    Thanks for the awesome recipe. I use this "ham maker" bought on Amazon as a mold..essentially loosely lined with banana leaves..put in the frozen mung bean with rice inside the ham maker, using it as a mold..take it out and wrap tin foil around it..this way my Banh Tet is perfectly round and individually wrapped for boiling.

    do you need to use aluminum foil?

    • @RunAwayRice
      @RunAwayRice  Před 4 lety +1

      I use the aluminum foil in case the banana leaves tear but you can cook the cakes without the foil.

    How do you get your bananas to turn pink when it’s finished cooking? All these years, it doesn’t matter what kind of bananas I used, mine is always yellow :( I even follow the recipe verbatim but different results. Help?

    • @RunAwayRice
      @RunAwayRice  Před 6 lety +3

      Hi Mary, some bananas work better than others. It's the sugar and potassium in the bananas that make them turn pink during cooking. It helps if the bananas are ripe too as they are sweeter. I am using Thai bananas. Have you tried these?

    • @maryxiong8905

      I don’t have Thai bananas but I’m sure the store has frozen Thai bananas. I will give it a try next. Thanks so much for the response :)
