Basically. I personally was disappointed by the lack of engagement with the setting. I felt like the Revolution was just a backdrop for Arno and Elise's relationship.

The thing is that Arno's story was quite incompleto. When you see Dead Kings storyline, you see an Arno that is slowly starting to embrace the Creed in his own way, and yet we do not see enough. It would have been a great story.

I want his own brotherhood kind of game. In which once Napoleon has the apple, in order to not get targeted by both templars and assassins he sides with the remaining Templars and rebuilds the templar order with himself as the gran maestre templar. All of this while the assassins where set on a trap by the templars and purged with only arno remaining. He reforms the Brotherhood struggling with the Templars purging them. He realizes bellec was right and not all templars are as Elise since most want to control and remove free will from people.

She visited Jennifer Scott Kenway, daughter of Edward, Half-sister of Haytham Kenway very often.
Elise got a necklace from Jennifer which she often wore.
Jennifer got it from her brother Haytham as a gift but didn't like it much so she decided it to give it to Elise

Poor Arno, I feel bad for him when he have lost everyone he loved, his girlfriend, his father and Francois De le Serre.

This story was mad shit rushed, it had the makings of a neat story but they just handled it poorly, it was such a shame, but DAMN those visuals can look NICE, would love to see some of the older better stories with these visuals. Like Black flag? Damn getting an upgrade like this would be amazing.

It feels like Arno loved Elise so much he didn't really see she was using him for her own vandetta. He would fall into a bottomless pit of depression and loneliness because she was angry at him, tossing him aside because he wouldn't do what she wanted. In the end, her need for revenge is what got her killed. I find Elise seflish, but I do think she would've made a good assassin. Arno's weak and has no backbone, his emotions get in the way of the plan.
In every assassins they have flaws.Personally I find their weaknesses something that made their characters unique and human.
If you read her letter and read the AC Unity novel, There are some much depth added to the story.
Elise was indeed consumed by her revenge, but she didn't love and use Arno solely for that reason.
Going further will spoil the story though.
Her letters say differently.

I had so much trouble capturing this scene! I think I had to redo it 5 or 6 times because the randomly generated background characters were doing stupid things like shoving their butts at the camera and getting in Arno's way.

Each type of Animus/Helix machine translates differently. It's actually mentioned in earlier games that there are sometimes problems with translating the memory data.
You should watch the episode of Loomer’s Assassin’s Den where he interviews Dan Jeanotte (Arno). He mentions that they did focus group testing with characters using French accents and it wasn’t received positively at all. It’s a fairly common trend in all media, according to him.

Aside from Haytham and Colonel George Monro, Elise was the only Templar whom I respected. She really felt like someone who didn’t seem immersed in the Templar ideology, as she only was thrust into the role because of her father’s influence

Cormac killed charles anonymously without anybody knowing except Benjamin Franklin. And franklin might be dead. So, Arno can never detect who killed his father.
Well Benjamin Franklin died in April Of 1790 And Arno is arrested And placed in the bastille in 1789 I believe. So If the story was made Differently you could of had Arno Speak to Franklin and learn of shays involvement in His fathers death before Franklin Dies in 1790. It doesn’t really matter anyway as I don’t think Benjamin knew that Shay was In Versailles to assassinate Charles, He simply gave Shay a way into the Palace without knowing his intentions as Shay had done many favours for him During the events of Rouge and was unaware that he was now a Templar.

Don't get why people are comparing them to Romeo and Giulietta: Arno and Élise were raised together, they were supposedly 30 when she died, nothing contrasted their relationship and the main reason it got messed up is becouse Germain killed her father. It's called unity of course becouse they're corrispective fathers wanted assassins and templars to "unite" and if she lived they would have probably attempted the same...
As disappointing as the potential of the setting was with it only being a backdrop for Arno and Élise’s relationship, it makes sense since neither of them was able to change the outcome of therevolution.
Just like in Odyssey, Kassandra’s personal story might change with your choices, but nothing she does changes the outcome of the Peloponnesian war.
I feel like Elise should’ve been the main protagonist, Arno dies turning her away from the Templars and joining the Creed. I feel that would’ve been better as a story because you actually get character development.
Also as many said there should’ve been more focus on the revolution, the game was marketed as an experienced journey where you fight in the revolution. Instead we got a love story, with boring side characters.
That would have been a nice parallel to Shay leaving the Assassins for the Templars actually.
Elise has a fire Templar outfit. Really stylish.
This game is really delightful.
Killing her was a mistake not every assassin has to have a shitty ending its rare for characters to bounce off each other in a way that's not cringy in these games and these two were great everytime they were on screen

for a long fan of AC serie (until Syndicate, those after doesn't count), i can tell the love story between Arno and Elise is really the one who brings me to actual tears. i loved so much their chemistry and personality of both and could really seeing them together at the end (plus they both lost already so much). How this ending's story was written impulse this sadness. Plus, when you read her last letter at Arno's home (yes i read all her letters as soon they were a new one), you understand she knew Arno would try to save her instead of accomplish their mission at killing the big bad guy. You also understand how much they love each others while reading these letters. The VA of Elise reading you her letters impulse me too to tears, especially for the last letters when you hear distinctly her voice being cracked by tears.
Love Arno, love Elise, love this game in its entirely.

Yeah, the NPCs in this game frustrated me SO MUCH. I don't know how many times I had to reshoot an entire memory just because some rando had put their ass in the camera or wouldn't stop screaming about a dead body in the street. This was probably the best result out of several tries.

What was the point in killing her? Right at the end of the game too. There’s no aftermath, we don’t really know how it affected Arno, it left no room for character development. Only purpose it seemed to serve was to give the game a sad ending. Even Edward had his daughter in the end Arno has literally no one.
Ubisoft has incredibile talent of destroying their franchises. If they kept this duo alive and didn’t rush with every game release we could get another great trilogy. I hope someone will buy their studio to end this slaughter of good serieses.
If you think about it, the Assassins are like liberals that fight for change while the Templars are like conservatives that fight to restore order.

I see it as more "right-hand path" vs "left-hand path" philosophies. RHP is about giving up one's individuality to become part of a greater whole (Templars). Those 3 assassins were major badasses, probably more skilled than the other AC protagonists with the exception of Bayek. They systematically cut off every limb from the Templar Order then build their own strength while the Templars are crippled.
