    Germain was basically the Palpatine of the ac series. He dressed like him, played another side temporarily fooling the side he's against.

    I really love how they give the targets interesting stories, so you really get to know who you are killing

      More or less. Roberts in AC4 was smart, but did not aimed for anything. Here, the sage was a Templar. And one devoted to the true line of thought of the Templars.

      Germain and de Molay were quite different from Standish and Roberts where Germain made no mention of Juno or the Observatory, while it is obvious from the last two that they were both obsessed with releasing Juno. Before Unity I assumed other Sages would share the same personality and motives. Maybe other sages only share different aspects of Aita's personality and memories.

    Funny that Arno saw the King of the Beggar's memories in third person perspective, considering that he was looking directly at Germain's face.

    1:25 It is seen that the Guard was trying to protect Germain at that time, but the latter killed him so that the Guard would not reveal his true identity as a Templar Master to Arno

    A shame, these memory corridor conversations are what makes AC great imo. The characters often speak like poets. (although we might not get to see the philosophical debates between the two ideologies as Arno doesn’t show much affinity for the Creed at this point in his life)

      I really gotta play through Unity again. There's so much that I completely missed. I was mad cause I thought they introduced Germain over halfway through the story, but NO!

    I wonder if Shay Cormac knew that Grand Master François de la Serre was at the palace of Versailles the same time he was. And if Shay would've sided with Arno or sided with Germain. Could've been cool seeing Arno and Shay work together to kill Germain.

      Shay teased "time for our own revolution" when he killed Arno's dad. the revolution he mentioned was French Revolution whos planned by Germain. so yeah Shay was in Germain side

      @@homanism6438 Not necessarily. Even when Arno was a child there was hatred for the French monarchy. Civilians had already started whispers of doing something about it. Shay hated having large numbers of people die so he would side with the revolution but not as extreme as Germain. I can see Shay agreeing with Grand Master de la Serre and Mirabeau on peace.

      ​​​@@homanism6438 Germain wanted to see humans returned to the state of being slaves, of course him being a reincarnation of Aita, Juno's husband. I doubt Shay would side with him, all that Shay wanted when he joined the order was that the precursor sites be left alone as they had the power to destroy cities. He joined the Templars with humanity's safety in mind, not humanity's slavery.

    Funny how history is filled with monsters like this just being pitted against each other while everyone in between suffers and dies. What peace would the world have without monsters like Germain, Rodrigo Borgia, and Starrick around to stoke the flames of conflict.

    I wasn’t sure about the assassinations in this game, very unprecedented, a bit too magical.
    But at least this and origins had conversations with the dead. Odyssey, he’s a straight up killed them.

    So ubisoft messed up the interaction to where Arno didn't even remember his face from the horse carriage when tried to deliver the message he was given.

    Sorry but this isn’t all of his scenes. He’s the man in the carriage that Arno chases down in the beginning of the game while trying to deliver a letter to Monsieur De la Serre.

      It's been a while since I made this video, but I do remember looking into that and finding out that it was not supposed to be the same character, even though the programmers basically used the same skin.

      ​​​@@maciejpolak2458 no excuses for a multi-billionaire company. RDR2, for example, is also a 150hrs+ game, yet they deliver great cutscenes that feels human and non-robotic (even though its real time which is even more great). Ubisoft is just lazy.

      A Sage is never a perfect clone of Aita, he/she just has a certain percentage of Aita's DNA. So, looks like Germain had less than Roberts.

    I'm really curious what wouldve happened if he knew about the observatory unless he did know but figured it wasnt worth it

      It's revealed that some time between 1784 - 1814, the Assassins deliberately buried the Observatory and some time later it suffered a catastrophic collapse. It was probably destroyed by the time the French Revolution happened.

      This is a different guy. Roberts died in 1722 and Germain was born in 1726. Also, because Aita's DNA was scattered throughout the human race, there can be more than one sage at a time.

      It's not an actual resurrection. It's just when someone is born with enough of Aita's DNA, they start having memories of his life.
