How do you get your mochi so soft and stretchy? mine gets hard super fast and impossible to roll out 😭could it be the weather?

@@u-taste yes i do! it’s currently winter right now where i live , however i still cannot get the mochi to hold a continuous stretch, it stretches while its hot and i leave it for 2-3 minutes and it becomes thick and hard to stretch, impossible to roll out and so frustrating to work with! any tips??
@@jamesw5858 try to wrap it with plastic wrap if you are going to leave it for a while. And try to knead it soft and stretchy with the stand mixer.

Maybe it's because the ratio of wet & dry ingredients. It should be 1:1, if the total of dry mixtures 200g, the total of wet mixtures also 200g

whip cream could work i guess. or anything with fat from around 10 to 20 percent could taste good I suppose. heavy cream is 20 %fat

There's a variety of things you can coat the outside of mochi with when making it. In the video, she most likely used rice flour, potato starch, or corn starch considering the powder is white. You can use matcha powder, soybean flour, powder sugar, or even cocoa powder. It really depends on the type of filling youre outting in the mochi and whether you want to add flavoring to the mochi oart itself with the powder. You definitely need to use something though when making it because the powder is used because the mochi is very sticky so adding the powder will keep it from sticking to whatever the mochi is stored on and will keep it from sticking to your hands when you eat it. If yiou dont want the powdwr to alter flavor then your best bet is to stick with rice flour, corn starch, potato starch. I believe !ost of the mochi I've had was covered in rice flour. Sadly I've only ever gotten to try icecream mochi that I purchased from my local grocery store which were mango, s'mores, double chocolate, mint chocolate and strawberry. While it tastes amazing I'm sure fresh mochi would be so much better. I really want to try mochi with fillings other than ice cream especially chocolate mochi filled with chocolate covered stawberries and whipped cream. I also am really curious about how red bean mochi would taste. I just need to find somewhwre that I can but glutinous rice. If you've tried mocbi before and like it and have also had corn bread before and liked it then I highky suggest you try mochi corn bread. I've never gotten to try it but it looks so heavenly. You make it similae to the way you make corn bread in a oan to wherw it looks like a sheet cake almost and then you cut it into oieces just like normal corn bread. The texture of it is liek mochi though. It's springy and chrwy and just looks so yummy. I am dying to make it. I saw the recipe on instagram and saved it but I bet you coukd find it on youtube as well.
I found the video showing the sweet corn mochi bread/cake and have tried every way possoble to share it in my comment by breaking up the link but my comments keep getting removed sadly. If yiu search sweet corn mochi cake though the first short that comes up is the one time talking about but theres a bunch of videos showing it and the recipe.
@@Xessa82 oh thanks,) but I thought flour are poisoness in general if to just eat raw. I try make it one time I end up vomit and sit in toilet and paralyse in bed for 12 hours roughly. )
