It was a joy to watch you work with a gentle hand with your new horse. Knowing how you approach life, I am not surprised to see you work with Peso this way. The world needs more people like you.
Finding pesos soul is no differnt than my 2 pit bulls, you learn there traits, personality, you dont break them you encourage them to learn and abide.Peso will learn whats good and learn the rules in time.
Horses have good and bad days like any of us. Pesos is beautiful and seems like a real sweet one and calm. I can no longer ride because of health problems but sure do miss it and my sweet girl gypsy that I had for 19 yrs. We had a great relationship and made some great memories. I love horses they are so therapeutic. I am a retired nurse and she helped me so much with stress management from my job. Enjoyed your video I just found your channel thank you.
It's absolutely true, if the horse isn't connected to you on the ground, there is no chance he/she will suddenly develop connection when you're mounted. First things first.
There is nothing I would rather do than ground work. Sometimes, I would rather do ground work than ride. I truly believe through years of doing this, nothing develops a better relationship than being eye to eye.
Very happy for you, Dewayne. The two of you seem like a great match. Great insigjt into the importance of setting the tone. I would daresay most folks Ive been around completely overlook that. Cowboy energy, baby.
Howdy 🤠 from Texas… Brother… I enjoy watching your CZcams videos keep them coming we really appreciate your wisdom and sense of humor.. It would be nice if I could come to your school someday.. God bless you and your family -Sig
See those half-moons on the backside of Dewayne's jeans (3:58)? That's from actual saddle time. I remember back in the early-ish to mid 80's when those were being bleached into jeans. 😉
Dewayne, love watching your videos. I use a D ring snaffle bit made of sweet iron with copper inlays. As you pointed out, ground work is the foundation! I have clients bring me problem horses. The majority of the time, the issues can be resolved by finding out what part of ground work was missed. Clients ask me why I'm not riding their horse. I explain that the ground work is resolving the issue. Slow and steady wins the race. I watch you and other trainers to increase the tools in my toolbox. Thanks for sharing your videos.
I found it funny how the other horse ran away from that little rope swinging. Our horse is pushy on the ground. Was swinging tail of the lead at my side to encourage him to not pull ahead and he just walked forward until rope was just thwacking him on the nose. Didn’t phase him at all! Contrast in their responses to swinging rope.
I think you picked a good one - Peso will take you beautifully into the senior years of life! Don't ever stop doing what God put you on this earth to do.
Thank you, thank you for sharing the “proper” way to start a partnership with a new horse. You confirmed my views( I question them at times because of what I see others doing) on working with a new horse which helps build a lasting connection. You have a beautiful horse inside and out and he is lucky to have you, congratulations!
Beautiful horse Dewayne. Congratulations. Sure would be an honor to meet you in person and learn some horse techniques from you. Have a great weekend. Be safe.
I love watching you work your horse and listening to you talk about your horse.... wonderful! Reminds me of my Dad who grew up (being the smallest of the family) being the first to work with the horses on the property. Sadly the ranch was sold, we moved south, and the only teaching my Dad could share was how to shift gears on a truck.... wish that my Dad and I could have connected about horses. Blessings to you.
Very nice training, mind, and temperament on your new horse. The fact that he's only 4 makes it even more impressive. I hope you two have many wonderful rides together.
I love how you work. My 2 have always been on a Horsemanship yard. They are chill when I mount up, they are chill afterwards. They won't move until I up my energy. No grass whilst we work that includes leading.
I have very much enjoyed the video, and learned a little more about horsemanship thank you and they say you can't teach old dogs new tricks, you proven that wrong 😊
Looks like a great start. Would love to see more of the horse training videos like in the beginning of the channel. Love all of the videos but always need more horse training tips for myself to work on.
I know nothing about horses, but the more I watch this I see a way of thinking that ive had for a while with other things.. I set the pace... others do tings one way and that's okay, I can do things mine. someday I'd like to learn from a level headed instructor like you sir, blessings.
Thanks for sharing this information with us. I appreciate your content. I'm learning a lot about horses and the training. I'm almost 52 years old and enjoy the time you spend taking it slow with the horse.
Good morning Dewayne, we have been using your sausage and scrambled egg mixture for breakfast and even dinner its real good. I try to watch almost all your videos, I no longer have horses, life changes but im a horseman at heart always. Im 71 and I love your spiritual outlook and horsemanship videos. you treat your horses very similar to the way I treated mine. Great stuff on this channel.
Sir you are awesome, I agree with you and thank you for sharing. I agree with you there’s still honest people out there but it’s becoming more rare in this day and time.
I am soooooo excited about You finding Your Own Horse ! Peso is STUNNING! And actually is the Same Color as Bear ! Love the sweet moments You Two had during this video. Not being in a hurry is huge in my book . Thank you for sharing Your new Adventure with Us. I know this is a long awaited desire of yours. A Desire fulfilled makes the Heart Happy and full of Life ♥️ I am grateful to know you and Mamma , Jubilee and Peso 🌟 Laura 💞Bear p.s. Bear is actually Gary’s now .
I just got my "new horse to ride" as well. I like to take it slow to settle them in and make sure that we can work together properly for life, similar to what you're showing here!
I know it goes without saying Dwayne but you be sure to let those folks know how well a job they done and his positive adjustment to his new environment. You found another horse to ride.
Congratulations. Peso seems like a real sweetheart. ❤ I enjoyed this video. A good reminder of the basics and importance of doing things slow and correct. Also I had a bit of a chuckle at your morning routine's description. I'm not a morning person either, but I do love my bubbly companions while trying to caffeinate my system. 😂
I'm so happy for you, he is great! he reminds me a lot of my young horse who is also Bueno bred, I'm looking forward to seeing more videos about Peso, I'm sure I will learn a lot. thank you
Dwayne, I need to come up and bring that horse back to Texas. Great looking horse and great job. Wish every horse owner started out every ride with just a 2 min sit.

There is nothing I would rather do than ground work. Sometimes, I would rather do ground work than ride. I truly believe through years of doing this, nothing develops a better relationship than being eye to eye.
