- I just purchased a used Elad FDM DUO Multi use SDR Transceiver. I would like to share some of what this small power house can do in a series of videos, so join in as I learn how this radio works
Elad USA, shop.elad-usa....
!#elad, #elad fdm-duo, #sdr,
ELAD is a cool SDR. I had one I was selling for a silent key and had to do a test on it to make sure it worked before we sold it for his YL. The multiple slices when you run on a computer is really cool. He had it set up with a Yaesu Speaker and an Italian 350 Watt power amp. Really cool setup. If you use it in the shack make sure you get a good amplified speaker system. I look forward to seeing your other videos on this cool little radio. 73
Jeff, I am the 3rd owner and somethings not right with the radio speaker still tying to figure it out. Thanks for the comment.
Wooow...that Elad QRP SDR Radio looks fantastic. And I am sure you are going to love operating it portable as well as a Base Station inside your Shack. I never had one, my only QRP Transceiver was the IC-703PLUS. Congrats on your Purchase & happy humpday 💯👍🙋♂
Hey Chuck, nice quick review of the ELAD FDM-DUO. I've had one now for over 4yrs now and would only change it out for an SunSDR or ANAN. When the IC-7300 first came out I looked at what outputs it had in relation to spectrum and waterfall display, but it needed to have another SDR unit which I felt was an oversight on ICOM. My main thing I really wanted was the ability to have everything available through software especially the spectrum display. As the IC-7300 didn’t have that and the price of any other radio that could was a little out of my price range, so the FDM-DUO was purchased, I have partnered this up with a Toyko Hy-power HL-45B amp which covers HF & 6m to 45-50w which does the job very well.
If you weren’t aware David Kennett W8KFJ (SK) had done some videos a while ago which might be of interest czcams.com/video/hoBv5ZYwsZA/video.html - Pt 1, czcams.com/video/nHAb8L_an9Q/video.html - Pt 2 & czcams.com/video/BjTIoJTH0Qg/video.html - Pt 3. Cheers, Adam VK2YK
Hi Adam, Yes I have watched David's video a few times eachand they are great! David is a silent key not but I did have a few mesages back in forth a few times when I first found out of this radio. I paired mine with a RM Italy amp that givea about 150 watts ssb. Thank you for the commment!
I guess my 991A and 897 will be going up for sale! Just put my order in for a full all red setup with amp and speaker! Thanks for making me spend my money! 🙂
Awesome CC, you will like it!
That’s really cool! Never heard of this radio/company before
Hey Chuck! Thanks for introducing me to this radio. I have heard about it, but it was a mystery. Your video fleshes it out. Some features remind me of my Flex. 73 de K0WHW @Bill-HRT
Yea it does pretty good , still trying to learn what it can do . Thanks for watching Bill!
Thanks Chuck, Really cool radio. I've not seen one before.
Yea not a lot of people know about this radio, Thanks for watching!
Thanks Chuck, thats a great looking radio for sure.
Makes a great SDR receiver for your main radio… I use mine with my TS 890 for receive duties…
Looking forward to more on this radio as it is on my short list.
Cheers

Radio fantastica!
Very nice Chuck. Looks like a great piece of kit.
Nice job Chuck, looks like a fantastic radio 👍
soon and for 2k you can get the duo station. 120 watt with atu and duo and speaker. since you already have this you can pick up a duo-art 120w hf+6m and atu for 1250
ELAD looks cool. I would like to see more about the receiver uses and options. It looks like it gives you amazingly versatile RX flexibility. If I can hear them better, I can work them more.
Cool rig. I should probably upgrade my license first.
Seems like a cool, unassuming, feature- packed sdr radio. I'll admit, hearing the price for the stand alone unit prior to knowing the slice capabilities was jaw- dropping. LOL
Yea but cheaper than a IC-705 , thanks for commenting!
@@KK6USYHamRadioAdventures isn't everything in that category? Lol. I'm a mountaintopper, QCX+ mini, or Yaesu (generally speaking), all of which are cheaper lol. I mean you can get a dx10 for 705 money!
@@the_mad_swimbaiter455 I totaly agree.
super video, thanks 😀
Nice one sir cheers from uk
thank you
The BEST QRP radio is, anyone that you already OWN! Just turn the power down. I use a FT-450, for remote operating. If you are backpacking, then go with one of the smaller QRP rigs.
Nice video. Are you going to get into what the Elad can do in software in regard to transmit audio? I had one in the past and it was cool, but I never got to do some of the special transmit audio features. 73 de WA3RSL
Life's too short for QRP! 😲
Well, it it floats yer boat...
Yea I get it but like I said in te video with a nice amp it's a great radio and has the power to get out. I run with a small amp and get 150 watts out so no problem making contacts.
@@KK6USYHamRadioAdventures I get it. What I see is more boxes to connect together, when you can get it smaller in a KX2. KX2 is spendier, but not much.
I wonder if the Elad Duo can do satellite operation thru a transponder type satellite.
Not sure about that it might . I haven't done any satelite work.
Would it need a bandpass filter if it was being used for field day, working 20m and someone else was on 40m @ 100W?
How much maximal filter BW for TX and RX ?? Thanks..
The main advantage of this radio is it's filters, very selective, unlike the Icom 705 or 735.
Where did you buy yours? I've been checking the Elad website for > a year and they never have anything in stock, nor do they answer my email inquiries about it.
Does this software work with any SDR USB stick?
