Why are people hating on this guy?! I think he's great and his reviews are informative and interesting. You guys need to leave him alone - he's still a person at the end of the day. Stop acting so childish.
I just drove the SLC300 with the AMG kit along Chapmans Peak drive in Cape Town, phenomenal road with a lovely roadster
ppffft... Yeah I mostly take my suitcases out of the car when I intend to stay in it, with the hood down :( bell end!
The Mercedes is the best looking of the bunch, by far! It has super quality and is a classic roadster. I don't want a Sony Playstation like instrument cluster...
I think the point being missed over and over is.... This car is not meant to be a full fletcher exhilarating car to drive. Instead it us designed to be a pleasant compfortable car with a touch of sporty look and roadster style. What more could you want?

oh dear. I guess the SLC badged Mercedes has always come from the S-class ranged, it's seem weird to see the current version coming from the C-Class range.
the previous slk was c class based too
OMG thank you so much for this honest review i have been obsessing about this car wanted to get this car, i already have SLK AMG model. I was thinking of upgrading to the SLC. After watching your honesty review, I think i'll stick to my SLK for now.
Brilliant, Driving with the Roof down while its raining cleans the interior naturally.
I think it looks better than the shoe looking Z4 and the boring TY. It's a Mercedes and I actually think the interior is quite nice

All that negativity about hard top practicality...a luggage case? Come on +CarBuyer...really? What would you expect with all that metal in the boot. How many hardtops are considered to have a practical boot? It would be better to state it's practical comparison against other hardtops. It's a regular compromise for many.
Aside from that, good point on the offset driving position. Good enough.
I love mine and I just both convertible for the garden top, I hate fabric looks cheap... who buy this cars shouldn't be worry about trunk space, that's why mine is just to have fun and my daily is a suv
When someone reviews a sporty type car like this and says ‘the large glove box is a particular highlight’ then I think we might have a problem ;-)
Fabric roofs are shit, can't believe the reviewer thinks it's a better trade-off. Not being able to take your luggage out from the trunk when the roof is down is such an easily avoidable con. Geez.

Dopey bloke - I had a 2014 Z4 - looking at SLC - Roof has to be up to get bags out - No big deal, Would you leave your car open and unattended - Your insurance company won't be happy. You buy a car like this for looks not for practical reasons.

He’s not objective and misses the point
2016 and people still hating on things they shouldn't be. I like Matt's reviews hence why I have subscribed to Carwow. I watch those regularly. They're really good. I also like these reviews from James - The videos are more regular (due to the size of Carbuyer compared to Carwow but still...), they are more lengthy and slightly more descriptive and are pretty much as good as Matt's. Matt has a more chilled out review and those very reviews are always just that bit less serious and informative than these reviews from James. James seems to be on topic a lot of the time and reviews cars WELL! As does Matt, mind. I like Matt's reviews, I like James' reviews and I won't diss one because of the other. :)
Seems like a very seriously built car. And the diesel version seems like a very nice engine fitted in this car. This low end torque is bonkers....
This is just a facelift of the SLK though. So it isn't a new car really.

just went to test drive one but it will be discontinued as of 2019. I love this car. The TT is ug.
Why all the fuss about the roof? If you want to take your case out you've obviously arrived at your destination, so you'll want to put the roof back up anyway. What a plonker.
The SLC is MB's entry level roadster....their two-seater sports car is called the GT.

This reviewer is an interesting case study in group programming. Where is it a rule that, when they see a front-engined, two-seater, rear-wheeled drive car one must automatically think, it must be fun to drive; I usually just think cool looking car, if it is, I must be weird.

Nice review James. Very Clean. and Sleek. Great sound and pic. Would you mind sharing your in car camera and mount? I will owe you a favour. I use G7 - Hague SM90 mount. No good. Nightmares. No competition, I dont have a massive mag and a zillion followers :)

look, I had a cafe and my SLK provided all the space for the shopping, Plenty of space. Course, if you go on a holiday with the wifee, you might need a trailer hehe

It’s more of a Sunday drive kind of vehicle, more relaxed than its peers.
The suitcase thing was a bit of a stupid point. If you were parking at an airport with your suitcase, I'm pretty sure you'd close the roof anyway

For me the MB SLK r171 generation was the best looking. Now, I would never consider one especially when you have the beautiful Cayman and Boxster.

But, almost a year gone since Mat and Rebecca had moved over and im finding it hard to believe that the new car buyer reviewer's have failed to impress majority viewers.....!! i never missed a single review as a Hard core petrol head....but it isn't anymore interesting. Its very appalling to witness the lack of presentation skills, boring reviews that doesn't get me hooked to the reviews regardless of the car manufacturer.........Mat & Rebecca you guys were outstanding. Miss you both.
Love the looks and the interior of the TT. If I had the money my list would be, Boxster>TT>Z4>SLC...... If I had the money :/

God they really pussied out with the engines, not a sports car in any way. Even the AMG version only has a V6!? Remember back in the day you could get the titanic SLK55 with a lovely massive V8. Looked better too.
I thought the new SL and CLA were ugly but this is by far the worst.Great review btw.

I still think the original R170 SLK is the best looking out of all the generations.

Why would you leave the roof down and try taking your luggage out in the pissing rain...
so i would prefer cars with fabric roof that hard roof cause i wont have problem with my suitcase when the roof is down?

its less than 20secs to open/close the roof. It's really not an issue. In most cases when one arrives at their destination they are not leaving the top down
I cant belive a car like this in 2016 doesnt have any kind of padding or cover at that interior boot pannel ..all those metal edges are just looking cheap
my audi a4 b5 from 98' has a nice strong textile covering material and this luxury car don't....

Refreshing reviewer, I love him way of sharing his views on the cars .... Definitely more user friendly for us female car fans to watch .... And OMG how bang on the money is he with the ** taking the luggage out the boot with the hood down drama ** gentleman viewers, that's something most of us ladies watching will be very interested in ....

I think it is a norm for car reviewer to bash Mercedes nowadays.. Not sure why.. Its always the Porsche, BMW, Audi, then comes the Merc..
Always criticized for styling and handling.. Yet they sell so many of them..
To better experience Mercedes Benz, better go to your trusted local dealership.. Have a go by yourself.. And bash Merc if you hated it 😃😃
