    I'm so grateful I discovered your channel! I've watched countless other videos and not one of them showed or told how long, if at all, to work the dough. I've made 3 batches of mochi, three different ways, and none of them were right.

      How did you manage to do it? I did steam it and it did not work. Then I used the microwave and got better but it still did not work. Did you work the dough for long?

      Yes you must make it with butter.. texture isn't right if you don't. As for milk you can use another liquid but it will not make milk mochi taste of course. I've made it with just strawberry juice instead and butter. Came out delicious

    I have a question. What do u mean of cooked glutinous rice flour. You mean we should roast it on a pan. Or spread it on a tray & put it in the oven for a while. How do u make that think?

    tried doing this recipe, but it didn't turn out well cause the dough tasted like pure butter and my family kinda disliked it.. what else can i add so it doesnt taste like that?

      Maybe you shouldn’t add anything, but remove butter instead :)
      Personally, it is the very first time I see a mochi recipe with butter in the mochi dough, which surprised me a lot.
      Glad I got someone like you in the comments sharing the experience.
      I guess you might try making the same recipe with the original mochi dough recipe.
      Best blog I have ever seen so far for original japanese recipes is Just One Cookbook.
      You might find a good one in there.
      Hope that helps :)

      Cooking time- steamer for 20-30 minutes or use a microwave for 3 minutes

    The people commenting that they like this recipe were, presumably, not paying much attention. You missed out two steps: a. I assume you microwaved the dough before adding butter, but for how long? I'd assume 2.5 minutes but that's a guess; b. Again, an assumption - was that whipped cream with some added sugar you mixed up? If so, how much of each ingredient?
    Very disappointed with the lack of attention to detail.
