  • Save a ton of money and easily repair your car's splash / engine shield using a simple fibreglass solution. Avoid paying a main dealer $250USD plus for a new splash shield when the old damaged could be given a new life.

This was a game changer - great tip and super easy to do! £15 a kit cost from halfords, was actually harder taking the guard off than doing this 👍

Nice job, but messy job for shield, could also use plastic welder

Thanks you for the tip. I was going to buy a fiber glass resin composite kit to fabricate the entire plate, but with your tip I'm simply going to apply the composite over the broken tabs/screw holes of the plate. And maybe I'm going to spread fiber and resin all over the plate as well, to reinforce it. My car has two of these plates and the dealership is asking $400 for one and $500 for the other one - these cost basically $10 to manufacture. On my car these are important because there are several hoses low to the ground and exposed to road debris.

Nice work mate, I have a similar issue that I need to fix, my jack head went right through my splash shield as I had mislocated the jack and the damned car slipped off the jack! I was going to put axle stands underneath but it dropped before I got the chance to put the stands under. It was a pure idiot operator error on my part, I should have also chocked the rear wheels but I didn't and I normally dont to be honest. My car is quite rare - 2004 Jag XKR and I wasn't about to spend megabucks to replace the panel, that's even if I could find one! Man it peeved me off I can tell you! I felt really stupid, had cars all my life and try to do most jobs myself, it had to happen to the most expensive car I've ever owned. I think it's my age tbh too...tend to make mistakes after the age of 55 it seems, dropping things more often too. I will follow your repair process, you did a great job. I bought some fibreglass and have epoxy resin but I might add black colour dye to mine rather than paint later, not sure just yet though. Anyway your video is great, top notch even, so thanks very much! 👍 cheers from New Zealand.

I had enough and removed mine completely on peugeot 308sw. Designers of the car were so smart that they left large holes on the shield so it throws snow upwards and fills the engine bay with snow haha. Such a useless part and it slows down maintenance when its a hassle to remove from it's rusted clips and screws.

Cool if you can get it for that price (probably in the USA) but there are also many splash shields no longer available as the model of vehicle isn't popular

@brieftodo right, I have an 09 Jaguar XF, and a "new" splash shield is like $300. Being able to rehab your old one would be very much worth it.
