every friday night at 10 p.m. my dad & I would watch miami vice in the living room with the tv rca jacks hooked to the home stereo & lights off to make the show more focused & intense. It's still my favorite show.

I remember when Miami Vice was among the top tv shows in the 80's. Hard to believe that it's been 30 years since the first episode came out.

The Love I have for the first 2 Seasons of this Show knows no Boundaries...Season 3 was Great too! 4 & 5 were a little Rough but overall its an Amazing show & im forever impressed with how Michael Mann literally Changed Television in the 80s..♡

I was 2 when Miami Vice first aired and 7 when the last season of the show ended and now as an adult I can't get enough of it. Miami Vice was and will always be an integral piece of 80's history. I believe what made it the best is two things: 1) the music, music, music! Phil Collins WAS Miami Vice and 2) the chemistry between Don Johnson and Phillip Michael Thomas was magic!
I remember my dad was a line man down in Miami during this time and he freaked out one night when he heard gun shots coming from everywhere until he realized oh their just filming a Miami Vice episode around the corner lol
funny, my parents & grandparents are all from miami - my mom & dad would go and try to watch the filming whenever they could and befriended some of the production crew
my grandpa, on the other hand, would avoid the filming like a plague because he wanted no part of it and it would back up traffic
MV and Magnum, two great TV icons that set the standards......the lifestyle changed back in the 80s, the trend setters, the hip talk, the drugs, and the music were emulated by everyone and almost everywhere on Friday nights at 10 the televisions were glued to the hippest style the world has ever experienced......it didn’t get any better than MV.
80s decade....the BEST BEST...my heart turned cold when the 80s were gone.

Miami Vice, Knight Rider, Airwolf, Magnum Pi to go with the M.A.S.K and Visionaries cartoons was my favorite tv shows in the 80s

I remember seeing commercials before the shows debut. I Thought it was cool to see a BROTHER with green eyes getting his "PIMP" ON.
@@leomartin1603 -You could go to the clubs with the 80s r&b or techno house music on, knew you'd meet the women with the big hair & thick Madonna styled eyebrows, & we're wearing MV styled retro suits w the Drakar cologne, & some of the NY clubs closing at 4am or dawn with r&b slow jams playing just before closing. Even though you had to be aware of some uzi carrying crack dealer gangs cruisin by, the 80s was still a cool time to be a teen or young adult. But there were people who wouldn't go out on Fri. nights, or waited until later because they wanted to catch the latest episode of Miami Vice which went off at 11pm.
Don Johnson did after Season 2 want to leave Miami Vice. Major drama. They even had a replacement lined up Mark Harmon. Yes that guy. Luckily Don came to his senses and finished out the rest of the show. Michael Mann does not get the credit he deserves for what he gave us with Miami Vice. Then 6 years later after it ended he gave us the 4 star classic HEAT with Pacino and DeNiro.
Michael mann was out in the second season. He didnt direct a single episode. The man was money. Not art.

@@eduardobsn83 Don Johnson had to turn down DIE HARD because Universal wouldn't give him some time off usually given on other TV shows . He more than deserved the extra money .
God do I miss MV too, and there will never be another show like it in television. It was a unique, one of a kind chemistry for that time period - the 80s. Sorry folks if you weren't there you missed one hell of a party. Thank god, I was there for the whole decade.

At the end of the video PMT say's, *"I miss it... I REALLY miss it"*, and I know he truly does miss it because, sadly, it seems he never had the success he did when he starred on the greatest show the 80's ever produced. I don't know why PMT was overlooked the way he was but, just the same, he's done just fine but I still wish he'd had more success so we could have seen more of him over the years. Apart from DJ and EJO, the rest of the cast have never really been in the limelight since that time.

The whole basis of Miami Vice was about drug smugglers and dealers which was going on in real life. When that stopped, the show did too.

OMG....How this show changed TV....b/4 Miami Vice , no TV show had music that was as important to the show as the characters were...CLASSIC TV, no question.
they should do a one off episode just to satisfy fans and the curiosity in people to see where are crockett and tubbs are now
The fashion over shadowed the show, the show had great stories, cars, the way it was filmed, atmosphere was immense. Also the sound track by jah hammer is excellent
When this show came out right after Scarface movie and the colors and neon and the clothes and music made it a hit show . It didn't hurt that Michael Mann produced it . Too bad that re-make movie didn't have the magic from the TV series .My best seasons were 1+2 .

They are like peanut butter and jelly. You can't have one without the other. They are both so good looking and they exude coolness. I love their little side comments and conversations. Every time I rewatch the series on Peacock, I pickup on something I missed the time before

Phillip Michael Thomas I miss it too. It's been off the air 26 years. We need a reboot ASAP. Bring back Crockett and Tubbs and a younger fresher faced Miami Vice crew let them teach the young guns what they know. I'd watch that shit every week. I got seasons 1 2 and 5 of Miami Vice and 3 and 4 are next.
Ah, those "Wolf-made" seasons (to each her own, but hard pass for me on those; content with S5 set in addition to S1 & S2 sets acquired some years before) 📀😊

I bought the five-season boxed set about seven years ago but that's just the DVD set. I believe it cost around $125 at the time and I've watched those things over and Over and OVER but I'm gonna buy the Blu-Ray set when it comes out and watch'em again in HD :)

the thing that I always loved is that the Vice division the Miami/Dade was pretty small... the largest division was INTERNAL AFFAIRS, because of the amounts of money and merchandise they were dealing with (had a friend who spent most of the 80's working for them, then moved to DEA (and doing the same thing)).

I think we all miss the days of the 80's .. Even when people did bad things EVEN then it still had some kind of meaning or small sense to it .... Smoking was crazy cool and fast cars and free love was still in the air.... . Even when people were bad you still had people who cared . Im from the 80's .. And so are alot of you watching this video . And we actuly got to live the life of the 80's and i wouldnt trade it for the world .. And i wish we could all go back .CHEERS TO ALL the children of the 80's good times forever may we all meet back there one day .
I got all seasons in DVD watch one episode every Friday night just like back then.
About 30 years ago, an opinionated friend of mine found out I was a Vice fan when she actually tried to tell me that she didn't think people watched Vice because they liked it, just because it wasn't her kind of show, and that it didn't have talent or a plot LMAO! Said something similar about Magnum, PI.

The fashion helped put it on the map... if they made the show in Detroit it wouldn’t work; it was Miami and the pink and green colors, the music, the cars etc.
Buses was my favorite episode.
You have to admit that the fashion and environment is absolutely striking... Had that episode been made in some dreary, gray city like Chicago it wouldn't have nearly the same reputation or effect!

Season 1-2-3 CLASSIC VICE! 4 and 5 not so much and the show was dead.
That car was a modified corvette from what i remember hearing about it. Essentially, a KIT-CAR and not a Ferrari'.
I respect Mann and all, but actually the iconic scene with the song In The Air Tonight was an idea of Thomas Carter, not his.

Miami Vice was the best TV show of the 80s. I only caught season 2 and reruns of 1 when I was locked up at age 16 1985-1986. After I got out I turned to more serious crimes and every Friday night I was out drinking (lived where the drinking age is 18 and not enforced) and committing crimes rather than watching MV.
