *GEAH* ma homie
underrated west coast MC!! Still making underground music! "GEH!!"
I'm a 70's baby to.... but I am from the west side on the CHI so I can relate to everything he is saying & I know exactly what he means.... Seen & been through a lot!! Those REAL streets in the hood is no JOKE!!!
"Givin yo set a bad name wit yo misspelt name, EIHT, now should i continue ? yeah you missed out tha 'G' cos the 'G' ain't in you"
TBH i listened to Eiht and CMW before Quik

MC Eiht? (Sheds proud tear)
I could listen to Eiht speak all day
Vlad with the hook up with this interview of Eight, Xmas time like our pops coming around that one time a year 👌
So basically... a lot of Menace 2 Society's story line is loosely based around MC Eihts life
To me eiht was better than quik.
Fuck no lol your trippin fool
Way better...Eiht a Legend ... Quik ain't ..
r u crazy??? eight was the shit but DJ quik was a producer, dj, and rapper....and his voice was perfect for rap
Yep. His music was more Gangsta than Quik music.
Theyre about even in the rap game quik probably was a little better because he produced and wrote his own shit but still i got quik and eiht even
Gotta say, I really loved his late 90s albums, like Death Threatz and Last Man Standing. Also the shit he did with DJ Muggs was crazy.
please tell me where I can find the rest of this interview PLEASE
That So Cal lyfe in the 80's was no joke..
So glad to see him here Vlad!!!! Chyeaaaah
"Aye homie you need some help"
Finally, an MC Eiht interview on VladTV. Merry Christmas, right?
