- Welcome back to the Vault of Glass. Today, we'll be going over the Templar encounters in the Destiny 2 version of the raid. Atheon will be next and I'll have my thoughts on the raid later in the week.
Introduction - 0:00
Opening the Door & Confluxes - 1:04
Oracle Encounter - 4:45
Templar Encounter - 8:50
Song: • First To Last - Gunnar...
Datto's suggestions:
Subclasses: I really like using Stasis here mainly because it actually feels impactful and because I don't often use it during regular play since there are rarely enough enemies in day to day content for me to really take advantage of it. In here, there are lots of enemies to freeze AND it is actually really useful to have. During Templar though, it's all about burst supers, Thundercrash, Chaos Reach, Nova Bomb and Golden Gun. I would definitely still like 1 Well of Radiance though.
Weapons: For the first two encounters, Trinity Ghoul is absolutely amazing along with the Huckleberry. Trinity Ghoul can just wipe out huge groups of enemies in a couple of shots. You'll really see its power in the oracle encounter, especially if you're in the middle as you'll have no less than a dozen goblins spawning at a time. There is no better feeling than wiping out 9 of them with 1 shot. The Huckleberry is a much more hands on weapon, but ramping it up to x3 will be no problem at all and you will mow everything down. Eriana's Vow is perfect for taking out Hobgoblins if you're having trouble with that. A lot of people have suggested Xenophage as well for oracles and it'll do a great job at wiping those goblin groups. For Templar, double slug shotguns are still the way to go, but honestly, this fight is easy enough that you can get away with almost anything.
Mods: There are solar snipers from hobgoblins, goblins shoot solar guns and Templar does void splash damage. Templar is somewhat of a threat, but I think a solar protection mod wouldn't be terrible, along with a reserves mod or Concussive Dampener to continue to protect against Templar. Offensively, Global Reach is really all you need. Slap on an Ikelos SMG, pop an orb and literally destroy the entire room. Charged With Light mods work as well, but I wouldn't go too crazy with a build here, your standard Taking Charge/High Energy Fire or Protective Light will do, plus some generic "more ability energy" mods.

It’s that time again:
One track on a 15 minute loop
THE MUSIC IS BACK
XenophagE
Yay I missed the datto music . It gives me energy
YEAH
Dunnun dun nun nun
YES
“It’s a D1 raid, it can’t be that hard. Easy 20 minute adventure.”
It took my team 12 hours to finish Tempo’s Edge with only a short break in between the two runs. Draining, but fun.
@Shaun Ferrell I was losing sanity after 5 hrs of Templar smacking us
But I'm with out a team😂
I didn't play D1 but how long is the D2 VoG compared to the OG?
@@dhru06 same encounter length, user mileage will vary on IRL time to complete
50% here for the guide
50% here for the guide MUSIC
SAME
perfectly balanced as all things should be
First to Last, by Gunnar Olsen. Legendary song
This is written like a trip through time, about a trip through time.
I can’t wait for the “wtf I thought that raid was released in 2014!” Comments in a few years when people forget this returned
The nostalgia hits different when datto plays this music
All hail the guide music!
Back in OG destiny I used to spend countless hours crossing between my gameplay & your videos. Studying how to be an effective loot goblin and trusted raid teammate. I’ve been gone for a long time. But I’ve recently hopped back into this world and am having a great time 😎 although none of my old friends play anymore, it’s good to see you in the VOG again friend. To anyone who may read this may your loot drops be righteous, see you on the ground Guardians.
May luck be on your side too!
I read this and ran the raid and got a rewind firefly fatebringer and a slideshot opening shot shotty😅
I’m In the same boat I just recently started playing again since forsaken lol
I can't learn anything without this music
It actually helps me learn, no joke.
I love the new changes in all the encounters, shout out oracles for not lasting for YEARS anymore, shit was just a drag before.
I like that it isn't just "Oh, an Oracle... BANG BANG BANG"
That's kinda the theme of most encounters in VoG 2.0. Confluxes don't go on for 3 and a half years, oracles don't go on for 7 years and gatekeepers *feels* shorter but is generally just a more engaging encounter
Got confused and thought I clicked the d1 version. Going to watch that now to beat the 390 hard mode
?
@@HeroicLeo8125 he accidentally got the wrong destiny game raid guide
All the people who completed vault and/or challenge mood prior to the datto vid:
Here's your crown 👑 kings/queens
I can’t even beat it post-datto vid. I’m just too low of a light level.
Thanks
Thank you good sir
thank you for making this in a way that helps for those of us that started in D2!
One of the few tracks form the CZcams Audio Library that isn't garbage and you are making the most of it. Good job
For the full experience play it on "360 mode." 30fps lock, 72 fov, all graphics low, and pull the resolution scale down to around 720p. New raid challenge?
Yoooo
Congrats on your day one clear!
Absolutely loved this raid and I can’t wait to run it again tomorrow!
I've beaten the raid already, got a few fatebringers but I'm still here bumping to a Datto VOG guide like it's 2014!
Ah good ole datto guides, like I already know how this whole encounter works I just like listening to him
The music just. does. not. quit. and i love it, glad to hear it again.
The Templar encounter was one of my favorites for Day 1, and definitely left a good impression on me leaving it
You could say it gave you a lasting impression
Honestly same. My group got stumped on atheon and ended up not completing it, but Templar was honestly a blast. Took us about 3 hours or so, and it really was a great experience
@@F_TH_BT God I wish I could relate ahaha. We never completed it after 5 hours of trying :(
Datto is the GOAT. Thanks for all you do for the community dude
"Welcome to this song on a loop for (x) minutes."
The Return of a King
Your guides are always top tier, I just wish you started with Atheon since my team is stuck there.
Great video - really clear and well explained. 👍
only watched this to bring that rush of memories back from when i watched my d1 to prep for my first ever destiny raid back in the day. the musics back too! on a side note for anyone here learning on the oracle pre templar phase just use xeno. it one shots hobs and oracles.
For teams struggling with the oracles something our team was number them 1-7 going clockwise. 1 would be middle and 7 would be the oracle closest to the back on the right side. it also helps to type the order of the oracles into chat if your on pc.
Appreciated, as always
If they haven’t changed from D1, the notes for oracles are: C (M), D (L1), E (R1), F# (L2), G (R2), A (L3), Bb (R3)
Love to see and hear it. :D.
Good to be back.
This video gives me serotonin
"that music is playing again... what is THAT MELODY?!!!!"
Xeno is absolutely amazing for this. Managed to 2 phase em 😁
I literally have a 1hr loop of this music and I still come to this video just to hear Dattos voice over the music.
Man. The music is why I stay 😊
YEEEESSSS THE MUSIC IS BACK
I found that running Liar’s Handshake on top tree Arcstrider to actually be a really good loadout if you’re having survivability issues as a Hunter, especially when Contest was active
Nice lets go!!
wow that music really brought me back
We boppin, learning, with grooviness!
For the oracles my team had two people with Xeno who sat around the back right pillar because from there you can see all 7 Oracle spawns. Then the other 4 people all just focused on killing enemies. Made the encounter WAY easier to coordinate and stay alive.
THAAAAANK YOU DADDO
-D2 New Light
We numbered the oracles 1-7 starting with r3 as 1 and then going clockwise with l3 being 7. Then we just typed the order into chat for each wave so everyone knew the order
We did the same thing but started on mid oracle going clockwise it was much easier that way
Double slug anarchy on the ledge after contest mode for Templar is hilarious
The music the nostalgia hit hard man
this music is the reason i still live
I see what you did there with the music, back to D1 experience LOL
Best OST of all time
What a cool song
I dont really need the guide but I like watching videos anyway lol
This and Eater of Worlds are the only raids I’ve managed before a Datto guide got released. I know there were already guides for OGVoG, but I’m still counting this as a win.
This is my favorite song LETSGO 🎵
The fucking background music brought back so many memories wow
possibly unintentional troll by bungie when they said they wont change it much lol
Come for the Datto, stay for the music!!!!!!
I had a random add on 8:50 mark . I heard you wanted to know if there is random add where it should be. Great video
I don't even play destiny anore but VoG? OG MUSIC!! NOSTALGIAA CITYYYY
Ah how I've missed these tunes.
Man... The music 🤤
Lessgoooo first to last loop time!!!
I dont care what people say. The changes are NOT difficult. People are greatly exaggerating the difficulty of D2 VoG purely based on Contest Mode. I think its the most played D2 raid on Day 1 or its had most day 1 completions or something from numbers ive seen.
The changes were great. My group of raiders with little to moderate experience who havnt raided all together since Year 1 of D2 for Leviathan managed just fine on Non-Contest and picked up the new mechanics and had them down pat in a few runs. The D2 reprisal was great!
" It's looks okay, maybe I should try it day one."
Famous Last Words
Can confirm, here for the music. Ahhhh how I’ve missed it.
He’s sounds happy for the first time in awhile
I FUCKEN LOVE THE MUSIC SO MUCH
All hail the guide music
Anyone else do this blind day 1 but still watching this for the music? 😂
The BGM is back.. You should keep it there, it's nice
Ayyyy let's goooo!!!
My team’s strat for Templar was to ignore all the oracles after the first round and just focus on dps. We would then group up in the middle and cleanse and then we would continue dps
One of the best part of doing a day 1 is you know the raid insanely well...
So why am I here? the snazy music.
10% of video: raid guide
90 % of the video: god tier music.
THE MUSIC LETS GO
As a musician with almost perfect pitch, I see this as an absolute win
omg that raid guide music tho XD
My team found that it was incredibly easy to kill Templar if everyone forgets about oracles (after the first set) and just burning it and then everyone cleansing when we needed to.
For oracle I like
3 oracle people
3 mob clear.
1 for the 3 on the left (spot at the back near hidden left gives vision on all of the left ones.)
1 for the 3 on right
and 1 for middle. This one can also kill snipers.
With that you just need to call the order you got em.
(1...2....3....4...,etc...)
Call em again has you destroy them.
This keeps comms super clear has there is only usually 2 people calling numbers.
This also lets the mob clearer camp the spawns and immediately delete them.
Music slaps harder than a step dad 🔥🔥🔥
That's a bruh and a boomer moment
RETURN OF THE RAID MUSIC
THE MUSIC!
THE MUSSSSSIIIICCCCCCC MY PRAYERS ARE ANSWERED
For oracles, my team numbered the oracles 1 to 7 in a clockwise path which correspond with R3 to L3 and memorized that. Easier to remember.
so R3 was 1, R2, was 2, R3 was 3 etc.
or did the numbers start from L3?
@@praisethesun980 R3 is 1 and continue from there
THE STOCK MUSIC HITS DIFFERENT
i used to crutch on these guides now i complete the raid before they come out but i still come back for music
THE MUSIC FeelsStrongMan
MUSIC HAS RETURNED
6:50 Look at this casual, not knowing anti barrier rounds pierce hobgoblin invincibility
I KNEW I WASNT THE ONLY ONE
He ends up doing it, but it wasn't worth it in contest mode :) When he tried it took an extra 3-4 shots to finish them off because regen was so quick so you just ended up wasting ammo 😁 On normal it'll be fine though
"templar encounters" I thought there was like, hidden different versions we missed or something lmao, didn't realize it was just going to be about oracles and confluxes as well haha
The music!
It’s been years hearing the same background music, but still slaps man👏👏
literally just here for the music and the voice
Eriannas vow does some real work all the way up to templar, then the usual, anarchy dps special and ikelos smg
Quick thing of note, you can absolutely just ignore the hobgoblins during the Oracle encounter. My team was able to do this DURING contest mode and even got a triumph for it, so during normal mode this should be easy as hell
I really can’t wrap my head around these oracles
Got vision on my first run yesterday
oh shit, its the song!
I've done VoG 3 times I'm just here for the song.
Literally here just for the music
Datto coming in making content for our dumbasses for a dead game, respect.
