  • How reliable is my 2006 Mercedes Benz E55 AMG W211 and how much has it cost owning it for the past three years? In this video I go over the maintenance and easy mod costs that I have done to my AMG. This car is so far the most "unreliable" AMG I currently own but that is to be expected as the video explains. I have greatly enjoyed this W211 E55 AMG and I think the costs have been worth it so far.
    I hope you enjoy the video and my story style of video, subscribe for more German car content!

    I’m about to buy my second E55 AMG. It’s a 2006 with 120k miles. It has a good amount of mod, I like that it has the distronic, E63 wheels and LTH headers X pipe to SL65 muffler. It sounds good. and it has good maintenance record. Interior is nearly flawless. And I’m picking it up for 13k.

    Awesome and helpful video! I have one as well and ive been post poning changing the rear subframe bushings as it makes a kind of tap noise on acceleration. Overall it's been good tho

    Does your MB-II communicate with your TPMS module? Mine doesn't on my 04 and I've tried a second module to no avail. I think it's the scan tool but I can't be sure.

    Love finding more AMG content on CZcams! I have a manual swapped C55 AMG on my channel and an ML55 AMG if you're interested! Sub'd! Great insight and I am sure your cost of ownership will go way down once you get any deferred maintenance out of the way, or find the odd bugs like you have. Highly recommend Creative Steel motor mounts in the future, these motors will chew through the OEM units fast. Also, if the air suspension becomes troublesome, there are conversion kits for coil-overs out there. Sounds like you know these cars well and are capable of all the DIY they need at times, which is what they deserve!

    • @BaldManMotors
      @BaldManMotors  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for the sub! Yeah I hope the cost will go down, I will check out your channel as well! Yeah I figured next time I will get better mounts in all my AMGs a bit of a pain to change lol. Thanks for the comment!

    • @ANDERZENAMG
      @ANDERZENAMG Před 3 lety

      @@BaldManMotors the nice thing is, the Creative Steel mounts are slimmer in size so much easier to fit. They help the car’s dynamics a lot overall, eliminating the want to veer slight right from the torque lifting the driver side of the engine. Lifetime guaranteed as well. Anyway, glad to connect with you!

    im literally looking at buying one at $20k with 114k miles. I want one so bad but also i think its way too expensive. Los Angeles prices is tough!

    • @BaldManMotors
      @BaldManMotors  Před 3 lety +1

      @Michael Gray Hmm, well in my opinion I thing that price is a bit high, I mean it had better be mint in looks and maintenance I would think. I almost think you could by one in another state sight unseen with a good PPI, pay for transportation to ship it to you and it would still be cheaper than 20K but that just my .02 I hope it works out for you and they are great cars!

    • @Tonyscasa
      @Tonyscasa Před 4 měsíci

      That’s really expensive. I don’t know what additional taxes you pay but try to get the car checked out and use any potential issues as leverage for negotiations

    So the Michelin A/S 4 aren't that sticky? also, would you elaborate on that intake spacer? what did you use surrounding it?

    • @BaldManMotors
      @BaldManMotors  Před 3 lety

      Yeah they don't seem quite as grippy as summer tires but they are far from terrible. Intake spacer is just made out of 3/4" x 1/8" mild steel, I welded it together with all sides angled in at the top. There are red versions on ebay for $250, I wasn't paying that much 😂 I got longer screws and used cut pieces of brass tubing as spacers for screws.

    • @BaldManMotors
      @BaldManMotors  Před 3 lety +1

      That is a great question, hard to say right now, seems that pricing is rising quickly. I would suggest asking in one of the E55 Facebook groups, opinions vary but may give you a good snapshot on the current market.

    • @MrMachacker
      @MrMachacker Před 3 lety

      I wouldn't pay more than 18k for one with over 100k miles with excellent maintenance history
      Keep options in mind though. Keyless Go, Panoramic sunroof, Distronic, Parktronic, Cooled / Massaging seats can all add up in the listed price.

      @BaldManMotors  Před 2 lety

      @ MajorTreesh First thing comes to my mind on a deal like that without knowing details is to have several thousand available as well for maintenance right from the get-go. I don't typically see them that cheap unless they are salvage title with mechanical problems but you may get lucky.

    Hello bro. I wanna get this type of an E55 with 180k KM for 15k. Is it worth it and would it have problems at that milage? (Btw europe)

    • @BaldManMotors
      @BaldManMotors  Před 3 lety +1

      Well at those miles (180km is 111k miles for other readers reference) it should be good, not sure on 15k price, that is a bit high I think at least here in the USA but it isn't terrible. I would just recommend getting a pre purchase inspection done to make sure it's all good. Common failures can be motor mounts, intercooler pump, transmission flush due and check airmatic suspension is working properly and isn't leaking. Also check for rust. Hope that helps and best of luck to you! 👍

      @BaldManMotors  Před 2 lety +2

      @Gavin Belcher not sure what "not realistic" is in this case but now I drive 1k miles a year in it as I enjoy my other AMGs more. My reality is not everyone's reality, just like your reality may not be mine. More importantly I hope everyone enjoys their rides no matter the miles. Cheers!

      I agree - we have one with 35,000, and put 500 miles annually, one with 110,000 miles and put 8k annually, and a G55 with 65k, and put 1500 annually. 🤷🏿‍♂️. Like you said - who’s reality matches yours?
