  • In this video, Shaan discusses why anxiety sufferers may experience relapse and fall back into old patterns. Shaan emphasizes the importance of understanding the mechanics of anxiety and how the mind tends to focus on negative things. Shaan encourages individuals to feel the fear but respond with courage, and to develop the capacity for bravery to break the cycle of anxiety. Shaan reviews three pillars of anxiety recovery - body, behaviors, and presence - and emphasize the need to unlearn unproductive thinking habits.

Every time you experience a relapse in anxiety, you have a chance to learn and grow. It's like building calluses on your mind and nervous system, making them stronger over time. Instead of getting frustrated, try to approach it with curiosity and ask yourself, "What can I learn from this?" This positive attitude can help you develop resilience better with anxiety.
Remember, when you fight against anxiety, you're adding unnecessary stress to things that aren't actually real. So, try to shift your perspective and realize that anxiety is often based on false beliefs. By doing so, you can reduce the burden and approach anxiety with a calmer mindset.

But my anxiety is about getting psychosis.. and i question every thoughts I have . Sometimes I think what if I think too much and can't stop thinking and end up psychotic and then i m getting really anxious cos even i know i won't be psychotic I can't stop these thoughts thats make me really scared maybe I will become psychotic.. I don't have panick attacks.. it's all thoughts.. i seriously need help cos system over here is shit.. they will just give anti psychotic tablets and ruin my life

@@aravinthselvaraj7340 if you were psychotic you wouldn’t even know it. So that fact that you’re scared of that is a good sign means you’re not it.
I use this exercise called “and then what?” I do this until I see how funny and stupid are my thoughts.
What If I go crazy? “And then what?” Then I’m running around the streets? “And then what?” Then they put me in a krazy home? “And then what?” Then I’m taking pills my whole life “and then what?” And I’m never getting out? “And then what?” Then I escape the home? “And then what” then I’m back on the streets “and then what?” Lmaooo you see your mind is an asshole in this situation and you have to look at it as thoughts are endless and irrelevant. Focus more on your reaction more than your thoughts you’d be surprised!

Thank you Shaan! This was such an eye opener! I have been suffering with anxiety for almost a year now. Watching this video made me realize that I've fallen victim to the paradox of anxiety. Because I've been in that state so long, I keep myself locked in the cycle by fearing that it's gonna keep happening. Also the daily inner struggle with my own intrusive thoughts, thinking that there is something wrong with me, was keeping me stuck and that was the bulk of my problem. I've watched many of your videos, but when you mentioned "paradox" it immediately clicked in my mind that's what my problem has been all along! It's not the symptoms, it's not even anxiety in itself, it's my own thinking habits that needs to change. Once again, THANKS!

Wow.. u said exactly what I have been through.. i only had one panick attack and then i googled/CZcams to recover from this cos I didn't want it to happen again that kept me in the cycle.. actually fear of fear is what keeps it alive.. u want to get rid of it and u search things and try ways to get rid of it but what u r doing is keep remembering u have anxiety and it grows.. so just don't try to get rid of it.. avoid thinking about it.. if u can't stop thoughts then try to not act on it.. when the thoughts come try to still to what u r doing and not engage with the thought.. this is the toughest part.. once u do this then you will not only recover and will be stronger than before.. i m saying all this yet keep falling into the cycle and everytime learning something new.. it takes time.. be patient.. i m having this for 5 months now.. i m at my worst yet learning and hopefully one day i will be on the other side

    Hey Shaan,
    Love from India!
    A recent story of mine.
I slipped at waterfalls and fall from 8 to 10 feet above and my elbow got fractured where I might have lost my life but at that same time I am not even thinking about my elbow pain but in my mind still the same intrusive thoughts are going on and those are affecting me but not the situation happened.
Doctor told I need to go through surgery but still my mind is on that thoughts and I am undergoing surgery still my mind is there feeling anxious about that intrusive thought which is not at all a big deal for me earlier.
I strongly told my self that I need to fix my anxiety and need to give up medication and currently I am dealing with both my GAD and Surgery recovery.
When I have seen your video of explaining the core reason of anxiety suffering, it shows what exactly people with GAD going through and as a guy like you who experienced all this can u understand the other individuals.
    Thanks Shaan!

I would like to enlighten this a bit....firstly ignorance is not accepting and not acknowledging your anxiety....you might not willing to do the things you do before or go to those places you go before is a kind of ignorance.....Other way of ignorance is fighting with the bizarre symptoms considering it something wrong physically or mentally....or may be trying to fix these things as a part of managing the symptoms and feelings using external tools.......Now the important thing is that recovery comes Internally... Acceptance means fully dedicated on accepting whatever is happening to you and your body ....Giving positive signals to your brain and nervous system that this Alarm is not needed these symptoms are not needed and then just shift your focus on work with symptoms running along side of you

I don't know but I am cutting soda, caffeine and sugar out of my life for good now so I just drink water, orange juice and maybe apple juice that's it as a caffeine, soda addict I gotta say it's much better then still suffering cause of that much sugar intake I use to drink i'am proud of that and I hope this anxiety lifts on its own and my heart palpitations as well that this will be something of the past for me,i hope with the help of God i can now.
