    Truly we are spoiled for choice with short telephoto lenses these days:- Viltrox (56 f1.4 and f1.7), Sigma and now TTartisans. I remember back when I started getting seriously into photography in the '80s you could not get a short telephoto of quality for less than a big bunch of money. If one was not a pro or loaded you had to settle for a zoom or a 135mm, or not bother. As I have had the Viltrox f1.4 for a few years now, I am not in the market for a 56mm any more, but if I were I would probably go for the Viltrox 56mm f1.7 due to its smaller size, but I would definitely be happy with this TTartisans model too. You don't need super fast lenses. They are unnecessarily large and heavy and cost a small fortune.

    I just bought the 56mm Viltrox, but love the TTArtisan 27mm AF. Is there much difference between the TT or the Viltrox 56mm?

    Have you tested the new Viltrox 56mm 1.7 ? Some youtubers say it is slightly sharper than this TTArtisan

      Viltrox AF 56mm f/1.7 ($158) vs. TTArtisan 56mm f/1.8 ($139) is the lens comparison we need to see _now._
      C'mon Tudor, get on it already! haha

      Yes, I want to see a comparison between these 2 lenses too. I'm leaning towards the viltrox simply because it seems smaller and lighter but I want to see a direct comparison first.

    Thanks for this review. So many solid choices now. I'm on the fence between this and the Meike 55mm F1.4. Have you tried it?

    • @Tudor_Mateescu
      @Tudor_Mateescu  Pƙed 2 měsĂci

      No... I searched now, and it seems it is not too sharp at f1.4. TTArtisan I think is the best budget regarding AF size sharpness build quality. Sigma is ok but the AF is behind TTArtisan.

    Hi Tudor. Do you think this one is better than Fujifilm 50mm f2? Is there a big difference with f2 vs f1.8? I’m deciding which one to buy? Thank you. Jeff.

      @Tudor_Mateescu  Pƙed 3 měsĂci

      Personally I like more TTARTISAN than the 50mm:
      - more reach
      - better compression
      - perfect for portraits (the 50mm is too short for this)
      - f1.8 aperture it feels.
      This TTArtisan is my number one choice for street photography and portraits, because the AF is fast and accurate compared to the sigma 56mm.
      The 50mm F2 is good when you want a short telephoto lens for fine art street photography, tight compositions and on the go portraits. The glass and resolution are also very good and it's weather resistant.

    How does it compare to Fuji 50mm f2 (which also should resolve 40MP, has slightly wider focal length of course).

    • @Tudor_Mateescu
      @Tudor_Mateescu  Pƙed 3 měsĂci +1

      Both are great, I like the 56mm more because of the reach - better for portraits and street photography.

    Loved the contrast on your images with this. Do you know if it is weather sealed?
    I already have the sigma 56, but never take it out when raining, so I just ordered the fuji 50m f2... Your review got me wondering if i should cancel and get the ttartisan.

    • @Tudor_Mateescu
      @Tudor_Mateescu  Pƙed 3 měsĂci

      No weather sealing. For me is 56mm - 50mm Fuji is ok but I rarely use it.
