  • Great looking dial on this recently released special edition Mini Tuna 200 Meter Prospex diver. It has silhouettes of penguins swimming under the ice and comes on a matching dark blue silicon strap.

    Thanks for the video. I’m right now deliberating which STO baby tuna to get. It’ll be between this one and the “happy feet” from last year…. Not sure if you have seen the happy feet version in person. If you have, which one do you think has the better colour combo between the dial and bezel?

      I saw that one with the penguin feet. The dial is nice on that one but I didn't think I would like the color strap that one came on. These are the newer style straps so hard to find a replacement one at this point. I like this colorway much better.

    Tough choice between this and the monster version.. I had both of them(penguin feets version). The monster though more manly, have a hollow turning bezel. The baby tuna one feels more solid to turn.. I am hence more incline towards this tuna version.

      It seems people are using the words "baby" and "mini" interchangeably when it comes to the smaller Tuna and Turtle nicknames. I had Seiko. some of them Tuna's worth close to 2k $ I will tell you a secret. Buy a Steinhart Diver at the same price to find out its a better watch in every possible way. Especially the bracelet.
    I am not even kidding. Sold all my watches but one Hamilton Khaki Auto and some G shock beaters. Seiko are WAY overpriced ! Some models went up 40% in the past 2 years. I had misalign chapter rings and crappy bracelet on a thousand dollar Seiko watch. Are you kidding me ??? I know you will tell me "okay but the Marine Master series and up !!" Yeah 3000$ to 5000$ for a dive watch that can't keep time. Just buy a Sin or anything else with real value at this price point. That said, have a nice day.

    • @watchify1775
      @watchify1775  Před 2 lety +2

      You make some valid points. I think Seiko has been trying to increase their price over time in order to develop a perception of being a higher quality watch brand worth the extra cost. They already had the brand history and name recognition but I think they are moving away from the sub 200$ price bracket. At least that is no longer their emphasis. I do agree that a 1000$ Seiko should not have quality control issues but they still do and that will be a big problem for Seiko's long term plans.
      I've heard good things about Steinhart and checked them out online but they come off as too homagey for me. I was recently looking for a preowned Sinn 556i at a reasonable price but that watch holds too much of it's resale value (deservedly)

      Mmm… I had a Steinhart Ocean One (?) 39mm for Gnomon (Tudor’s homage) and I had it fort 10 days. I’ve a Monster and its bracelet is good (final retail price in 2020: €400,00); Imve this baby Tuna STO and I love it (final retail price in 2022: €500,00, so higher than Monster, for same movement and crystal, without the bracelet for a minor quality price ratio; however I think that a correct price for baby Tuna). Especially, I’ve a black MM300 (the old version, without lume at three o’clock) amd it is the best diver’s watch for €3,2 (final retail price can be about €2,4 with a fine research); I’ve the BB58 and this watch is only fashion… the quality of Seiko (monoblock case, mirror polishing, bracelet’s clasp, bezel and bezel insert) is superior. In office, with a shirt, better BB58 (or NOMOS Club); on other activity “MM300 is the way”. I’m sorry for my English.
