- In this video I explain about total internal reflection.
Total Internal Reflection
When ray of light enters from denser medium to rarer medium it bends away from the normal
and ray of light bends toward the normal if it is travelling from rarer medium to denser medium.
When ray of light enters from denser medium to rarer medium and angle of incidence is greater than critical angle then it totally reflected back in the same medium this phenomenon is known as TIR.
Conditions for total internal reflection
1.Ray of light must travel from denser medium to rarer medium
2.Angle of incidence must be greater than critical angle
Critical angle of glass using Snell's Law
n1sinx1=n2sinx2
x2=arcsin(n1/n2)
x2=arcsin(1/1.5)=arcsin(0.667)=41.8°
