    Elvis Presley Explains The Real Reason He Divorced Priscilla In Rare Recording
    On October 9, 1973, Elvis and Priscilla Presley's divorce was made official. The couple filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica.
    (On January 8, 1972, Elvis files for divorce. The previous August they had separated, and Priscilla had moved out of their Holmby Hills mansion. There are no recriminations, no hard feelings on either side.)
    October 9, 1973 - the day Elvis and Priscilla became officially divorced.
    The divorce documents were signed at the Los Angeles Superior Courthouse in Santa Monica, California to end the Presley's six year marriage. Superior Judge Laurence J. Rittenbrand granted the divorce.
    The Times Newspaper reported the next day, "Elvis and Priscilla emerged from the courthouse arm in arm, and Presley gave his ex-wife a friendly kiss before driving off." Former Los Angeles Times photographer George Fry captured exclusive images of Elvis and Priscilla leaving arm in arm out of the courthouse.
    Elvis and Priscilla met in Germany on September 13, 1959. They married May 1, 1967 in Las Vegas, and their Daughter Lisa Marie Presley was born February 1, 1968.

    I once asked Elvis what he said to Priscilla when the picture was taken at the courthouse. He sad “ If you ever need anything call me. I’ll always love you. “ George Klein
