I can't even begin to describe how truly phenomenal you are!! I've been wanting to post a comment since I started following you in March. You have helped me tremendously with teaching online. You have the most wonderful rapport with your audience, your videos are incredibly well made AND helpful. You have a real gift obviously as a teacher, and then, relaying that to those of us in education through your videos. I'm very grateful for what you have done to help us, educators. Thank you so much for EVERYTHING!!
Words taken right out of my brain lol Thank you so much! I have learned so much from you!!!
When grading/end of marking period anxiety wakes you up and you find this gem in your notifications! 🙌🏾🙏🏾 Thank you for sharing your talents! Happy Holidays to you and the Mister!
Im a college student studying to be a math teacher and wow! I am so amazed! Definitely going to use these tips when I become a teacher!
This teacher is a rock star and has helped me so much this year with my virtual academy! It's tough being so isolated and she really helps! Thank you!!
I am now using Google Classroom for remote learning and needed some tips & tricks on grading! Thank you so much for this tutorial, Mrs. Michelle Emerson! Super helpful! 👍🏾🤯
Thank you thank you thank you! You are so incredibly busy yet you continue to put out such useful information for us. I appreciate you SO much!!
Teachers are going to be ZOOMING through grades and not feel so overwhelmed! Awesome! 💨🏃♀️
Good morning everyone!!!! Waiting for her videos, like every Sunday!!!!
Thank you so much! You took me to places in GC I have completely ignored for months. I look forward to trying out the grading tips.
I love using the To Review section. It keeps me organized. I also really like the chrome extension mote, because it allows me to leave voice comments. That helps my students that are not able to read as well, still get feedback.
Thank you for EVERYTHING! You have taught me SO much since March 2020, and I truly appreciate all of the hard work and effort you put into education. Keep doing what you are doing because you are an incredible educator!
I made a "Missing Assignments" Slide Show for my kids and each day I add the new assignments with the date, title, and all of my students' names. On Wednesdays I update them and we do Ketchup and Pickles on Friday.
Any chance you'd be willing to share a copy so I can see what this looks like? I'm intrigued (cmontoya@myluesd.net).
For me: the review and rubric will be "game changers"; thank you so much.
Perfect timing and perfect explanation!! Thanks so much!!
Good morning Michelle ❤️ When I first started watching your channel, I was an unfulfilled architect. Now, I am going to graduate and become a teacher in a few months. I’ve never been this happy in my life. Thank you for being such an inspiration ❤️
Great ideas as always- smoother grading is what we all need . 💕 Thank you
Ur smile is sunshine, when u teach, I can't focus on the the subject
Thank you so much for another great How To video! I have also been following you since last spring and have found a lot of valuable tips. The Rubric explanation was especially helpful. I hadn't wanted to tackle that part of Google Classroom because I thought it would involve too many lost brain cells, but you made it truly accessible! Thank you.
Thank you so much! I can’t wait to try these tips.
Your videos are so amazing and helpful! Thank you for giving great tips and motivation to teachers during this difficult time of distance learning!
omg thank you so much!!!!! I did online teaching years ago in homeschooling but things have changed so much. I am retired and a supply teacher now and just got a six week assignment. Having never used google classroom or google meets the last two weeks have been long and tiring...... thank goodness my grade fours are very helpful and they even present their screens to show me what they see on their end. Today is Ketchup day for me! So learning about the rubric creating and the review button will definitely help. I wish I had seen your google form video the other day. I did manage to create my own and actually had my students upload their work, which their regular teacher thought they might not be able to do. Thanks again
SO helpful!! You are amazing!! I've watched SO many of your videos and I think you are such a role model! Thank you for sharing a myriad of helpful and informative hints!
Lovely. Thanks for sharing. I have been using some of these features already but you have brought new knowledge. I have never used the rubric in the manner you demonstrated and it is so much easier the way you have shown.
Another tip If you have an iPad + Apple Pencil: when you have the final version of students’ assignments, you can edit as a pdf and use the Apple Pencil to write on the pdf and the save it and your students will see your corrections. I love using this method for writings
Another thing I do when grading google slides - I use a png of a red X with a transparent background to mark incorrect answers. (I just keep it copied so I can just quickly paste it.) Then, it is easy to scan the slides in the side panel and count up the red X's to get the grade.
(I teach 8th grade science.)
Thank you for this it is much needed to help me with remote teaching!
Hi Michelle! This was a game changer for me!! Thank you so much!! Could you do a video on what kinds of comments you use for various assignments? That would be so helpful!!
I learned several things that will make things smoother when grading. Thanks.
I never noticed in the review area that you can select by class. LIFE CHANGING. Wow! Now I can literally grade one class at a time and not have to flip back and forth. :D
Love all these suggestions and especially the ketchup and pickles. So cute!
Google Forms with automatic grading and the option to import grades! AMAZING!!! I use Google forms for tests and activities all the time now!!
Thank you soooo much for the grading tips!
Thanks for these tips - especially the rubric tips - I have been using a separate rubric doc and HATE the juggling needed.
Thanks for sharing these tips for grading faster on Google Classroom. Michelle, your videos are so good! Much appreciated!!!
Heather
Thanks, amazing video i have learned so much more. Love Ketchup & Pickles. I also truly love creating the rubric and returning all assignments at once that was a game changer!
Thank you for these tips. This helped me in making my work easier. Thank you.
You have made my grading so much easier. I dreaded grading all the digital assessments because it takes me forever, like days. The comment bank is AMAZING. Thank you.
I use the Grades section to see who has missing work. It shows me the whole class and their work. It also provides a class average for each assignment.
This was very helpful. Thank you!
I love your channel it’s so clear and easy to understand
Very helpful! Thank you!
Thank you! As a co-curricular teacher, I assess and keep records for two elementary schools. In this time of Covid/Hybrid learning, any tips and tricks to shave off time are extremely helpful. (I have 600 kiddos, if something takes me a half minute longer for each, that's 5 hours!) I really appreciate your sharing your knowledge and experience!
Mrs Emerson...you are such a blessing and inspiration to us teachers. Thanks for all the tips and lessons you have shared. Thanks for motivating me personally as you have broadened my horizon when it comes to virtual teaching. Thanks again...Every blessing to you and Mr Emerson and have a wonderful christmas. Grace from Kingston Jamaica
You are amazing and Your videos are cathartic!
I love your ketchup and pickles. I am going to try this with my second graders. Thanks for all the information on putting comments as well. I was stressing when returning slides in which I have to put comments.on a regular basis. You are a life saver.
You are so awesome! Thank you! I love your assignments too! Looks so hard to do for someone like me who is not very techy.
Great video! I got so much out of it it. Thank you!

Syncing Google Classroom and to our SIS system will be a valuable time saver! Thank yous go to our district #171 technology supervisor and to you, Michelle Emerson!
Thank you for this video! Started using Google Classroom this week to help with all the virtual assignments. I am a first year teacher, so I feel like I am always doing something wrong and have been struggling with grading google slide assignments. This was so helpful!
Thank you SOO much for this!! I'm a student teacher in a high school, and these are helping me a ton!
I saw you had a Google Classroom titled Early Finishers, will you explain how you use that? Thank you!
Thank you SO much!
LOVED this!
You are super amazing! Thank you.
I like how you add an additional comment for Billy on the assignment, but are specific with each slide comment ... & the rubrics are also very helpful for understanding ...
Reusing Rubrics 👍🏼💕💕
Bitmojis are so cool 😎 💖 💖💖
Hello from Spain.
If you want to grade in a new tab, you justhave to press Command+clic (Mac) Ctrl+clic (Windows) when you are on the number os delivered/non-graded tasks.
You always rock! I nominate you for teacher of the year for the country!😍
Agree!!!
Returning MULTIPLE will save a TON of time, thank you!!!
Great info. Time savers indeed!
Sending you academic LOVE from Brazil! Muito obrigado - Muchas Gracias - Thank you Very Much for sharing such knowledge with us.
Very helpful information, thank you very much.
Thanks for this! I really liked Tip #2 and the comments you chose to use with students, especially where you let them know whether the assignment is done or if they should go back to make changes. Here were the comments Michelle Ferré uses with her classes. I plan to borrow and modify slightly for my students.
1. "Great job on this assignment! Thank you for working so hard! This assignment is now complete."
2. "Thank you for working so hard! If you want to improve your grade, you can make changes and resubmit."
3. "I need you to go back and check your work before I can grade this assignment. Resubmit when you are done so I can grade your work!"
Thanks again for all these time saving tips!
Hello :) Love your videos! They are such great help! Nice and clear :)
I really needed this today!!! 🥴
I have taught public school for 30+ years. Constantly upgrading and changing to make things relevant for class and students was so challenging. If I were teaching today , I would have to PAY you for your wonderful ,detailed and just magnificent classroom tips for teachers. You are just amazing as a young teacher. To all other new and veteran teachers, try to emulate or do some of these ideas. If you can't do it all ( as everyone is different) do what you can to enhance the learning of the students. I can't imagine any student getting bored in such an elightening class with a pocket full of new ideas and consistent learning segments. I am learning from you every time I enter your you tube. It helps me enhance my real estate teaching. It's not just elementary. Thanks a bunch. Trust me when I say, you are such a help to all educators. Please keep doing what you are doing and you do it with such a vibrant attitude and lovely smile. You love your work.
This is awesome!!! The ketchup and pickles way of tracking missing work by students is really really amazing.Thank you so much for sharing these important tips!!
This is soooo helpful
Thank you
Thank you so much.
Great Video!
Thank you!
Thank you so much; I learned a lot; you are awesome! Love your videos. Keep up the good work.
Awesome tips!!!!
me not even being a teacher but still paying full attention
Oh and I meant to say fantastic video, I didn't even know about the "To Review" section! Also love the timesaver of returning multiple assignments at once!
Very good video. Thanks
Awesome!! You're a game changer!!
thx, new information, very useful
Brilliant information
Great video as always ❤
I also like to use "View Your Work" in the Student's Classwork section. It shows the assignments, the missing work, and returned graded work. I can have parent/student/teacher conferences with families to show my students' progress. On our Wednesday's (which is our intervention day) I can do a check for missing work with my students. I let them present their screen to me, then select missing work, have them click on the missing assignment and pull up a tab for each missing assignment. That way when they work asynchronously their tabs are up and they can work to finish their assignments. Presenting their work is done in my other class, one at a time. I'm able to monitor the class while I have my assignment checks individually. I can answer questions of my students who are having difficulty with completing assignments. Whew! Your awesome Mrs. Emerson! I look forward to your videos and refer them to my coworkers on the regular! You know your stuff and I so appreciate your expertise! Thank you and keep striving!
Awesome video! Great tips! I was happy to see that I already do several of these things. I really need to start using the rubrics. I didn't know about the drop down to return multiple students' work. I'll definitely be using that one. I like the idea of "ketchup & pickles". I remember doing something similar before we went virtual. I really like your setup of this. Do you have some kind of fun activity for the other kids to do who don't have missing work? Any suggestions for incorporating this with middle schoolers?
This is going to make my life so much easier. Thank you
Thank you
Awesome video!!!
Omg! I just noticed your last name is Emerson now! That still makes me happy 😆
So appreciate these. Google classroom is not intuitive and any tips of how to use it more effectively are welcomed!❤️👍🏽
I should saw this video one month ago!!!! :) I love it
I know you've heard this before, but you are amazing and these videos are so helpful. Thank you! 🌟
Your videos have been incredibly helpful to me. I wish they counted toward Professional Development - could that ever be a possibility? Thank you for all - huge fan here!
I love your videos ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have your intro memorized and the Mrs. Emerson tripped me up 🤣 congrats again on the wedding!
Very helpful
I prefer to use Mote when leaving audio comments. It is must faster for me as a high school teacher with 38 students per class. Also Mote will transcribe the comment and translate in other languages if that is needed.
I love the Comment Bank! Thanks!
Great info, thanks 👏 Do'nt you have one about boomcards?
I love your glasses! What brand are they and are they still available to purchase?
Very useful, thanks, particularly with the rubric information. I've also found that if you type "#" into the comments on a document (not in private comments for some reason) it brings up a drop down of all your comment bank which I find saves me time from copy/pasting.
