Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah (Live) | Live in Chicago | Front Row Music
• Jeff Buckley - Hallelu...
Imagine being one of the few people who got to see him perform this live. What an honor. And the silence from the audience. They knew
@@user-li5ws6ul6t he died 26 years ago my friend
I very often imagine that time travel is real, I'm here in the audience, then I dart over to Sin-é for many, many days and nights, just Jeff, a guitar and me in the corner silently weeping with joy.
yes
Yes….. what a voice……. Best ever version
Yep it was, saw him perform in Edinburgh, twas glorious.
This song is so oversung by so many artists. Jeff Buckley's version will always be the benchmark. The vulnerability, sincerity, loss, sorrow, yearning and on and on. This man's interpretation of this song is sublime and profound. A real marvel. One man, one guitar, one song. A masterpiece.
Spot on.
One man, one guitar, one song, one jar. A masterpiece.
@@lc9462 Agree. you nailed why this one is the best.
You should hear Myles Kennedy sing this song. Breathtaking and simple, but awesome.
@@RyanPST88 Underrated comment of the century here. Haha
Jeff Buckley is immortal
Yes, he is.
His death really messes with me sometimes. I get so upset that someone so talented was taken so soon. What an amazing human being.
I agree. I feel so deeply for this person I never met, but for whatever reason, I miss him so much. There’s a constant tear in my soul reserved for him.
Someone who.played with him said he just burned brighter than others
I feel that way about Layne Staley…especially since I wasn’t alive yet/was too young to have a chance to see him live.
He is the tear that hangs inside my soul forever.
Aches in my heart, feeling his pain somehow. May Bro Jeff be resting in heaven with the angels
And I.
Very well spoken Beautiful version Beautiful performer ❤J.B
It's never over
CZcams Please don't remove this masterpiece.. thank you very much
Where did the first version go?
@@maggeskaviar I think it was removed from @jeffbuckleymusic channel.. and basically most of live at Chicago
@@maggeskaviarsomeone took it down thank goodness 😅 it’s back❣️🙏
Download it and then you'll always have it. CZcams won't always be around
With all this and you said he's death ⚰ is natural 😢
I met Jeff when he was in Adelaide at The Exeter Hotel in the city after his concert that I went to with my daughter Jazzy.
'Hey Mum, how would you like to meet Jeff B? don't freak out but hes standing right next to you'
He was a softly spoken freckle faced Angel, we shook hands, ( I still remember how lovely they felt) we chatted and shared my Bourbon and Coke.
I stole the glass that touched his lips. His Lyrics are divine and the voice
You legend…absolute legend…that glass has some soul in it…
Jealous
Cool!!!
PLEASE tell me you still have the glass????
Imagine having the power to silence an entire room like he does in this performance. Jeff's interpretation of the song has always been my favourite, but the extra final verse on this version always feels extra poignant and heartbreaking given how soon we'd lose him. A true musical marvel gone far too soon ❤
That's one of the most noticeable things about his performances that I've seen. I've never witnessed such silenced crowds before, even at all the orchestras and classical performances I've been to. It's almost like everybody was ready to pummel the first person to make a peep 😅. RIP
So sad that this bloodline has ended… They gave us some HEAVENLY music…
Tim was a prophet
6:29 lyrics
It's not the bottle, it's not her face,
It's not the needle, or the vial,
It's not the powder on the evening,
We're strangers, and there are many
Thinking back to the time when you were together
So honest, so perfect, and adored
No more, no more
Hallelujah baby, until you are nothing
Hallelujah baby, until she is everywhere
Hallelujah to together
You are somewhere
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
My favorite part…and it’s his.
It’s amazing
I never knew he fingerpicked. That is one of the hardest techniques to learn to do to play without a pick. It makes the music layered. Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac plays that way as well.
You can hear his break at the end. What a genius. How someone takes Leonard Cohen and makes it BETTER is a mystery still to be solved. RIP Jeff
Leonard Cohen said he would never have to sing this song again now that Jeff had sung it.
@@ladybooksmith3347I had the honour of seeing the original hand written drafts of cohens song. I thought of Jeff.
This is music when your soul is poured into every note. It will never be paralleled.
I think the drugs helped
One of the most ethereal performances I've ever seen and heard...
I'm not sure if the world will ever know how extraordinary this artist, like his father, is. It was my good fortune to be in NYC in the 90's and experience Jeff live.
Beautiful! And the best part was that people let him sing the entire song, not like nowadays where people go to a concert to "sing" and not to enjoy the performances.
It sounds so soft and yet intense and heartbreaking
This needs to be in the Library of Congress and saved for future generations
This is by far the best version of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah. There was a similar old upload of his Chicago performance but it was deleted last year eventhough it had views in millions. Today, I randomly searched for Jeff’s Chicago perform and voila, it was re-uploaded. Thankyou for uploading this masterpiece!
You’d always be remembered Jeff 💗
His soul is in every note....absolute masterpiece of music.❤...love Jeff Buckley
Just what a special performance. I was silent along with the audience for the whole thing. RIP Jeff...what a talented, special young man taken too soon.
I remember they removed this video awhile back, I’m glad it’s back up again. The performance is a masterpiece 🤎
This version ❤ I cant without crying.
This was better than the studio version. So many emotions
He has the gift to smack you so hard with words made you feel the song. I cry too I am not a crier.
Died way too young. We miss you Jeff
0:38 The touch of God
🙏
Hallelujah
Even better than his father. Rip Jeff. 💔
For my Princess, Anne Luther 7/15/80-7/27/19 I'm so sorry that I couldn't save you. The kitties are doing great! I miss you. I love you. I can't wait to see you again. R.I.P. My Love, My Soulmate, My Best Friend.
I know she loved you very much
I’m so sorry for your loss
Hallelujah this video has returned to CZcams 🙏 made my week thank you Front Row Music. Was sad when it disappeared!
Haha no problem! We appreciate you :)
how did he get to be so pure & beautiful.... 🥲
He lived this song throughout the entire performance. He was obviously on something but he still emerged from the abyss
More than a decade after first hearing this, I've yet to hear a more heartbreakingly beautiful live performance of any song. The bit at the end makes such perfect sense for the song as a whole. Thanks for re-uploading.
This is a masterpiece of ART. Rare in a world driven by Higher, Bigger, Faster & Better today.
The audience was aware of what they were admiring. No mobile was necessary to capture this special moment - only their hearts ❤ ❤
Best version to me... by far.
Thank you for bringing it back ❤
this is a true gem. absolute materpiece
Life falling apart.
This song + joint = calm
The audience is standing in stunned awe and silence! My favorite version! Just murders it
I hate that he left California but I love what he created throughout his life. When I found out he was born in Anaheim I thought wow a true Californian icon but then read that he left CA and never had a strong connection to the state. Either way Jeff Buckley you are a legend forever.
The song is from within. So privileged to experience.
Thank god this is back up.
Absolutely gorgeous.
Jeff is just over the top.. We really miss him...
I don’t comment on CZcams very often. I do it when it feels right to do so. I felt so many emotions while listening and watching this video. His ability to transmit his to the audience, the listeners, is absolutely outstanding. I don’t know if he was a genius, but he was surely close to.
Left too soon. Missing you and hopefully some day in my dreams, or after death, I could watch you in concert ❤
so glad this is back on CZcams
This wasn’t online a year ago. Thank you for uploading
This song was meant for his immense talent. RIP
@Front Row Music You brought back one of the best live perfomances in human history. Just for that you're worth your weight in gold. I've been checking every now and then for years if somebody uploaded this masterpiece back on yt where it belongs (!). I guess patience IS a virtue. Hallelujah!
PS I'll take the tiny audio flaws for granted 🙏🏼
JEFF WILL ALWAYS BE SADLY MISSED........💔💔💔💔🤍🙏🏻
First time hearing this version. Totally will shake your soul
are you kidding me. Wow, lost for words.
In my top 3 songs and have resisted for nearly 2 decades to listen to a live version but now that I have I can’t describe how it’s done me…tears streaming down my face…unbelievable
HE HAD SUCH AN ANGELIC VOICE...........😢
I love this song Jeff Buckley was the best at his interpretation
This universal traveller overreached himself ,sounds that feed the soul and lighten the heart are mortals for a fraction of time our consciousness can only exist with flickers of universal energy, sorry if that's a bit deep but that's where we grow from deep dark rooted energy that feeds our cosmos
I was just saying this…. After the heavens heard this man they knew he was due back home. They prefer obscurity, cant just be going around showing everyone heaven and expect to stick around🫂 I SEE YOU
@@aaronrepasch4059 I see you back
Simply Beautiful! I love this song by him! 🖤
So gently soul shattering… I hope him and Amy whinehouse send a little angel baby with a mixture of their talents! Dunno, just feels right
Damn just damn
Happy Thanksgiving, friends across the ocean.
May your lives be filled with Hallelujah.

*lyrics*
Well, I heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
Well it goes like this:
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah...
Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya
She tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah...
Well, baby, I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor (you know)
I used to live alone before I knew ya
And I've seen your flag on the marble arch
And love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah...
Well, there was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show that to me, do ya?
But remember when I moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah...
Maybe there's a God above
But all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya
And it's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah...
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah...
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah
His spirit to free for this world... He gave his life to save a friend.. he's in a way better place and he deserves it.
what are you talking about

I don't remember the old posting of this having such a damn quiet guitar.
If I could be anyone else for a moment it would be Jeff Buckley for these 3 1/2 minutes.
The Leonard Cohen (the man who wrote this song) Documentary about this song and his life is great.
My hero !...and Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, "The Day the music died"
Kad umjetnik još doda svoj osjećaj i riječi ispadne ovakvo remek dijelo A gdje si ti Jeff?
💔🍀
if y’all like jeff’s voice go check out juan karlos’ ere live performance and let me know if he’s got his influence from jeff
This song is among my favorites. Many performers do it very well, Mr. Buckley among them. But n my opinion, nobody does is better than Lucy Thomas. Check it out.
I just checked out Lucy's version. Simply amazing, not too overdramatic while also nailing it.
If i had to choose between Buckley and Lucy, in my humble opinion i'd still side with Buckley becoz there is something about his rendition which is simply soul touching.
I read a comment in another vid which fits best to describe Buckley's version, Hauntingly Beautiful.
I think Leonard Cohen wrote a song for Jeff Buckley, thank to him ❤
What is the music at the end called? Does anyone know? From 8:22 till end.
Probably just improvised
Il have what he's having
in 5:50 we met god.
RIP JEFF😅
could literally hear a pin drop at 5:30

Great version…but check out the original Leonard Cohen.

Thank Leonard Cohen for this song 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Why removed is emotional.llth song that your hown is cool oo😢😮😅 noo
Why did they kill him? Whose sacrifice was he?
Thom Yorke
He went swimming in a river which wasn't meant for swimming in. He'd been acting strange throughout the day, put Led Zepplein on his stereo and jumped in.
@@TheGalwayFarmer The music industry is all about making money it's mafia like and ritualistic. think Jeff was "worth more dead than alive"
Grace supposedly costed over 1 million to make. His album sold okay after lots of touring. He was getting popular in France and Australia.
Also during the Grace recording sessions.
Sony really liked the song Forget Her and said it could be a hit. But Jeff declined.
The Company Boss Don lenner had dinner with Jeff to change his mind but
Jeff couldn’t be swayed.
When Jeff was starting to work on his 2nd album He wanted to work with Tom Verlaine as the producer Sony did not like this idea and it didn't end well. Jeff and Verlaine parted ways and weren't right for each other. So the sessions were a waste of money.
Jeff wanted to burn those Verlaine session tapes and dance around them.
According to Parker Kindred Jeff's new drummer in 96-97. Jeff would come out of meetings with record label feeling distraught and looking pissed because they were telling him to make "more hits"
By the 1997 Jeff's Mind was already pretty shattered. He found out he had Bi Polar. His manic and erratic episodes were getting worse. He was probably on lots of medications. Just that evening when he died all sound so weird.
Jeff was with Keith foti a roadie and supposed friend. But according to Parker Jeff didn't know Keith that well.
When the band went by the water Parker said he was really upset at Keith saying "who tf are you! And where's our friend?!"
We don't know what happened to Jeff for sure. If you watch the last goodbye videos there's like water / drowning imagery. Also a thunder and lighting can seen. The night he died there was thunder and rain.
He drowned..walked into the Mississipi river
