    This is one of the most desirable 1979 Trans Ams in existence. Only 9,924 actual miles. It's an original unrestored survivor, 1 owner car. It has all of the highly desirable options and a rare factory color. We have a pile of original documentation. We have the order form. This was not just bought off the lot, he ordered it with every bell and whistle. It also includes, window sticker, invoice, loan papers, build sheet and much more. It has so many options the window sticker is 2 pages.
    EXTERIOR: Beautiful rare color-Atlantis blue. Truly believed to be original paint and it still shows remarkably well. It is smooth and glossy, only a couple minor imperfections. No door dents, no rust, no cracking. The bumpers and spoilers fit real well. It has optional hood bird still in like new shape. The shaker scoop has never been cut or drilled out. It also has optional side moldings which probably saved it from a door ding or two. The optional metal door edge gaurds are not banged up. This has the optional 15x8 snowflake wheels, they are excellent. The tires were replaced. The glass T-tops are in excellent shape and have the optional locks. The door jambs are excellent, there is an oil change sticker from 1990. The window seals and weather strips are excellent. It still has original dealer Schaefer Pontiac emblem. Overall amazing original condition.
    INTERIOR: I'm sitting in the car and it's about as close to new as you will find. In front of me the dash pad is mint, there no cracks. The machine turned metal instrument panel is sparkling, all the lenses and gauges are clean, the clock is still working. The titl formula wheel is not worn. Even around the ignition it's not scratched up. The center console is not worn, broken, no cigarette burns. The upholstery is in excellent condition. The plastic trim is real nice. The headliner is excellent. The interior lights work. The light color carpet is still real nice. A carpet square was found under the seat from an assembly worker. The door panels are in excellent shape, even the chrome piping is not peeling. It does have an aftermarket radio, dash was not cut. We have the receipt, it was installed in 1980. Options include a rear defroster, delay wipers, power windows, power locks and power trunk. The original glove box pouch is in the glove box with all the books and manuals.
    ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has the very desirable 400 with W72 performance package which also includes chrome valve covers. It is the original vin # matching motor with original components. The engine compartment is very original with the exception of some minor maintenance items like converting the air to 134, replacing the radiator hoses, a new alternator and battery. The shaker air cleaner assembly is complete with all its ductwork. All the vacuum lines are still hooked up on the motor. It still has original stickers on the master cylinder and brake lines.

    Awesome find Jay, extremely beautiful car ... BUT ... 100 grand for a '79 TA?
    Oh well, someone with that sort of "pocket change" will probably scoop it up.
    Thanks for sharing Jay, always loved the TA and Z28 of that era. I was in high school in '79. I remember reading about the upcoming '79 TA in some hot rod magazine. Man, I think I would have given my left nut for one.

    I haven't seen outlined white letter tires (on cars) in years, I didn't know they make them for cars again. I'll have to get a set for my 81 TTA! So much better than full white letters, everybody including me puts on BF Goodrich TA's.

    This is incredible! I'm no fan of T-tops in sports cars, and in fact I have passed on deals in the past because of T-tops, but wow.....I wouldn't mind having this beauty sitting in my driveway!
    These unibody frames along with the camaros of that era were notorious for rusting which is why (I believe) not a lot of them are around today, but this TA breaks all of those rules, and this car has obviously been pampered and garage kept.
    And dont let the HP fool ya....these cars perform at a fantastic level!
    Great find Jay!

    At the Dallas Mecum auction 2 weeks ago, a 35 original mile 79 with the Olds 403 engine with Automatic Trans
    that was a low option car (base interior, no T-tops, no power windows or cruise control) was bid up to 140,000 dollars
    and the owner turned it down! I have a 79 Olds 403 car with every option except rear window defogger that was frame off
    restored in the early 90's and only driven 2,000 miles since then.......white with red hobnail interior, red/orange decals that is
    way way way nicer than this car.......I'm wondering what it would sell for? It seems that originality trumps a perfect frame off resto.....personally I would buy the perfect 100 point restored car....original paint on these cars was very poor at best....my car
    had such bad paint from the factory that the dealer repainted most of it when it was two months old.

    • @VoloMuseumAutoSales
      @VoloMuseumAutoSales  Před rokem

      Restorations are wonderful & can certainly make a car better than it was off the factory, absolutely! However, any car can only be original once. To some people & certainly depending on the car, originality is king!
      We offer appraisals on our website if you want a accurate price of what yours would be worth. Can be done with pictures you submit and usually a brief call to go over details.

    • @VoloMuseumAutoSales
      @VoloMuseumAutoSales  Před 3 lety

      @@1JackTorS That isn't something we would do ourselves just because. Someone may want it there, to keep with its originality & to another person it may "ruin it for them" if we remove it.
      It is the same reason we don't mess with wheels/rims. We don't mess with radios. We don't remove any stripes/decals.

    • @1JackTorS
      @1JackTorS Před 3 lety

      @@VoloMuseumAutoSales I think any serious collector would want everything that came from the factory left on the vehicle. A dealer’s tag that could scratch the paint or leave its silhouette as the paint fades is most likely not something wanted, like factory rims, radio or pin striping would be. Especially for the money your asking for this example; which I can imagine is very high.

    • @VoloMuseumAutoSales
      @VoloMuseumAutoSales  Před 3 lety

      @@1JackTorS Sure, maybe many would prefer it not, likely even the majority. And your points are certainly valid. If a prospective buyer wanted it removed, I'm sure sales could help facilitate that with a bodyshop or something to make sure it is done well. Or the buyer may even have their own shop they prefer, or do it themselves. But again, we won't just remove it ourselves because. Even if only 10% of buyers may prefer, want it or is okay with it, then its there.
