- My 2006 Honda Big Ruckus (PS250) I purchased in 2010 when it was four years old and had 5,000 miles on it. Currently (2023) it has 25,000 miles on it. It's a beautiful well kept example of one of these bikes. Well maintained and stored indoors. It has many upgrades for performance - handling - and comfort. This bike has been well loved and taken on many adventures.
Can believe it still looks so perfect! LOVE THAT Scoot!
And how you sound so chill about all these amazing, classy, smart upgrades!
Thank you BJ!!!
Gawd I wish these were still made!!!!😍
Very good!
Yup - I wish a modern take on this.
Just wanted to give a big thanks for making such a thorough video on a fascinating machine. These are really unappreciated bikes... I guess the poor sales figures makes that obvious... but I'd suggest it was ahead of its time.
Vespa 300 in the background and I know you are authentic! Had a white vespa 300 and now thinking of a Big Ruckus!
Hi Anthony, my wife and I just watched your video on our new bike.. We can not wait..
Congrats on the bike - I sold the bike to Anthony last year. I am the second owner from 2010-2023. I did all the mods and work on it. Anthony purchased it from me back in June :)
Nice Bike! You have explained things so well as if you were talking to me. Thank you so much.
I like sharing my vehicles. This has been a fun 13 year trip with this bike.
Awesome video and BR mods! I have a 2006 BR as well and also installed the same Bitubo rear shock. I’ve only had my BR for about 3 years and it only has 6K miles, but I need to do those mods on the drivetrain. I absolutely love it and like you, the bike has become kinda my identity in my hometown. Nothing like riding a unicorn! Ride safe!
The final drive mods are key. If anything else just put the 21 gram sliders in (doctor pulley brand) and do the jet swap. It's like adding 100cc to the engine 😊
I had the exact jet sizes you mentioned that I ordered two years ago and your video inspired me to install them this morning. You’re right, the BR is peppier and has a lot more power. I should have installed the jets when I received them. I installed the 21 gram sliders not long after I got the scooter. I’m probably going to order the contra spring and the clutch springs as you mentioned.
@@MT-rl3dg excellent. I'm glad I could inspire. It's amazing how much improved throttle response and performance is from such a cheap mod!
Bonjour. 🇨🇭
Such a beautiful machine. Sadly they don't sell it in my country, i would trade my limbs for that thing
Bought my 06 new off the showroom floor. I've had motorcycles my entire adult life. I did the big cruiser thing, the sport bike thing, the Harley thing and the dirt bike thing. I was at the point where I just wanted to ride and not work hard at it. I'm 71 now, and I do believe the ease of riding this beast has extended my riding years. I added a windshield, did the jet change and slider change a few years back and it certainly has affected my mpg....because it's just SO DAMN FUN to roll the gas on!!!
Hi my name is LeRoy, I live in south west Florida and am lucky to have a 05 and 06,great bikes so much fun to ride, its nice to see your bike and how well you take care of it love your video!
Awesome scoot. Wish I could afford it. Feel ya on DC traffic.
Nice bike, I have the same model in green here in cork City, Ireland. I think there are only a handful mabey five or six of them in total in the country. They attract a lot of curiosity. At 63 it suits me quite well .heading to killarney at the start of June for the big bike rally, good fortune to you and yours. Michael....
Great bikes to lean back and relax
It’s beautiful. I’d love to have one yet I know I don’t have the money to keep it in this beautiful clean state.
So well done mate! Excellent video and presentation! GL with the sale, an easy bargain at that!
Sweet bike
Thank you!
Excellent
Such a sweeet setup ! I just pulled mine out of storage after 14 years and am just wondering where to get all the new parts needed. Wonder if Honda still sells the intake air filter let alone belts as I am in Ontario Canada and have fears of not being able to get parts. I heard of a replacement carb setup that runs better but it now being 2024, are there still stuff available.
PS: Love the grey colour over my yellow paint.
i have one my self like some of your mods
Very nice.
The main spring, is that the polini part # 243.072? You able to find this in the USA? Seems I can only find it in Europe.
I have a 2006 Big Ruckus that I bought new. It has less than 15K miles on it. I added a windshield to it. It's always been garaged. I'm seriously considering selling it because as you can tell by the mileage, I just don't use it enough and the scooter has aged better than I have.
Curious if you've sold yours and if so, how much you sold it for?
I got $3500 - not bad. Even though she was amazingly clean - she did have 25k miles. I purchased the bike in 2010 for $3200 with 5k miles on it.
I hate driving a car around DC traffic on I-95 - I can't imagine it on a bike!
I am eyeing on this for casual riding in the city. Found one but condition is questionable.. how hard is it to work on these?
Not hard to work on at all.
do you still have it. i’ll buy it
Beautiful! How much are you selling this for?
Thank you

Why was the model discontinued?
No one purchased them. They just sat on the dealer floors.
No fuel injection
No rear disk brake (rear drum brake from 1950s era was the only option)
Tiny donut 12 in tires
No ABS brakes on Front or Rear
Can't sell 1985 Honda Helix tech in 2005 with just an "industrial makeover."
People aren't that dumb. Esp when parting with their hard earned dollars. Which is why they sat and sat. Sure they got looks, but not purchases. Dealers could not get rid of them.
Back in 2003, Honda already had a 250cc Reflex with front and rear disk brakes, optional front and rear ABS, larger diameter tires, sport bike looks and FASTER due to aerodynamics. The Honda Reflex 250 was a 21st century vehicle. Big Ruckus was a 20th century vehicle with "lipstick on the pig."
You're welcome!
Morning from Kent England. Did I hear you say that the engine is a diesel?
Been looking to obtain a bike or reverse trike.
Enjoyed your video, you, your ride.
It’s a analogy. It’s a diesel like engine :) low rpm power
