@@adamperrett834 i thought i was the only one who does such thing
I bought so much product, I had to get it on finance!
Yep, I initially came on to CZcams looking for the best car wash shampoo and ooooooh did I fall into the rabbit hole 🐰 🕳.
@@lockergr It's certainly not lonely down here 😁
Klin korea duo is the best I've used.
Hey Jon, I have very recently moved over to an air blower by a company called BLO. For unprotected paintwork it is a real pain, but using it in conjunction with Angelwax bluerinse via a lance it gives an unprotected car enough 'beading' allowing the blower to work effortlessly (I use this 'trick' even when heading to cut or polish the car). It really has changed my outlook on the need for drying towels which IMHO end up costing more in the long run than the cost of one larger purchase in the BLO dryer.
This is the video I never thought I needed, but I'm glad it was made because I was about to go take a chance on some other drying towels to see if I could improve on my current one.
Hi Jon. My favourite drying towel is Liquid Elements Silverback and Autofinesse Aqua Deluxe, for dying a windows I'm using a waffle towel from Meguiar's. 😊👍
My favourite drying towel is the Griot’s Garage PFM towel, I’ve tried a few but the Griot’s gets my vote 👍
I followed your recommendation in the earlier video. Silverback for the vertical surfaces and a Gyeon Silk dryer to “matador” (nicked your term 😂) for the roof and bonnet. Works for me 👍
Great vid mate im currntley useing the new meguiars one but still have my fireball towel as well
Thanks for the vid John I haven’t got into micro fibre yet, been too busy accumulating products. I been using a faux chammy which seems to do the job. I will move up to the micros next year when the weather picks up. Even with what I have bought so far my garage/diy cave is getting short on storage space.
Had my silverback well over a year now and love it. I use your trick with the baby hair brush after it's been washed to fluff up the fibres and it stays good as new.
The Sucker Jr is a good one too, from DPC and LM.
Perfect timing! I'm just in the market for a couple of new ones. Any chance you could do a test on Yum Car details products at some point and put them against some more well known names? I'd really love to see how they compare!
I bought the Silverback after your 1st review and have used it ever since. Great towel so thanks for the recommendation!
You got like 3 parts video of the best drying towel video Jon. Hard to recall all of the towels now 😂
Lovely Jubbly, very interesting towel review, many thanks.
Your first video when you concluded the silver back to be the best drying towel was the only influence i needed to go grab one for myself. I agree that it is an amazing towel.
The biggest game changer for me with drying my car has been the use of a drying aid. I use ONR personally and it's great! If you don't use a drying aid you need to when using towels for sure.
Ive got the blue aqua deluxe. Great towel no problems 1 year old lasting well
so excited for a new vid, my fav drying towel is Geon's big purple one.
I moved from waffle weave to the in2detailing drinker. I use the waffle weave for motorbikes as they are the right size and the drinker for my car. Seems to have lost its edge now after 6 months of being used once a week but still pretty good. Will probably carry it through to the spring and grab myself a fresh one.
I like the "Sucker" from DPC/Luxury Microfiber. It dries my F150 like a boss... Waffle weaves for the glass are a MUST.
Favorite towels are the Klin Duo drying towel and Griots drying towel so good brotha
i use a very high quality shammy to dry my towels, it sucks the water out of them! i think you should do a video on it. ill post a vid in patreon of how i do this.
Jon, I've stoped using Drying towls. Found they caused too much drag. I now use Larry from Ammo NYC's tip. Some angel wax Blue Rinse, followed by some megs ultimate detailer diluted 1:1, and then a damp microfibre towl. Much prefer this to a dry towl, being pulled across a wet panel.
hey, is there a video on this method? would love to find out more
Hi Jon, I’ve just ordered the auto finnese drying towel, can’t wait to give it a go. Just wish I’d of watched your video before and I’d of probably ordered the silver back.!!! :) nice content mate
Hey Jon. What are your thoughts on using DI water and leaving the car to dry on its own v one of these towels?
maybe an update video on Drying Techniques this week to follow this up? i tend to pat dry the hood and boot. and once the towel is wet ill drag it over the roof and windows.
Hi mate. Love the channel. I was just wondering what is the best way to clean chrome style trim on the exterior of a car. No one on CZcams seems to have covered it. Chrome trim gets really crappy looking even after a car wash so any advice would be great or even a video on it. Thanks!
liam it depends what it is... somoe is chrome, other is plastic chrome effect, some is actualoly clear coated.. if its chromne the metal polish tidys it up. if its p[lastic, needf tyo bgr carefull using abrasives. if its cc then mild polish/glaze/cleaner wax.
I am currently in love with the CarPro dehydrate, the smaller of the 2 so it's easier to wring out. It's twist knot technology just like the gyeon series. Just drag and its bone dry with very little pressured contact at all if any which is what we want so we don't induce marring. I don't use any drying aids either I would recommend especially if you own more than one car and wish to wash and dry both without having a sopping wet gorilla towel.
Been using the meguiars water magnet waffle towel for ages and been noticing it’s hardly picking up the water anymore so found my in2detailing twisted towel that I’ve never got round to using, safe to say I have a new fave. More than big enough to dry my car and was still mainly dry at the end. Might buy another as a spare 🤣🤣
I've had the purple monster towel and it was good but not amazing. I just bought the autofinnese towel and I actually really like it, I haven't had a problem at all with lint. But it dries my Mini very happily.
You already did a video like thia and the Liquid Elements you suggested was really a wonderful towel.
It has a huge water absorption capacity.
i personally use one for non coated / one for coated / one for drying after i have used some sort of liquid wax on wet surface that i have rinsed. And test towels...
Hi Jon love the vids keep them coming, I did use a auto finesse until my wife dropped it then it had to be thrown away as there was no way on earth I would use it again so I'm looking for a new one this vid was really educational. thanks 👍👍👍
Hi Jon, I’ve recently got back into a bit of detailing! Great channel! Love it!
Have you tried the Sam’s detailing drying towel?
Thanks
No m8
I get through loads of towels so buy autosmart ones in bulk which are pretty good
I use the Auto Finesses Aqua deluxe as they had a 3 for 2 deal a while back. Also have some large waffle weaves (can't remember the brand) that I have had for years that now are reserved for wheel drying.
I use the Liquid Elements Silverback (after seeing it in the original video). Been using it for 6-months or so now, and it’s ideal. It dries my large estate car with no problems. Washes and dries well, and it seems as good as the day I got it ... thanks for the recommendation :)
Im using the in2detailing orange towel same you have.
Have tried using the auto finesse deluxe towel but not the best trying to use on a few cars.
Hi john using the aqua delux works well but feel a bit knotty after a while so the silver back is on the Christmas list 👍🏻 where did you get the plush blue ones at the end you didnt say ? Thanks
I've got a silver back xl ready to try out. 👍
I got the gyeon after watching your review. Only had it a short time but it seems really good.
What happened to it?
Been using the Silverback for about a year now & it's excellent. Wash after each use & it's wearing well. Got the autoglym but only used it a couple of times. Use rag company black diamond weave cloths on glass.
Silverback all day long Jon. Bought it off your recommendation and it's been performing excellently ever since. Waffles for windows as well. Nice little revisit on what was a great review. Keep up the great work and looking forward to your next vid 👍🏻
I'm not happy with it. It smears the water around and leaves a wet surface
At the moment I don't REALLY use a drying towel, I use a drying aid with two Bowdensown Big Softie towels.
My mum however loves the ease of a drying towel and is currently using an ANKO Supreme Drying Towel from K-Mart. Was about $4.
Hi Jon, currently my favourite drying towel is from Paragon, their Diamond Weave. Not as heavy as some of the other towels once they get wet. I don't like a towel to get heavy and drag on the paintwork
Going to get one of them ocd on you're recommendation also putting some infinity turbo 6 wax on tomorrow. (Weather permiting)
Hi Jon I heard so many good things about the dry me crazy towels but I ended up buying 3 as they didn’t soak up enough water,I drive an 18 plate golf so not a big car.i prefer the fireball clothes,2 is enough to completely dry my whole car.i use swissvax waffles for my glass.
My go to drying towels are the Sucker/Sucker Jr from Dallas Paint Correction and Luxury Microfiber, just flat out great! These towels are very heavy, especially the regular Sucker. I also use Griot's Garage PFM's too, as well as their waffle weave towel for my windows👍👍
Great video. For general microfiber clothes for buffing/interior work...which of your videos would be the best to watch?
try rag company edgless 300 towels in blue. sweet general purpose nice value. In you want very very cheap. check out paragone microfiber eco 250 or their premium 300.
@@ForensicDetailing cheers John. I've been detailing as a hobby for years but I've never really found a good MF. To the point that I've got a DI vessel so I don't have to dry the car now if I don't want to.
i have a chemical guys orange drying towel i think and i really like it because it is really easy to ring out when it gets wet. some like Geon's which is my favorite are hard to ring out.
The only detailing channel I watch buddy . I'm just building my kit for first time. I keep searching your videos 🤣 searched your channel for best drying towels. Then I'll look for brushes etc. Trying to stay low budget. Not professional, just for my family cars
Hi John have you tried ez towels they seem to be good
Hey do you know you can add a 1/4 to 1/2 cup of white vinegar to your wash to unclog up the wax and dirt etc out of the fibers? I did it recently and my towels are like new again
Ive had and used AutoFinesse's drying towel for months, used it on over 150 vehicles, multiples times daily before washing it and it's honestly my favourite, it sucks water up, it's soft, never had any lint issue, washes and becomes brand new, only issue I have with it is that once it is dry and you use it then it doesn't perform as well until wet which is odd but regardless a very good towel and reasonably priced.
D0DG3R sounds like you need a new detergent. It's leaving a coat of something on the towel preventing it from soaking when dry.
Good points, thanks for the tips.
I've got 3 super plush drying towels from Adam's as well as a normal waffle weave towel! Great!
Do you use any drying aids, if so could you do a video comparison on those?
Autoglym Instadry for the majority (Not for swirl free paint though.),
Auto Finesse Aqua Deluxe for the finessing
and a cheap smaller drying towel for the door shuts etc
Just bought the Meguiar's Supreme drying towel and will try that next. (In the winter kit, £54 in Halfords)
I also have the TRC Pluffle, i agree with you about the waffle weave, not sure it helps but its different and that's why i bought it :)
I have something coming soon alex.
I have two of the autofinesse drying towels and both of them have lost their effectiveness quite quickly.
Now on the gyeon silk dryer and I love it, the only downside is it’s one sided so can’t handle the water that a two sided towel could.
My next purchase will be a silverback, everyone whose used them seems to love them
I haven't found a particular winner, honestly. I did, however, find that I prefer a 16x16 size towel because they are just so much easier to wring out and I'd rather wring it out one or twice per panel than wreck my hands trying to wring a towel that you can do a quarter or half a car at a time.
Do you use the autofinesse completly dry at the first contact?
I picked up Autobrite Directs The Hustler from Waxstock for £9, pretty good towel but it's single sided so I'm looking for a double sided towel now.
Got a fair few drying towels, my favourite has to the new carpro dehydrate towels, really lightweight, yet very absorbent, other favourite is the klin korea duo evo.
Hi Jon. Do you recommend to damp the drying towel before drying or it's not necessary?
no you will just loose absorption. a dry towel works better than a wet one. You can spritz some drying aid onto the panel or towel maybe, although I dont subscribe that a towel needs to lubricated but putting a drying aid on the panel can really make life easier. certain things like this fall into the catagory of each to their own. As long as you dont go turbo buffing your towel with loads of pressure into or over the paint anything goes.
I bought the silverback off your recommendation and hasn’t missed a beat. If I won a comp and had the choice, wouldn’t mind the fireball or another silverback as I think they are amazing towels. Woolie mammoth looks decent also.
If you are feeling flush with towels Jon haha
There are two towels I use any more. The Double twistress korean for the paint and the Miner twisted loop for the wheels. Tne use the double for removing wax or polish, for putting on detail spray ect. I am tired of the lint
I just bought and used the AF Aqua Deluxe, slight linting but suspect I should have put it on a machine wash before use.
I use a couple of Peak microfiber 32x24 inch drying towels. It’s really soft and shaggy, gets HEAVY from all the water it absorbs.
I have 2 Autobrite towels. The big one is OK but can get heavy as it gets wetter, the smaller one is cracking on wheels and tight areas but isn't enough for a whole car. Both leave streaks behind them, not sure if that's technic or how I'm caring for em, and I am meaning to get another sorted so this video could be more than helpful
how to wash your drying towels...? i use concentrated dove dish soap with extra degreasing power and a little bit of oxy clean. i toss them in the dryer for 10-15min on medium if they are pretty wet still just to get them to a dampish state and then hang them on a coat hanger to dry fully
You should test the new Black Hole from Liquid Elements. It is like the Gyeon but with two sides of twisted fibers and no edge. Really good quality and very unique on the market. My personal preference. Can take lots of water and the twisted fibers are very easy to maintain, always like new!
I got really good results from the Polished Bliss drying towel which is good value at a tenner. Lasted really well too. Tried the Auto Finesse offering recently but it’s probably not quite as good. Still decent but a bid draggy as you highlighted Jon.
I have the Korean dual twist pile towel that you recommend, it was great for the first use, but not so for the second use. Should I be washing it after every use or am I missing something else? Cheers
I tend to wash it after every use. maybe in summer ill sometimes just hang it. did you wash it with just pure non bio. no tumble drying either.
@@ForensicDetailing I didn’t wash it lol… just let it dry in the garage. I’ve since watched the video on washing drying towels so going to get some liquid non-bio stuff tomorrow.
If I'm honest I've never really thought about towls. I just use Meguiars. 1 large and 3 small (for low areas and tight spots) I should really buy a decent 1.
Was that really 4 years ago? I have the silver back as I only do my own car and it’s spot on not really tried anything else.
Like the look of a few of the mini towels though now
TRC Platinum Pluffle is very good, and I like the new Double Twistress, but its not as big as the Pluffle i have (which has wore out after many years service), but does the job very well on my Outback. TRC Waffle weave/The Diamond cloths for glass, perfect with Gyeon Glass & Rain-X.
I love using the auto finesse drying towel and the dooka drying towel
hi mate im looking for a good drying towel ...what would you advice me today please?
Try rag master gauntlet or in2detailing Korean dual sided twist knitt the orange one
Dont you have the drynosaur towel 65/35blend split pile John? I bought three of them before they got discontinued😂
Hi Jon, Looking for some advice, looking to one step my dads range rover evoque and was wondering if you had recommendations, I was going to use 3M Polish with a Chemical guys heavy polishing pad would this work?
try Koch F6 with the new Koch yellow pad of the chemical guys green pad.
Gyeon silk dryers X2 used in rotation for bodywork. I wouldn't feel confident keeping anything larger under control and off the ground!
Also use generic cheapo microfibre towels for doorshuts and wheels where they get more aggressively used.
Brought a silverback off of your recommendation and it's been great always. Waffles for the windows though.
I bought a silverback from the recommendation too, the scariest online shopping experience of my life, but he does dry the car rather nice.
Are Glart brand any good ? The 443TP. ? Thanks
Jon I'd like to see a bargain basement towel review! Wilko does a big plush microfiber which I've now gone and cleared the shelves of. I don't like to use these expensive ones on neglected cars, shuts, removing polish residue etc.
Love my Silver Back, but need a new one soon, current one is 2 years old. It just been too good to give up on.
Big fan of the Rag Company Twistress, will probably replace all my others with those when they have had their day.
Twisted loop 1200GSM Maxshine, the one wilson said he likes. Does a good job for soaking up the water
Are the twisted pile towels suitable for soft black paint? I have heard some people were getting scratches in the forums.
towels dont scratch, small bits of grit do. The twisted pile are not as soft and absorbant as like coral fleece towels but its how you use them that counts. gentle on the surfce, never pressure in.. NEver Buff the panels when you dry ideally specially with twisted loop towels.. gentle gentle :)
I’ll be getting one of those next, I was very disappointed with the woolly mamouth.
I use the absorber xl it Last a long time.
it didn't break the bank and like the name says, absorbs everything in sight.
I still have my silver back from purchasing after seeing your vid a couple of years back. Still going strong.
What brand are the blue small drying towels you said in the last part of the videos for door shuts etc?
in2detailing supersaurus
Greetings from Croatia. I have two questions. Do you squeeze water from towel when you finish drying car or do you leave it to dry on air? Second question is, do you wash drying towel after every use? I know that those questions may sound silly but I am newbie in detailing world. P. S. Sorry if my english is lousy. :-)
hey borko in the summer I sometimes just put the towel on a cloths horse and ill use it again as long as I know its clean. If its dripping wet sure I might wring it out first. In the winter the towel wont dry, so will typically make up a load and wash and dry them inside.
Thank you very much for answer.
Doesn't overtime a leaf blower just makes sense since you can only use it in your driveway as well as to dry off your car? Are there downsides that I'm missing? You can find cordless leaf blowers on Amazon for like $69. Same with power washers; they are far cheaper than I anticipated and they can do my siding, concrete, fencing, trash and recycling bins, and of course my car. I was looking at the spray pumps, but if you've got a garage, I don't, why not go all in?
Try the Autoglym Hi-Tech Microfibre Drying Towel. I had one given to me. Does a great job
The new one by Autoglym we used it in the course 2 weeks ago. They are quite good towels.
i like a waffle weave for glass cleaning
My favourite towel is the Metro master blaster with any drying microfiber towel to catch the run off.
Not sure why you did this video John tbh, thought it might be an update with a new winner!
Hi Jon,
Do you know if the Kl!n Duo and in2detail towel are different in any way? Lots of people swear by the Kl!n but they look very similar to me...
I dont mate know but bear in mind most of it comes from a handfull of mills if its korean. typically if its korean its good. So klin or in2detailing will do really both are korean.
Thanks for the reply Jon, very good of you to make the time for viewers.
What's your wash / cleaning process for microfibre
I have shot a video covering this munir.
How do you maintain the towels after drying aid with ceramic?
How do u clean those
Just wash m8
@@ForensicDetailing can i wait a few days or just directly wash it
yes m8
I'm using the Gauntlet style Turtle Wax one. It's very good for £10
