You don't need to add the spacer. Simply loosen the set screw on the body of the upper guide and reverse the stem that goes from the guide body back. It moves the roller over about the distance of your spacer. I just figured this out while fighting the same problem. It isn't documented.

My upper thrust bearing did the exact same thing. I remedied it by removing thrust bearing and adding washers to move bearing out more. Very happy how new Carter guides work. You did a good job on the video.

One last thing for anyone else doing this upgrade. I don't understand why there is nothing to fix that lower bladed guide from moving forward and backward either. I used Jam nuts the same way as shown here. Anyone looking for the nuts, they are 3/8-16 and Lowes (in my are a anyway) sells them coated black for .35 each - Item # 1339819. Thanks to Spindles Workshop for posting this, it did make it easier to take the plunge.

Top guide.. behind thrust bearing; the square rod with a slot in it, spin that rod 180°. It’s concentric, moves the bearing over a bit. Worked for me. No shim.

Hi Luie, Great video. I have the blocks on my bandsaw and as far as I'm aware I can't get rollers for it. It's a DeWaldt 3501. As you said I'm surprised you didn't get the back bearing for the lower guide and the left hand bottom roller should have be adjustable. Great upgrade and I hope it serves you well for a long time. Take care Luie. Cheers, Huw

Great review Luie, I had a Craftsman band saw like that from the early 1960's. I bought it at a garage sale and used it for years. Great little saw. Same guides and I never upgraded it.
I have a Delta 14 inch from about 1948 with similar guides and have been wanting to upgrade them. After seeing your video I am not so sure. That lower bearing on the left should be adjustable. And I am surprised it did not come with the rear bearing as well.
Your video is very helpful because I now know to check and make sure the kit does everything.
I also doubt if your bandsaw is out of whack and needed a shim to get it to line up. If it was messed up it would change as you raised and lowered it.
    Thanks for the video!
    Gary

You want the guide not to touch the blade while running.
While the machine is off apply small amount of pressure on blade and the blade should touch guide.
      I hope that makes sense.
