She came from another rescue that specializes in mink, she and her surviving siblings were pulled from their inexperienced mother and placed with another mink that had babies close in age, since she had raised mink before she sadly did too well at raising the babies at the cost of her life since she was getting older. The babies had been weaned at that point but the rescue was devastated when they found out she couldn't be saved. Once they were older a few of the babies came to SAF. I saw the story on SAF's Mustelids page on Facebook. Chichi is alive and well, she is also featured occasionally on that page, along with the fishers Mikayla owns.
It’s VERY interesting seeing the dynamic of these 2. It’s very similar to my 2 cats Samson and Mazzy. Samson was a 1 year old adoption but Mazzy was left at my doorstep at 3 weeks by her mom. We’re pretty sure Mazzy came from a cat family that was under our neighbor’s shed (there were at least 3 generations of cats living there). Mazzy has always been more aggressive/instinctual but not to the point of being afraid of people, and she loves other cats. Samson has been like her uncle teaching her bad habits and cat sass. All after like 8 years of not getting along with my other cat Emma that was adopted with him
I've always loved Atlas and Chi-Chi. They are adorable 😍 and I know how ferocious those slinky minkies and. Ferret type critters are. Good job. Comment for the algorithm.
The minks are so stinking cute they are little but fierce I love to see them in the water there is this playful look to them in the water that never fails to make me smile.

You are so patient with the animals, you're awesome! This reminds me of when I took in a feral female cat (previousely tnr'd) that was bonded with a friendly male cat I had already taken in during the winter (they were both living outside but I couldn't trap her no matter what I tried, probably bc of the tnr trapping). After some trickery, I managed to get her inside, but she was deeply afraid of me. The friendly male started bringing her near my desk chair, and I swear he got her into the right spot for me to reach down and pet her. The first time she froze and then ran, and eventually she'd start staying still for it and running if I moved, and it progressed from there. Now she sleeps right next to me, seeks my attention and purrs more easily than most cats. Having a fur friend help out was the key to getting her to trust me.

There is even a physical mailing address on their website where ALL donations would go directly to SAF, but I can understand if most would be turned off by that! I never knew that minks mainly stays in water. They are cute just like foxes and beavers. ❤❤❤ If you cut open a sleeve of aloe, slice off the skin and scoop out the gelatin and rub the wounds everyday. They will close and heal well. And it's natural. 👍💯
I love seeing Scarlett doing so well with training. I loved that when she was swimming and just climbed up in your arm and didn't even bite. I also love seeing the friendship between her and Atlas.

I saw a white mink in the wild in the mid lower peninsula of Michigan while walking down a two rut road in the woods one day. There was snow on the ground. It wasn’t until I saw these guys, and Atlas’ big pink nose in particular, that it dawned on me what it was. This was way back in the 80s. I looked at it and it looked at me and went about it’s business. It’s the only time I’ve ever seen or encountered a mink, period. To see one in the wild is so cool. I actually thought it was a weasel, though. One of my favorite ever critter encounters for sure.

Very cool! My boyfriend and I had two ferrets upon a time. One was feral and one had been domesticated. They were both males and ended up being the best of friends. Also, glad to hear you say that you do like to enjoy the moments and not film everything. We all enjoy the content, but you need you time too!

Getting Mink to be completely domesticated takes 200 generations, at the fur farms there are allready 130 generations so it takes 70 more before they could be 100% domesticated. When foxes take only 20 generations.
It's a fascinating topic, the relationship between humanity and certain animals. I'd say 'dogs' and 'horses' have likely the closest of relations with humanity. For very obvious reasons. When we say 'dog' or 'horse' in common parlance it's understood that the intention is a VERY domesticated animal. Even though VERY wild dogs and horses still exist... Perhaps less so with horses, but certainly Wolves, Dingos, Jackals and Coyotes still exist in large populations across the world. Foxes are an enigma of course, officially not 'dogs', certainly 'Canine', but distinclty 'Vulupes'. No domesticated dog from a Poodle to a Labrador to a German Shepherd is a Vulpe! However, many Canines _seem_ to still have some 'memory' of relations with humans from very many generations ago. Even wild Wolves are 'occasionally' able to form a bond with humans in modernity. The ancestors of many wild Canines living today may not have lived habitually with our human ancestors... but some probably did form mutual relationships of some sort... Finnegan, for instance is likely a descendant of Canines many hundreds of yrs ago who were 'peculiarly' familiar with humans. It takes the special touch/love of people like SAF to spark the 'memory' almost certainly... But I suspect the memory has to be there already.🤷 Again, it's an endlessly fascinating topic, and 'The Truth is almost entirely unattainable! But these are my thoughts!

I saw a white mink in the wild in the mid lower peninsula of Michigan while walking down a two rut road in the woods one day. There was snow on the ground. It wasn’t until I saw these guys, and Atlas’ big pink nose in particular, that it dawned on me what it was. This was way back in the 80s. I looked at it and it looked at me and went about it’s business. It’s the only time I’ve ever seen or encountered a mink, period. To see one in the wild is so cool. I actually thought it was a weasel, though. One of my favorite ever critter encounters for sure.
Boy i love safe a fox beyond anything but where was this filmed? I mean is this fist place direct beside a highway😄? Awesome and educating vid none the less 🥰😍 love how much love and time Mikayla and Ethan and all at safe a fox take to give all these animals the best of times in their lifes^^.

Very cool! My boyfriend and I had two ferrets upon a time. One was feral and one had been domesticated. They were both males and ended up being the best of friends.
Also, glad to hear you say that you do like to enjoy the moments and not film everything. We all enjoy the content, but you need you time too!

Where are you building the new cages or kennels for the 500 foxes? Minnesota or Florida?
Getting Mink to be completely domesticated takes 200 generations, at the fur farms there are allready 130 generations so it takes 70 more before they could be 100% domesticated. When foxes take only 20 generations.
It's a fascinating topic, the relationship between humanity and certain animals. I'd say 'dogs' and 'horses' have likely the closest of relations with humanity. For very obvious reasons.
When we say 'dog' or 'horse' in common parlance it's understood that the intention is a VERY domesticated animal. Even though VERY wild dogs and horses still exist... Perhaps less so with horses, but certainly Wolves, Dingos, Jackals and Coyotes still exist in large populations across the world. Foxes are an enigma of course, officially not 'dogs', certainly 'Canine', but distinclty 'Vulupes'. No domesticated dog from a Poodle to a Labrador to a German Shepherd is a Vulpe!
However, many Canines _seem_ to still have some 'memory' of relations with humans from very many generations ago. Even wild Wolves are 'occasionally' able to form a bond with humans in modernity.
The ancestors of many wild Canines living today may not have lived habitually with our human ancestors... but some probably did form mutual relationships of some sort... Finnegan, for instance is likely a descendant of Canines many hundreds of yrs ago who were 'peculiarly' familiar with humans.
It takes the special touch/love of people like SAF to spark the 'memory' almost certainly... But I suspect the memory has to be there already.🤷
Again, it's an endlessly fascinating topic, and 'The Truth is almost entirely unattainable! But these are my thoughts!
