- After listening to the hit single "Get Happy" by the ill-fated teen pop group B*Witched for 6 hours on repeat, I finally got the inspiration to make this video. Once again, don't take this too seriously. I exaggerate on a few things and spazz out for entertainment reasons only. The truth is Volition did have trouble with replayable missions and getting other features to work properly. Regardless, there is truth to most of what I say, and I try to make some points clear on why this game feels more hollowed out than it should be.

When I saw Saints Row 3 I thought it was great. And then when I saw Saints Row 2 I realized how shitty Saints Row 3 is.

In SR2, homies would stay with you during mission checkpoints and when you save the game with them in your party. In SR3 they get dismissed instantly and most of them are inaccessible in may storylines. Homie AI also wasn't as dumb as they are in SR3.

Flippy, Regarding the Electric Grenades in SR3, they do serve more of a purpose. If a car is active while being affected by a E-Grenade, It'll cause a EMP Effect, disabling the car. I find it useful for disabling police or military units pursuing me.

Deranged Letters okay, how about the boss goes back in time with the saints in the time machine, but dex and his super gang kills all the saints, and leaves the boss with no gang. then the you (the boss) must rebuild your gang back to the top! kinda like SR2, like when you start the game, you lost everything from SR1, and now you have to get back to the top.

I legitimately would be happy if Volition took SR2, kept the graphics, kept the engine, and threw out everything we knew and loved about the third street saints, and attempted to remake something as amazing as the story to SR. I'm sorry, but the saints are dead. Volition destroyed them.
Agreed. I don't even consider 3 (haven't played 4 and never will) canon to the first two Saints games. It felt more like a spin off.

I find myself rewatching this and the wishlist videos atleast once every year. Miss you Flippy. And miss the good ol’ days Saints Row 1 and 2.
This is but a scratch in the surface of what Saints Row did. The NPC's were so funny and intelligent. I remember random pedestrians boxing with gang members and just shocking them with a taser. There was even a time, I walked into a robbery in progress. Also, there were times you could whoop on some streaker on the street. And why did they take out the feature where you can hit somebody with the butt of your weapons. They did give it to the enemy NPC, and that was it. I swear this game was awesome, much better than GTA 4 at the time.

Really like this video. I am a huge fan of SR1 and especially SR2, that cliffhanger ending in 1 with the yacht and all that, so amazing. So I was really hyped when SR3 came out, bought it day one, played for maybe 3 hours and haven't touched it since. I didn't even glance at SR4 because everything I saw on it made me roll my eyes so hard. It used to be like playing a gangsta ass music video, now it's like a bad Scary Movie sequel or something. I was heart broken. And still am, cause with Gatt out of Hell.... I mean it just looks terrible.
I miss fighting styles. With the ronin fighting style, you could jump on an enemy, cave their face in, then do a backflip and kick them in the chest.

More extra activities especially the demo derby, love that activity as well as being able to take a derby car, ruckus for example, be able to modify it and drive it around in saints row 1.. In saints row 2 you're stuck with all 4 derby cars not being fully customizable and couldn't take off unnecessary parts

I was literally playing saints row the third and then stumbled upon this video trying to find glitches and crap. U dont watch CZcams when ur playing a game....that shows how boring the Game got.
Alright Flippy here's an idea I thought of after SR4.
1. Once they have the time machine, Matt and Kinzie work on it trying to get it to work since the first thing they had in mind was saving earth, meanwhile the other saints are helping people get out of the containers, although they won't open while the boss is getting more of an idea of the zin.2. The Time machine gets overloaded and sends the saints in different times. Luckily enough the boss finds the time machine in the same time as him after exploring (this could lead to deferent themes of clothing and humor!) After time they all meet up, they all get lost on what to do and notice Kinzie and Matt are going nuts after the fact they couldn't understand the time machine (more through out the story humor!) 3. There could be loyalty missions for examples being matt goes back to stop killbanes flight and ends him, Gat can save his love, etc..4. They find a way to stop earths tragedy by killing zinyak at the white house by the attack on earth. They use zinyaks ship to fight the other but the past one destroys the present one. But things go to a turn because soon the saints realize Johnny would die since they would destroy the ship so he sacrifices himself (leads to some drama ;) with a serious tone ) but things go to an even bigger turn leaving the saints defeated.5. They all refugee to the crib in SR3 and figure out a new plan. This plan is to get the time machine off of zinyaks past ship, they sneak on and steal the time machine and go back to the plane Johnny was abducted on and stops Zinyak there when he isn't ready. They kill him and save Johnny by jumping out sr3 style and force zinyak to crash into the ocean. With the crew and the time machine broke they all Finnish the gangs of still port with matt to spy for them and using there memory from stopping them before they do it quickly 6. No more aliens starts right off from sr3, there you go new goofy gangster gang.

I wish I found this video sooner; it was so interesting to watch. I totally agree with so much of these points. I love Saints Row 2 and the series in general. Then I noticed the series' decline in quality. Oh, how naive we were before Saints Row 4 released (and let's not even mention the "reboot" 🤮).

Unfortunately, I was never able to play Saints Row 1 and 2 so I started on 3 and honestly, I enjoyed it, I can see how its lost a good portion of its gameplay and I hope to play the Previous Saints Rows if I can but the sr3 and 4 were enjoyable and played on the story well but they could have made it link back to sr2 in sr3.

Hey Flippy, I watched this video and your other Saints Row videos; I never really realized how much was missing from SR3. But all the content that was cut- is that gone forever? Like with SW:KotOR II, so much was cut. But modders went in and restored, I dare say, most of it. And even if it's not there in the files, or Volition won't release it, can't someone create the features? I keep up with IdolNinja, and he and other modders have introduced so much into the game. It's always my dream for companies that released somewhat bare games with hidden potential (that we especially know exists from the previous two games) to come back to it and add those things in post-release. I know it happens sometimes, and even if it's some dollar-grabbing DLC, I'm hoping that maybe this is still possible. Do you have any idea on what happened to the cut content?

On one side I heard that SR 5 will be a lot more like the first two parts of the series with a more dramatic story and it will be more realistic. On the other side the game ends with the last few saints getting a time machine and the words "...and thats how the saints empire began!". Both of the options would be cool although I think it would be very hard to be serious again after you just became king of a whole alien species, but there are three options I see how to turn it around:
1. The boss is still in coma and SR 2-4 were just dreams.
2. The saints search a new planet to live on and the game plays on this planet.
3. They use the time machine to go back in time and visit all gangmembers and either take them to the present or live the last hours of their lives with them. (Both ways Dex gets visited too, of course)
But I wouldn't mind taking over different planets as an warleader and then travel between them a bit like in AC4 but with spaceships 'n stuff or robbing banks in the wild west or storming castles with modern military technology in the mediavel europe. Anyway, if there will be a SR 5, it will hardly go wrong if they do any of these things.

+Metasync This might work with the idea with the boss in coma or some time machine accident, so that the games takes place in Stilwater again but I guess in case it is anything else than that it'll be hard to be a "real" Saints-Row-game again (except maybe the idea with only one planet to play on. This could be atleast kind of a Saints-game when there are some alien-gangs who'd like to recrut you).
Flippy, I first joined the Saints Row community in Saints Row The Third. At first I didn't think I would like Saints Row 2 so I bought Saints Row 4. After I beat it I thought, "Fuck it," and bought Saints Row 2. I realized it was the best in the series and one of the best games I've ever played. Thanks for sharing the experience!
