why do alphas and betas even have cash shops... thats so stupid
Game is full of bugs, has bare-bones mechanics, but you bet yer ass that the in game shop is gonna work perfectly. Gotta have those dirty-ass survivors kitted out with p2w shiny assault rifles that shoot premium ammo that does 10% more damage and hats, gotta have funny FUCKING hats!

Great Video ***** . I have played hours of this and all it is is a steaming pile of deathmatch crap pretending to be a survival game. Its total rubbish and the ONLY i repeat ONLY people defending this games are the BANDITS who need fresh meat to shoot at spawn. Dont listen to them...avoid this game like a STD. Worth a Buy has provided the most accurate review of this pile of dirt.

I got to say, I couldn't agree more with what you said about these games. There doesn't seem to be any reason to be friendly in any of them. Most footage of seen of these games is the same. At most, some people decide to band together to become bandits or something like that, but there's no reason to try to help anyone, so why even bother getting this over a straight up shooter? At least in those, I wouldn't waste 5 hours of my time running around aimlessly before just getting shot by some random guy.
That's wrong, War Z doesn't exist anymore after a trademark issue with the World War Z people. They had to change the name of the game to Infestation: Survivor Stories.
So chalk that one up as another game to avoid like the zombie plague.
It's the same game; no one cares or is fooled about the name change. But it's funny that a game is so bad that it can't even hold its name.

Because people for a big AAA movie title with millions of dollars put in and Hollywood actors which has been in production for years and based on a book also called World War Z probably has both better lawyers, more money, and a better chance at winning the rights over the name than some unskilled developers. A game being bad/good has nothing to do with its copyright/trademark.
You're right, but other games do not have this problem because they actually secure their names. A movie cannot just come along and say "Ok, we like that name, we're taking it. FU, you go change yours now." Legally, it's a matter of who has it first, not who has more money.(Although you could bribe the owner into selling it to you) WarZ probably did not secure their name before the movie took it, thus they opened themselves into being bullied into a change. You are suppose to patent/license your name, and WarZ(The game) apparently did not do that. Ya surprised?

Except we don't know which was worked on before which. A movie doesn't need to be out in theaters before the name can be copyrighted. War Z (the game) was out on Steam on December 17, 2012. World War Z (the novel) was published on September 12, 2006. I have no idea how long the movie has been worked on, nor am I 100% sure on when the game's development started. So again, we don't know which had it first, WarZ very likely didn't copyright it, but it may not have been able to copyright it either even if they had tried when they began developing the game.
WaB, you missed some points:
- Warz also promised cars and dynamics that would encourage teamplay.
- Warz also had most of the map blacked out.
- Warz isn`t called warz anymore but don`t tell them what it`s called now. I don`t want anyone buying it.
War z has cars now and a new map lol. Worth playing now.

You forgot that this game is still in development and has potential to be a whole lot different than games like DayZ or WarZ.
But why would you want it to be different from DayZ?
That mod single handedly made Arma like fucking WC3. So it has to be the second coming of Jebus and the whole army of heaven with a side of fries, right?
They don't have a list or any kind of development plan. Oh they added more items to cash shop with each update and don't fix any clipping or problems from rush build map.

Earned a sub for sure with this video. I feel like you hit a nail on the head. I played maybe an hour of the game and was killed by another player about 5 times. Not one person i met was friendly or helpful. Oh well, there was this one point where i found a really nice sub machine gun and was eager to use it. Found a player who frantically shouted friendly in voice and being the group up type of person i am, decided to not shoot him. Turned around, heard him pull out a handgun and shot me in the back. That's where i put the game down and hopped back on Day Z SA. The game might have some promise to it like you said, but as of right now. It's just an expanded world of Deathmatch. Thank you WAB.
Amen brother, I hear you, I really do. They do need to bring in a mechanic where you can only get access to certain builds when you hit a certain community or party number. I hope some dev comes in here and watches this, and listens, really listens. We might one day see that game come to life. Thank you Worth A Buy. I appreciated the video and insight of Nether, they almost got me in the summer sale on steam, and I glad I didn't buy it.
I agree with your idea about the multiplayer teamwork, however I don't think it would be dead easy to implement. The idea you had about a gang unlocking things as it gains more people is a great concept, but then I think you would run into the issue of the server turning into one giant gang that swallows up any other small gang that tries to establish itself.
Unless you make the server non-pvp and focus it entirely on survival, but then you're losing that big playerbase. It would be awesome to see a game like this, that's truly based on cooperative survival, but I think it would be tricky to implement.
Love these videos by the way. Brutally honest is the only way to do it.

The two distingushing diffrences between this game and DayZ that make it better (IMO) are the much better, smoother gameplay Nether offers, and the more creative backstory and lore the game has as well (even if it doesn't seem fleshed out yet, and even if it dosen't get fleshed out by the time of full release, its still MUCH better then just zombies)
Dayz needs to have a feature in which players can revive other players without an item. That way people would want to stick together

Lol, I guess since WarZ got a lot of negative feedback and bash from reviewers they basically remade the game with another name and map so people would buy it.
I play this game and I really enjoy the atmosphere and even though there are still a lot of problems mentioned now that it is in beta they have added a lot more and are continuing to do so. Right now they currently have a subway system and a meter that aggros Nether further away the more players you kill. There is also a group system being added in the future! It sure is a shame it is the way it is but by the way it is ever growing and changing this game is going to be the shit by release.
All your bad-side points can be blamed to one thing: it's early access. millions of patches and improvements coming :) I'd say it's DEFINATELLY worth a buy and i love it :). (I do get your points though.)

Have you ever heard of a game called DayZ? For every time you say oh that game Warz you could replace the word WarZ with DayZ. Sure some of it is actually the same as WarZ but I don't see you once trying to say anything about DayZ. Is that because DayZ is so popular? Is it because you like it and you do not want to in any way make similarities between them? Do not get me wrong there is so much that is wrong in this game that you missed that is even worse than what you mentioned in the video, but don't forget about DayZ as well. I just think its unfair of you to only compare the two when your missing out on a game like DayZ that does some of the exact same things...
I heard him multiple times mention dayz buddy. But even if he didn't, this video is about Nether and not dayz, so there is no need for him to even mention it once. The only reason warz is being mentioned is because it seems to have all the same mechanics as warz and because a lot of people are saying how it is like warz. Yes, warZ is a rippoff of a dayz concept, but dayz is in a whole different league than these games, and he even mentions how dayz also lacks the team building mechanic that these games need.

Yes Nether is a mess right now and the video should focus on what Nether is or has been doing wrong, but instead every other sentence is comparing it to WarZ. The loot, the scavenging, the helicopter loot, and much more is in DayZ as well. All I am saying here is that for a better review maybe focus on what is wrong with Nether and not to compare every aspect of it to another game.

Have you ever played DayZ? Nether is nothing like DayZ, the inventory is different, the graphics are different, weapons are different, the building are different, the gameplay is different. Hey, at least in DayZ you can open doors and you actually feel like you are in a town! Please explain what is so similar to DayZ other than the need to survive?

Besides the basic needs of a survival game, which EVERY survival game has else it's not a SURVIVAL game.

You hit every red flag Mack, great review. These games are just milking the "survival genre" when all it basically is just a free for all death match with some customization,a couple of hostile enemies, the all essential cash shop, and the totally not recycled environment. Sure I understand bandits being a thing but there is no incentive to work together like you said. It would definitely create a different feel to the game having a little settlement of survivors repelling enemies, both creature and other bandits while having to coordinate scavenge runs, guard duty, ect. Let's see if nether can truly live up to its "unlike any other" claim

Hey Mack. I just wanted to thank you for your reviews. They are actually decent and you make them very entertaining so thanks for that :D. You raised some really good points about the COOP situation in these games and yea the game is quite lame at the moment. I bought and I was disappointed with the lack of loot and just the general similarity between it and other survival games. I hope they can introduce some coop features into DayZ standalone, they really need to revitalize the zombie-genre.
Well...they seem to want to add in additional PvE elements that encourage cooperation, but I do agree that these type of games don't give much of a reason to cooperate. And every reason to, instead, kill one another.

Hey WAB, just wanted to share with you that Nether just released a 'promising' new update. Haven't tried it out myself yet, but you might like the direction they seem to be taking this game into. The 'new features' seem to put more focus on grouping and survival, next to the shooter stuff. Really hoping this update is just a start into that direction :P

Mack you are right about the not working together bit. It's because of the anonymity in the online games. People forget Wheaton's law. And it doesn't help that lots of games give the most points for kills so you always get the MINE MINE MINE MINE effect. And often get more damage from team mates then the enemy. :)

Fair warning, this game is pretty much abandoned now. At least by the original developers. So far the new developers, Pure FPS (the people also developing the new Alone in the Dark game), have done nothing with Nether and don't show any signs of doing so.
It seems that the original developers just didn't have the experience to take on a project as big as Nether could have been, or it was just a cash grab from the beginning. No new content has been added in over half a year, and the content that is in the game is still broken and completely buggy. The store page doesn't even consider it Early Access anymore.
you're not right about counter strike, in many maps it has door, that open, many of them even break if you shoot through them. :D

The devs have also banished the very mention of "WarZ/Infestation: Survivor Stories" on Steam discussions. Even mentioning it will get you banned from them. They deny everything, watching the Nether fan-boys in denial themselves, and argue that it's a different company and nothing like WarZ is both pathetic and hilarious.

The environment is a lot more realistic then dayz, dayz is too tidy and it doesn't look like there has been a zombie apocalypse whereas in nether it looks like there has been more destruction and chaos. You moaned about that guy killing u but u would probably have killed him if u saw him first, also u focus on realism but games aren't suppose to be realistic they are suppose to be fun. i liked the atmosphere in this game... Ive always seen it as a nightmare, where things dont make a lot of sense (buildings, monsters etc.). Since the game is so rubbish in itself and has literally no community nor playerbase.
But the world, dunno, is something unique, even it wasnt the intention of the devs to create a dreamworld like that lol
but even if it is like "WarZ" or "DayZ" it doesent mean that you can't have fun playing the game!
