    I'm 72 and a 15 handicap. If I could chip, I probably would be a 10. I have worked and worked and worked on my chipping. Looked at a lot of tips. Watched many videos and nothing seems to work. But then I came across this technique I used it today (before even practicing it) and have never chipped so well. Amazing! Incredible! If you're having problems, I would give it a try. Thanks Rick!

      @@johnmcgahern3946 this is a late reply…. BUT… if you’re using the shoulders for the primary muscle to drive the putter’s stroke chip shot, your club speed shouldn’t slow down after contact compared to your backswing speed. When golfers rely on their wrists, it’s much easier to mess this up because the wrists can break open easier with bad contact with the club and ground.

    Rick, first time golfer and love the videos! I’m struggling with chipping and these videos have helped already a lot. I am curious though what to do when chipping on an uneven surface around the green like on a slope up and or down? Also, what about a 50 yard chip shot as in what club to use and how much or a back swing? Finally, for all chip shots, where should the weight be? Thanks again for all your awesome videos!!

    Rick, I have been using this putting chip technique for years, good advice! Also, I read about & use a chipping method that utilizes my 6i, 8i, & PW. For a level green, 6 iron 1/4 fly distance & then 3/4 run. For the 8 iron, 1/3 fly distance & then 2/3 run. For the PW, 1/2 fly distance & 1/2 run. If the green is sloping away from you, naturally go down a club, i.e. 7i for 6i, 9i for 8i, GW for PW. If the green is going uphill, then reverse the clubs, i.e. 5i for 6i, 7i for 8i, 9i for PW.

  • @Ivorengland
    @Ivorengland Před 3 lety

    Excellent tip. I’ve been using this for years. I think it was called a ‘chip putt’ back in the day. You can use any iron or wedge for this but by raising the handle the face of the club will point right (for right handers). So you will need to close the club face slightly before taking your grip.The more lofted the club, the more you need to close the club face in order to hit it straight. It’s really reliable, once you get the hang of it and great from tangly green side lies as the club is much less likely to get stuck in the grass.

    In the past I would automatically go for my 56 or 60 degree. Looked great when it worked. But there were occasions when I duff or thin. This "toe down" technique works great. Very easy to implement and get right every time. A real stroke saver.
