I hope this becomes the new trend in you tube. Not super cautious, no gambling, no popping bottles, no doing pranks, but actually living life with all the nuance of what's between the good and the bad. I really enjoy this channel and hope he succeeds.
This is certainly a movement that’s happening and I am sure that more channels will follow suit. The entire energy on this platform has changed
Agreed
Exactly!
@@vincentdanopoulos It's turned into the only platform I watch since the pandemic, I love this kinda public access kinda vibe. Sometimes it reminds me of Bob Villa and I can't get enough lol.
He’s already succeeded.
Holy fuck. Nothing on CZcams has grabbed my attention like this in years. Everyone else is going for excitement, and here comes Van Neistat, glueing me to the screen with apprehension and regret. Fantastic storytelling.
I was struggling with what to make of this one. But you nailed it, apprehension and regret. Yep, right in the feels.
@@simoncrabb i was trying to roll out the door but had to watch this magic creator
I often come here to learn about storytelling. Check. I also come here to learn about life, from someone whose had an interesting one. Check. And this time what really grabs me is a human being who tries their best (I assume) day in day out and still, things are imperfect. Nobody does everything right. Everybody's trying to figure it out.
This is real art, man. It's human. It's personal. It's relatable. It reminded me to call a friend I haven't seen in too long and also just to keep going. Thank you.
This is the essence of what makes the videos on this channel that Van creates fantastic. His story telling is nothing like I've ever seen before. It's off the charts!. Well done 😄👍🎥📷📖
Once in a while, there's a special video on this channel. Something that feels greater than the sum of its parts, maybe? This was definitely one of them.
The way the polaroid ties in to the beginning and the end. Reflecting on movies and storytelling and, in a way, vlogging. Do you record everything? How do you find a story in the mundane? Where is the story in everyday life anyway? How does Casey do it?
On the Casey point- it's so clear how the internal life of the Neistat brothers comes out in their video style. Van's is more reflective, wandering, like a Monet painting, while Casey's are more snap crackle action.
I don't know why, but it's so often on this channel that I'm left with a sense of, maybe, nostalgia(?) after finishing a video. Like I need to sit down and digest what I saw. Like there's a deeper meaning but I'm not sure if it's intentional or not.
In the end, stories are not about things or places or events- they're about people. How we react to them. How they change us. I guess I see that clearer than ever, after this video. This isn't a video about a polaroid timer or a family trip. It's a video about Van's internal life. Another youtuber might have ended on a montage of facetime calls reconnecting with friends. But instead we're left with an automated polaroid click, likely a photo of van with his camera looking down at the shutter, self reflective, but one we'll never see.
Goddamn; 100% agree. Thanks for perfectly describing it.
This is the Van I need. Thank you for your service to my soul. You make me reflect. I like that.
there is a mysterious quality in these videos, some kind of __?___ something, something almost mythological, the way they slide through time with the words of van... something only a very few filmmakers ever produce. that sort of endlessly inspiring thing.
...
it became apparent once again, as the end-credits rolled...
the more you let that magic fill these videos, these little miracles of yours, the more they will release the very beautiful soul of yours for this world and us fellow travellers.
thanks van.
thanks for helping me make it through last year.
very Terrance malicky which I love!
After years of living stories that have big struggles and surprising (sometimes tragic) endings, I embrace “boring” and predictable stories. Sometimes boring and predictable is nice.
The hero’s journey reminded of your Sachs video. I need to watch that again, “she believes that she can, she knows that she must” haunts me often
Awesome storytelling
we need neistat brothers! new season!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I grew up in Mystic. Made me crying seeing you there, lots of time spent with my family who I don’t see much of anymore.
We stopped seeing some friends for various reasons.
We find a lot of things on the internet... We learn that some of them have died of cancer, or suicide...
This is such an excellent bait. And today I am missing a certain someone so much. I can imagine who you are missing, Van.
Thank you for this piece
The idea of a storyteller creating the story just so he (the storyteller) learns something from it, is beautiful. I never thought about it like that but it is absolutely one of the reasons we do what we do.
Love this. I love seeing you and Casey spending time together with your kids as well. Van has a way of making the everyday feel special and nostalgic.
I appreciate your story-telling so much. This one moved me. Thank you Van! Great to see the Neistat brothers and the kids together :)
This video was phenomenal, one of your best
This fulfilled man is happy that the spirited man and his artistic brother are reunited even for a trip and it's amazing to see the kids spending some family time. I appreciate how how family bonding is vital to these brothers because if there is anything that we should take away from these two it's the importance of family. P.s. This would also probably be a closest video we had so far of a Neistat brothers reunion from Van's perspective and this was awesome!
Another perfect post. Van's spirit gives us all spirit to move forward with our artistic endeavours.
Another banger, yet again. Was just missing Van today too.
I’ve been shamelessly binging this channel for two days. Currently rewatching this video as it highlights storytelling very well. Amazing, moving and inspiring content
What a treat for my Friday night

Amazing Video. Thank god we found Van.

A beautiful well told story. Thank you
Excellent usage of A Hero with a Thousand Faces framework, videos never cease to amaze me!
Dear Van! (Dear Casey for the additional footage too)!
Every time i see a movie from you guys i feel like wanna grab a drink and go on with the now two sided conversation for some endless talk about nothing but life.
A movie froum you guys is always a pleasure and a huge honor to be able to watch.
Thanks and cheers!
This is a really a beautiful video van. For whatever reason it really caught me, felt like a narrative of human experience. Made me think of in the future when people want to know what we were like, this would be a great video to gain perspective with
Van's best video yet. Pure genius.
I just loved this so much.
Van, i actually came up with an aesthetically non intrusive method to have a wireless remote for a Fuji Instax, in my case a Fuji Instax wide, installing a micro wireless relè inside the case of the camera. There was just the right amount of space in the bottom left corner under the lens between the grip. You power it connecting it to the main battery circuit, The only pitfall is interrupting the circuit by removing a battery to avoid power drainage. Works like a charm, depending on the type of the remote the open/close functions can be activated in one press or two. I have an unedited video on my hard drive where I explain how to do it but I know a guy like you can figure out the missing steps.
Wow. Absolutely beautiful ❤️ thankyou Van
This is Beautiful.
Beautiful, every part of it.
Thank you again for this one.
every van video makes me want to cry, the beauty, the realness. one million points to the spirited man

Aloha Van, thank you for this.
I'm glad you came by the Cape and the Islands with your family and I hope you enjoyed it there
This right here, this is what it’s about. Well done Van. Keep it going. This is the best thing to ever hit YT
Spectacular

It’s always nice catching a glimpse of Casey. Both of you are true artisans of the camera and story telling. Thanks for sharing.
Far out Van! Every damn time!! I love it
Amazing!
Bravo!!!
@VanNeiStat - As always excellent job. Wonderful to see Mystic, from the “other side.” Newport being my fathers favorite, Mystic comes second but through an 1800’s lens.
Your videos are exceptional
Every time I watch one of your videos, I feel like my life has changed. 🙂
More amazing storytelling.
