    Hey Jon, I have very recently moved over to an air blower by a company called BLO. For unprotected paintwork it is a real pain, but using it in conjunction with Angelwax bluerinse via a lance it gives an unprotected car enough 'beading' allowing the blower to work effortlessly (I use this 'trick' even when heading to cut or polish the car). It really has changed my outlook on the need for drying towels which IMHO end up costing more in the long run than the cost of one larger purchase in the BLO dryer.

    I am currently in love with the CarPro dehydrate, the smaller of the 2 so it's easier to wring out. It's twist knot technology just like the gyeon series. Just drag and its bone dry with very little pressured contact at all if any which is what we want so we don't induce marring. I don't use any drying aids either I would recommend especially if you own more than one car and wish to wash and dry both without having a sopping wet gorilla towel.

    Ive had and used AutoFinesse's drying towel for months, used it on over 150 vehicles, multiples times daily before washing it and it's honestly my favourite, it sucks water up, it's soft, never had any lint issue, washes and becomes brand new, only issue I have with it is that once it is dry and you use it then it doesn't perform as well until wet which is odd but regardless a very good towel and reasonably priced.

    I haven't found a particular winner, honestly. I did, however, find that I prefer a 16x16 size towel because they are just so much easier to wring out and I'd rather wring it out one or twice per panel than wreck my hands trying to wring a towel that you can do a quarter or half a car at a time.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  Před 4 lety +1

      no you will just loose absorption. a dry towel works better than a wet one. You can spritz some drying aid onto the panel or towel maybe, although I dont subscribe that a towel needs to lubricated but putting a drying aid on the panel can really make life easier. certain things like this fall into the catagory of each to their own. As long as you dont go turbo buffing your towel with loads of pressure into or over the paint anything goes.

    Hi Jon, Looking for some advice, looking to one step my dads range rover evoque and was wondering if you had recommendations, I was going to use 3M Polish with a Chemical guys heavy polishing pad would this work?

    Gyeon silk dryers X2 used in rotation for bodywork. I wouldn't feel confident keeping anything larger under control and off the ground!
    Also use generic cheapo microfibre towels for doorshuts and wheels where they get more aggressively used.

    Brought a silverback off of your recommendation and it's been great always. Waffles for the windows though.

      I bought a silverback from the recommendation too, the scariest online shopping experience of my life, but he does dry the car rather nice.

    Jon I'd like to see a bargain basement towel review! Wilko does a big plush microfiber which I've now gone and cleared the shelves of. I don't like to use these expensive ones on neglected cars, shuts, removing polish residue etc.

    Twisted loop 1200GSM Maxshine, the one wilson said he likes. Does a good job for soaking up the water

    Are the twisted pile towels suitable for soft black paint? I have heard some people were getting scratches in the forums.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  Před 3 lety

      towels dont scratch, small bits of grit do. The twisted pile are not as soft and absorbant as like coral fleece towels but its how you use them that counts. gentle on the surfce, never pressure in.. NEver Buff the panels when you dry ideally specially with twisted loop towels.. gentle gentle :)

    I use the absorber xl it Last a long time.
    it didn't break the bank and like the name says, absorbs everything in sight.

    Greetings from Croatia. I have two questions. Do you squeeze water from towel when you finish drying car or do you leave it to dry on air? Second question is, do you wash drying towel after every use? I know that those questions may sound silly but I am newbie in detailing world. P. S. Sorry if my english is lousy. :-)

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  Před 4 lety

      hey borko in the summer I sometimes just put the towel on a cloths horse and ill use it again as long as I know its clean. If its dripping wet sure I might wring it out first. In the winter the towel wont dry, so will typically make up a load and wash and dry them inside.

    Doesn't overtime a leaf blower just makes sense since you can only use it in your driveway as well as to dry off your car? Are there downsides that I'm missing? You can find cordless leaf blowers on Amazon for like $69. Same with power washers; they are far cheaper than I anticipated and they can do my siding, concrete, fencing, trash and recycling bins, and of course my car. I was looking at the spray pumps, but if you've got a garage, I don't, why not go all in?

    Not sure why you did this video John tbh, thought it might be an update with a new winner!

    Do you know if the Kl!n Duo and in2detail towel are different in any way? Lots of people swear by the Kl!n but they look very similar to me...
