  • One of my most requested videos is how to grow a pumpkin arch like I did last year. So in this video I aim to give you all the advice and tips you'll need to create a pumpkin arch, just like I did in 2021.
I'll be doing a grow-a-long on here and on my instagram (with @pumpkins_etc) in March 2022 so you will be able to grow when I do!
    ARCHWAYS: www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-24m...
    PUMPKIN VARIETEIS:
    Baby boo
    Jack be littles
This year I'll be adding: patty pans and Uchiki Kuri too!

If you water the ground before putting the posts/stakes in it is far easier. The soil also forms like clay around the base with the wet mud.Hope this is helpful,a kind wise gardener once shared this with me so I'm passing it on

Hi Emma, I’ve been watching you for over a year now and your pumpkin archway was my fave! It inspired me to do it this year. I’ve got Jack be little and honey bear acorn squash seeds. Just need to get those arch’s ordered!
Love your videos, as do my kids! You’ve really inspired us to get growing 💕

I don't have an allotment but I do have a very small back garden so I Built myself a "repurposed wood" arch after watching "Jessie at plot 37" and was so happy with the results from french beans so this may well be a second planting idea. thanks Emma.

Well done on your pumpkin arch, loved watching them grow over the summer.I have a triple arch similar to yours and grew butternut squash, pumpkin and courgettes up mine as well as sweet peas. Going to try mini pumpkins this year too after seeing yours do so well.

Well done Emma. What an achievement! Although I'm a very experienced gardener myself, I've never done a pumpkin arch before. However, you've definitely inspired me and I already have small Turks Turban pumpkins on the go so I'll get my arch ordered from Wilko. I'm in the north of Scotland so I might have to leave it a bit later before I plant them out / whack em in! X

I've got 2 wilko arches side by side, tied off with thick cable ties for extra strength. Mine have baby boo and red kuri. The baby boo are excellent, so many fruit on the vines, but the red kuri are rubbish, just 1 on the vine.
Happy gardening, keep up the great work.

    @mikebayliss8598 Před 2 lety

Instead of string to tie together you can get re usable cable ties, far quicker, tighter, easy to take apart & you can save for other jobs. When cutting off your pumkins cut it so it has inch or so of the stem from the plant like a letter T with pumkin at the bottom of the T.

I'd maybe have used a softer larger mesh than the chicken wire, I'd be worried the pumpkins will garrote themselves under their own weight on the hard thin wire. Good luck with the harvest

Hey Emma. Do you find you have to help fertilise the pumpkins for better results or do you find they generally sort themselves out. Strange question I know. I just noticed I’ve had a few female flowers grow with a little “pumpkin” only to die out days later. They are still growing and are still producing flowers everyday. Now over a metre high. Is this normal? That loads female flowers don’t produce and it’s just a waiting game?

I loved this x I'm growing in my garden at home so I don't have a great place for the arches. But I'm going to create a place against a wall on one side of the house.
Did you plant the Baby Boo on one side and the Jack Be Little on the other? I'm thinking I'll just do two each but wondering if I should mix them up or not. Also, which did better - the compost or manure side?
