  • Forgiving Boipatong (2001): In a bid to come to terms with themselves, the Boipatong killers seek out the families they attacked all those years ago.
    Subscribe to Journeyman here: czcams.com/users/subscription_c...
In 1992 a group of heavily armed IFP alligned hostel dwellers swept through the township of Boipatong, killing, shooting and burning indiscriminately. When the killing spree was over, 45 innocent people lay dead and many others were maimed for life. Those responsible were in due course apprehended and locked up, but received amnesty from the TRC a few years later. SABC tracks down three of the Boipatong killers who have painful memories of the atrocities they performed. Powerful footage shows the killers introduced to a twelve year old girl, paralysed from the waist down. On the night of June 17 1992, someone drove a panga into her head and killed her father. Despite her pain, she is prepared to meet the men whose actions changed their lives, but is she prepared to forgive? An emotive story of reconciliation and forgiveness.

I think this part of history should be included in our school curriculums whether through plays, literature or commemorations. Otherwise history will repeat itself. Let our children feel the pain of these victims and the motives of the perpetrators so they can learn not to let it happen again. I say this cause I feel the next civil unrest wont be much about tribes but about the intolerance that we South Africans have against foreigners and other races. With the economic and political situation and the devisions that social media is creating in this country right now it will be easy and it is a matter of time before a radical leader mobilises one of theirs for selfish reasons and history repeats itself. The Durban Riots in 2021 and Phoenix massacre , #putsouthafricafirst and #operationdudula movements are just a highlight of what could potentially happen

The story is the same everywhere:
    1. FIRST, the ANC attacks opponents in townships and those who are IFP or Zulu end up in hostels or in silence.
    2. Then eventually hostels REACT.
Same story in Kagiso, Thokoza, Katlehong, Mooi River, Umlazi, everywhere; therefore teh ANC is yet to account for it is they who started all this.

The beautiful little girl lost an ability to walk on her own and cannot forgive those responsible for it and the death of his father. That is understable. Looking in from the different angle,I would like to salute those three for reaching out,to the victims, having been victims of the same themselves extending their hands asking for forgiveness. People of KwaMadala had also suffered as much as did those of Boipatong. This was tragic.(2023.09.16-21:21-socalled South Africa)

I remember watching those three gentlemen give accounts of what led to that massacre and that the decision to go out there to fight ,in retaliation, was something they planned and did on their own with no police involvement. One of those three, identified as Mr Khanyile, told the TRC that he did not see the police amongst them.(2023.09.16-21:33-socalled South Africa)

You couldn’t see scars they have? ANC must tell truth. They started with Azapo leaders killed them, even people who were in robbed island as political prisoners were killed by ANC because they wanted to be the only party that represent black voters. They did the same with IFP, to the point they said enough is enough. Learn about “People’s war” ANC strategies they learned in Vietnam in late 1970s.
