That look of pride in Mr. Miyagi’s face STILL gets me, 40 years later. 😢
There is so much expression in that look.
Ralph Macchio still owns that yellow car to this day. He's 62 years old now, but looks like he's in his 40s.
Ralph has always looked so young bc he's half Greek.
And us Greeks don't creak. 🇬🇷
Yeah. The studio gifted him the car when the movie wrapped. It’s a ‘50 or ‘51 Ford.
Hell, he looked 12 in the movie.
@@pugowner1347 He is actually 3 years older than William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence) in this movie.
@@CathyHolton-jh1xvIt's a 46 to 48.
Kids and teens who grew up in the 80's will forever associate Bananarama's "Cruel Summer" with Daniel LaRusso riding his bike to school.
I agree
Absolutely 👍🏻
So, it's not only me!😄

”Wax on, wax off” will forever be an iconic line.
Kinda sad how cobra kai has both ruined and improved that line
As a professional window washer, I get people saying that to me ALL the time.
I think it's beautiful that once Daniel learned the heartache that Mr Miyagi was living with; he busted his ass to practice, and make Mr Miyagi proud of him. ❤
The last shot in the movie with Miyagi smiling says it all 😊
The father Daniel needed and the son Miyagi missed getting to teach his lessons. Beautiful story
@@Deepthoughtsabound YES! I've always said the same thing..
The scene where he reads the letter then bows to him and it fades into him balancing on the boat and the music always gets me a little
I watched this in the theaters when I was 12 or 13. When Daniel landed that final kick, the audience went apeshit, haha. Great memories.
ditto.. in a cinema in London
Sure did!! What a great memory ❤
Ralph Maccio was kicking ass for all us kids who were bullied at school coz we didn't fit in or weren't Don Juan or whatever! 🏆
I was 14 in 1984 and I remember going to see this movie when I lived in Rio Brazil with my dad and cousin❤ and of course I had a crush on Ralph Macchio 😜
@@Sheffield_Steve So true!
Legend has it that the song in the Tournament “you’re the best” was originally written for Rocky 3 but Stallone went with “eye of the tiger” instead. It was used for Karate Kid a year later.
Cool. Never heard that but there is a link, John Avilsden directed 'Rocky' (the first film)and this
Stallone was going to use Queen's big 1981 hit. Another one bites the Dust. But either Queen simply didn't want it used in a movie. Or they wanted too much money to use it. So Sly hired Survivor to write him a new theme for Rocky III. They took the line Eye of the Tiger from Apollo Creed's line in the movie. Stallone sent them a copy on VHS to watch. To give the writer/s? inspiration to write a theme.
Two years later. Rocky III came out in 1982 and The Karate Kid came out in 1984.
And Eye of the Tiger was kind of a throw away song as they had what they thought were 2 better options for Stallone. But he liked Eye of the Tiger. The rest is history.
This was actually confirmed by Joe Esposito on the Adam Carolla show. I remember he called in because Adam was always talking about how the line “History repeats itself…” didn’t make any sense in The Karate Kid.
Everyone is going to demand the whole series of movies and Kobra Kai. They're not wrong.
Please not the next karate kid though 🙏
@MitchClement-il6iq the last two don't count IMO. There are only 3. Just like there's only 2 Indiana Jones and 3 Alien movies, and 2 Die Hard movies, 2 Terminator movies. Etc. The throw away cash grab stuff should be ignored.
@@st0n3p0ny totally agree, it's a terrible movie with terrible acting.
Only two Indiana Jones movies? Wonder which of the actual three you threw out.
Agree on only two die hards, but which two? Because Die Hard 2 is dogsh!t.
@chriscurran981 I actually liked Temple of Doom and Die Hard 2. But yeah I forgot the order, Temple and Last Crusade are obviously the best.
People think this is just a silly 80s karate movie but it surprises people with heart. Its about Daniel and Miyagi. Their relationship through the trilogy is great.
The crane kick at the end is the first time that I experienced the chills. As an adult, it is usually music that evokes that kind of sensation in me, but I will never forget the first time I watched this.
Watch Cobra 🐍Kai after watching these
100%
I co-sign this
Yes yes yessss
Yes please and 2 and 3!!
Another vote for you guys watching Cobra Kai. It’s a sequel series set 35 years later and continues the story of Daniel and Johnny as middle aged adults with the same actors reprising their roles and teaching a new generation of kids.
So good!!!
Please watch cobra kai 🙏
But not untill after they watched Karate Kid 2 and 3. To get the whole historical context
l LOVE season 1 of Kobra Kai. ❤❤
If they don't watch Cobra Kai, they don't love us. It was a lie all along...
The discipline Mr. Miyagi was allegedly teaching Daniel was Guju-Ryu. (54 year practitioner) It originated in Okinawa and the founder's name was Chojun Miyagi, who inspired Mr. Miyagi's character. The primary teaching is defense. Only when that fails should you bring in an offensive posture and always end it as fast and efficiently as possible without hurting your opponent seriously unless absolutely necessary. NEVER hurt someone just because you can!
You better hurt someone that tries to hurt you, because you won't have that many opportunies to do so.
@@s4ulyaniv35 Lesson one: The ability to harm someone pales in comparison to the ability to show compassion.
This just became my favorite Asia & BJ intro ! She tried so hard to keep a straight face and get it done.. lol
BJ like NAH ! Lmao
I was cracking up during the intro. I was thinking, we haven't even made it to the movie yet and I'm already laughing. I love them. They are so funny and always make me laugh. ❤❤❤😂
I was smiling the whole time! Asia & BJ are the best - so funny and smart.
😂
The line you missed was good advice especially for young people who only know how to look for answers outside of themselves. When they were cutting the Bonsai trees, he told daniel, "when it comes from inside of you, it's always right." ❤️
It took me several times to catch all of Miaygi’s advices he drops on Daniel. He’s such a good mentor and teacher. It wasn’t until I was an adult to fully appreciate his character and love the movie even more !!
Nahhh ... what comes from inside isnt always right. I disagree respectfully.
A lot of people get confused that Mr. Miyagi calls Daniel “Daniel Son”, when he’s actually calling him “Daniel-San” which is just a polite title for Mr. in Japanese.
I was a kid when this movie came out. When I got to college, it became the go-to movie for watching at a moment's notice for me and my buddies. We could recite it, mimic it. We loved it. What a special movie!
You guys HAVE to watch the other 3 movies in the Miyagi-verse and then you HAVE TO react to Cobra Kai, which takes place almost 35 years the OG movie from 1984. I was 7 when the OG movie came out. It inspired me to obtain a blue belt in Taekwando and a green belt in Shotokan. Ralph Maccio and William Zabka (Johnny) are in Cobra Kai! It's one of my new favorite shows. If you loved the Karate Kid as a kid, you'd LOVE Cobra Kai! The llast season (season 6) is getting ready to air either late this year or sometime next year so great time to start watching it!
11:29 "If come from inside you, always right one."

The best part is watching Miyagi's face after Daniel used that crane kick. Miyagi was training and doing that all his life, but never had to use it, and he realized Daniel was observing his teachings at that moment
Mr. Miyagi's wife died from complications of child birth while being held at Manzanar, one of the concentration camps where Japanese American's were imprisoned. This occurred while he himself was fighting in the European theater with the 442nd Regiment which was made up almost entirely of Japanese Americans and is the most decorated unit in US military history.
Producers wanted this scene removed from movie because they wanted Mr. Miyagi to be an Asian Mystic. The director fought for it because he wanted Miyagi to be a real person with his own pain and sorrow building a real relationship with Daniel.
@@melanieszelong4664 And it was this scene that earned Pat Morita an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
Funny thing is Ralph Macchio was 22 during filming. the oldest cast member of the kids..
Ralph macchio is older that the actor who played terry silver in part 3😂😂😂
And now he's ten years older than Pat Morita was in this film.
And he still looks like a child!
@@SuburbanSavage It's crazy. He's 62 years old now and he looks 30.
I heard about in the 3rd one they had to write out any kissing scenes cause he was close to 30 while the girl in the movie was still like 17 and Ralph was not playing that and getting in trouble. Ask why would they even try to keep it in the script if they cast someone not 18+
Seriously one of the best movies of all time. PLEASE react to Karate Kid II next!!!
Wax On, Wax Off! Classic line!
All 3 are good. Pat Morita was on a few episodes on Sanford & Son. He was also on Happy Days as Al. He was a comedian.
On Happy Days, Pat Morita played Arnold, the original owner of their hangout of the same name. Al Molinaro played Al, who took over Arnold's and renamed it Al's
@@danpoutsma1351 that's right. I mixed that up. Thanks
He went by “The hip Nip” as a comedian.
He got an Oscar nomination for his role as Mr. Miyagi.
He was in a few episodes of M*A*S*H too, he's so funny❤❤
That boat scene was not scripted.. Pat Morita was just having fun by dunking Ralph but they kept it in. You can tell Ralph was not expecting that cold water.
Pat Morita was a professional comedian. That is his natural disposition.
Awww that just makes it way more wholesome and hilarious
With the Bonsai, Mr. Miyagi taught Daniel how to focus his mind, not to wander as he does.
You guys have to watch part 2 now!!! It’s actually just as good!!!
Better.
First and second ones were the best ones
16:47 "Win, lose, no matter. You make good fight, earn respect."
If only that were always true. Too many times, bullies don't care about respect. They just keep trying to hurt people. They only leave you alone because they know you can beat them. That's more fear than respect.
Pat Morita is a legend, you could really see the passion in his eyes. RIP legend
"I'm walkin' around with a bat from now on."
Oh CRAP, that caught me off guard. Too funny....
I saw this when I was 10 years old and studying Okinawan Karate. The resason that Mr. Miyagi had Daniel do the chores was to not only teach him basic defense, but to strengthen his muscles, especially the smaller muscle groups. Also, he looked at Daniel as the son that he lost. 😉 Loved seeing you guys react to this one!❤
Three things from this movie any Gen X kid will respond to "Sweep the leg" "Get him a body bag" and we cannot hear "You're the best" by Joe Esposito without hearing that ref going "yahhh" and "point, winner!"
Speaking of that song, funny you guys mentioned Rocky as it was originally pitched for Rocky 3 (But Stallone wanted and unkown band it honor of Rocky being an unknown in the first movie)
Also the guy you called "Mr Blond Eyebrows" is the son of the late Steve McQueen
The Karate Kid is such a great movie. I always cry, because Mr. Miyagi reminds me so much of my grandfather. My grandfather's last name is Miyaji. My grandfather was from Okinawa as well. He used to talk very similar to me. He was so knowledgeable about everything. I learned so much from him. He used to wear khaki shirts and slacks as well. I miss him so much. The times we spent together was priceless. R.I.P. GRANDPA!!! I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!! ❤️❤️❤️🥹🥹🥹
Great reaction guys.👍👍👍 Oh, The Karate Kid III is just as great!!! 🔥🔥🔥 LOVE YOUR REACTIONS!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Guys... you _have to_ watch The Last Dragon! Last Dragon, Karate Kid, and Revenge of the Ninja are quintessential 80s martial arts films!
Same here fellow The Last Dragon fan! Sho Nuff!
I love RotN. Franco Nero was awesome. That was one of my favorites in the 80's. It was great to see Nero in John Wick 2.
ALL THOSE ARE AMAZING FILMS
The Last Dragon is a must see movie that few know about. It's kinda sad.
Vanity was absolutely stunning.
sho nuff
Mr. Miyagi's wife was in an internment camp, I believe. She died in childbirth due to lack of medical care. All while Mr. Miyagi had volunteered to fight for the U.S. in Europe against Germany. A lot of folks miss this bit.
Edit: Karate Kid II is a must. III...? But, II goes pretty hard.
He was in Europe, in an all Japanese american army unit. His wife was in a Japanese internment camp and there wasnt a doctor close enough to save either of them when there were issues either during labor or before (maybe eclampsia).
Wow. I can't believe you guys are just now getting to this one. This is a classic. And I thought everyone has seen this movie. But better late than never. @AsiaandBJ - Mr. Miyagi calls him Daniel-san as a sign of respect. That is the "san" part.
Ralph's best movie, Crossroads. My friends and I had a Crossroads party once a year for many years. Got together and watched it. GREAT movie!!!!!
I'm with you - crossroads is an amazing film!
Yeah, Crossroads! ♥
Top 5 favorite movies of all time for sure. I was never really into animated movies. I was watching The Karate Kid 1 and 2, The Breakfast Club, Gremlins, Goonies and others at 3 or 4 years old.
I feel like Mr Myagi training was a lot like what the Army does. It's not just about punching and fitness. You learn muscle memory for different positions, you learn how to harden your body, stamina, being out in the elements, pushing through and focusing until the job is done, and all that translated into a better student that can now learn how to fight more effectively and effeciently.
I am Japanese, and after watching this movie, whenever I saw a standing wood in town I would stand on one leg and practice my crane technique, and I also practiced Miyagi-do defense moves almost every day.
Btw the crane technique can also be used in real fight! In a UFC match, Lyoto Machida knocked out Randy Couture with a the crane technique!
Fun fact
With cooperative weather, you can walk across the United States in about 95 days. Driving is a little faster. There's a greyhound from New York to Los Angeles that takes almost two weeks. 2 weeks on a bus, man I wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Edit: bonsai are the most magnificent gift.
if you really want a new level of appreciation for mr. Myagi's gift of the bonsai to Danny and his mom, look up how long it takes to grow and sculpt a bonsai and check out how much a mature, well manicured bonsai is worth.
Greyhound buses stop a billion times. It's not a normal drive. I've been on Greyhound. It's awful. You can drive yourself across the country in 3 days if you don't stop much.
Oh man, who needs google?!
I took a Greyhound from New York to Los Angeles and it took three days.
The late great Pat Morita (Mr. Myagai) started off as a standup comedian. He was on the 1970s sitcom Happy Days and appeared Sanford and Son! He actually did a great Redd Foxx impersonation!
Took me about 3 days to get to AZ from Boston. 3-4 days from NJ to CA sounds about right. Fun fact, Ralph Macchio owns that yellow Ford to this day. Such a great flick. A fav of my father and I.
Sometimes you think you see everything, but not everything is what you eyes see,you think you were just wroking but you were learning karate. I will always rememember his words that they were like:
Daniel:You could have kill him
Miyagi:For a man without no mercy in his heart,to live with that is worst than death
this movie along with Terminator and Back to the future were, are and will be gems forever.
Grettings from Argentina.
This movie came out in 1984, it's been 40 years! I was in kindergarten lol. A classic, "Get him a bodybag....yeaaah!" 😂
I love this movie. This is why, while i was in Afghan, i told my Marines to "sweep the leg."
I’ve actually driven from Newark to Los Angeles. If you stop to sleep, maybe see a couple sights once you hit the rockies and the deserts on the western side of the them, it takes about 4-5 days.
Classic movie, the guy Dutch that got into Daniel's face in the locker room is the son of Steve McQueen. Mr. Miyagi is somewhere in my top 5 favorite movie characters of all time and Pat did get an Oscar nomination for this movie.
I never knew that about him being Steve McQueen's son.
And his son was on the vampire diaries..Steve McQueens grandson....
I graduated in 83 and this was a great 84 summer movie.
Surprisingly, Ralph Macchio was actually in his 20’s when this was filmed
Karate Kid came out in 1984 along with Beverly Hills Cop and Ghostbusters and now 40 years later all 3 of those movies are coming out either on Netflix (Beverly Hills Cop) or at the theatre.
"I tried to do the crane kick and they grabbed my leg, threw me down!" LOL
Let’s add Kobra Kai to the watch list!! After you watch Karate Kid 2 and 3 of course!!!
i remember watching this at the cinema.. when Daniel did his big crane kick to win the tournament, the whole audience jumped up clapping and cheering, the atmosphere was crazy
I loved the Karate kid so much when I was a kid. I watched it 2X sometimes 3X a day for seven years.
You guys have really never seen this movie?!?!? Sweet mother of all that's holy!!!😄 This movie is a national treasure! We who grew up in the 80s wouldn't trade it for anything!💯
He literally said at the beginning it was one of his favorite childhood movies😂
Ralph Macchio played Johnny in the Outsiders. Johnny was the guy that died at the end from the burns he got rescuing that little kids from a burning building!
They talk about that in the video. Did you watch it?
Stay gold, Ponyboy!
Karate BJ is the best thing I will see today, I am positive. Asia's face at 28:04 was hilarious! She didn't even need to say "He botherin' me!" that was a "He-botherin-me" face if I ever saw one.
Fully agree. 😄
Mr. Miagi is training Daniel in the BASIC defence moves of Karate .... i saw the movie back in 1984 but first began on Karate in the 90s coz i met a person who had a high "belt" in it when i startet in a school for higher learning ...... After that i went into the army ..... and have never returned to Karate although i miss it ALOT but im old , gray and out of shape today ! 🤪
He works the basic defences into Daniels "spine" ..... so it kinda comes "natural" to him in the tournament ahead !
It is shown when Daniel thinks Mr. Miagi just wants cheap labour and Mr. Miagi tryes to hit him in different ways and Daniel fends of ALL the attacks like he was born to do so ! 🤪
PS : MANY people here in Denmark began to train Karate after this movie came out ....
(And i think we ALL understand why)
One of my most favorite memories as a kid growing up in the 80's. When we checked out this VHS from the video store, I think my family and I wore it out, as many times as we watched it on our VCR. Wow. There are so many dated things in that previous statement. Ha!
The Karate Kid was inspired by the movie Rocky. John Avildsen directed the Karate Kid as he did Rocky and Bill Conti provided the music for the Karate Kid as he did Rocky. I remember after the success from the first Karate Kid, there was a high rise in karate enrollment all across the country. And going into the sequal Kararte Kid II, there was a huge market. Merchandise such as tshirts, posters, stickers, booklets, action figures all Karate Kid related.
Asia the MVP of this reaction she had me cackling every time Daniel was doing a new chore and I am here for her disdain and contempt for Kreese 😂😂
Great reaction as usual you two. I always love your commentary. I love the father/son bond between Mr. Miyagi and Daniel was amazing. Daniel without a father and Mr. Migagi losing his son. This was healing from them both. But also, if you notice you had two military men.... Kreese from Vietnam and Mr. Miyagi was a Medal of Honor recipient from WWII. You are right about leadership. One being a bad leader and one a good leader. This movie always make me remember my father who passed...He was my Yoda/Mr. Miyagi...he always had words of wisdom and was a gentle but strong man.
Our dog was born and abandoned during hurricane Harvey, so he hates storms too, it's worse than a toddler in the middle of the night.
Dutch is Steve McQueen's son!
A true "Chad"
One of my favorite movies. I’m with BJ. The scene where we realize Miyagi has actually been teaching Daniel the whole time brings a tear to my eye too.
I appreciate this movie a lot more as an adult. I hated it growing up because I was bullied, and physically abused at home; just constantly being beaten up, and I started Karate when I was 9. My sensei was very much like Kreese from Kobra Kai. He had me fighting as a White & Yellow belt against students who were brown & black belts (with no protective gear, no padding on the head, fists or feet!) We were supposed to wear pads, but he didn't believe in them, and it was full contact. I was getting pummeled 3x a week trying to learn how to defend myself.
After a year + of that, I convinced my mom to take me somewhere else. So I started Kung Fu (which erased all my training). I was an Orange belt after a year, and a half, now I was a white belt again (actually no belt to start over). The Belt system is White, then you're given Kata's (a series of moves that gets more and more advanced) then you earn a yellow stripe, then two, then you go through longer Kata's and a much bigger challenge to get your yellow belt and so on. Same with all belts, it's a ton of work. Then it's Orange or gold, then green, purple, blue, red, brown and black. Then 10 degrees of black belt.
It was a much better place, but after two years I was only a green belt halfway to purple, then we couldn't afford it anymore. I was 13.
I hated that he was treated like he was so superior to me in just 2 months when in reality it's impossible to compete as he did. I did tournaments, that was realistic (except a punch to the face was illegal (or was in the 80's)). Daniel would barely make it out of the first round (if he was lucky) so I felt like the movie was a lie. I was just a kid, and expecting it to be more like what I went through. The beatings he took were realistic, I know that much, and had many a lot worse.
I can say this much, I've been in maybe 100 fights since I left martial arts (only once as an adult, but I never started a fight in my life. I just end them). Since that time with all the bullying I never lost a fight again. Well... once. After getting off the bus on the way home in 8th grade, I was jumped from behind by 5 other kids. The other time was as a freshman in college. We were also jumped from behind late at night in the dark by several guys. I fought back as best as I could. I don't recall being hit after the first hit to my right knee by something. I blocked everything else despite the fact that I couldn't see anything, but I was stabbed and cut in the face by a knife (which probably saved my roommates life because he was behind me holding onto my shirt). That was 1993. Proud to say I haven't been in a fight since. I HATE FIGHTING!!! But it was a rough childhood for sure.
The wax on wax off stuff was a less effective representation of the 8 blocks. That's the very first thing I learned. In the movie, the blocks are real, but they aren't full motion, more like a 3/4 motion or block.
Understanding film making, I enjoy it a lot now, but man it pissed me off when I was a kid. Two Months??? No way in Hell!
I hear you there mate.
Went through hell at school and was glad when it was all over! In the UK we have a saying "School days are the best of your life", yeah right! That phrase obviously came from the popular kid who was a bullying Piece of 💩 I've never quite gotten over those days and possibly still make it difficult for me to trust people to this day, always thinking that they're my friend or talking now, but how long before they stab me in the back or start having a go at you?!
I cheered watching this film as a kid however, I think Ralph Maccio kicking ass was for all of us!
Most people don't notice, but Mr. Miyagi never breaks eye contact with Kreese when he first meets him at the Cobra Kai dojo. He later says, "Always look eye."
Always thought it was neat Miyagi started with basic strength and muscle memory when training Daniel
It really strengthens the underdog story since he is portrayed as a skinny target for the "bullies"
23:50 “Both sides” 😂. Daniel only completed the inner face of the fence, not the outer face. 🤣
A Masterpiece from the 80s.
Watched it so many Times in the Movies back in the Days.
We loved that Movie.
Watch all 3 of these movies closely then enjoy all the Easter eggs in Cobra Kai!
Love, love, love Cobra Kai!!
I love yalls chemistry together! Then how we get a female and male view, it makes a great mix
Karate Kid's influence on BJ's childhood is like the influence that The Goonies had on me. Don't get me wrong, for a solid 3-4 years, we would go to the playground after school and have ourselves karate matches in the sandpit (a prepubescent Fight Club). It made an impact on my childhood, but not in the same way The Goonies did.
It's probably because I was a pretty adventurous kid and I also came from a poor household. As a child, I had convinced myself that, one day, one of my adventures would lead me to a treasure like One Eyed Willy's and that it would fix all of my family's problems.
Greatest lesson from this movie…Balance is Key! This lesson has served me well throughout my whole life. Balance is key in every aspect of life
Both Mr Miyagi and Daniel gave each other balance. Great lesson indeed
"Wax on, wax off".
Sometimes life's lessons remain hidden until they need to be seen.
That is what I took from that.
I may be wrong though.
Finish the KK movies and checkout Cobra Kai. Excellent series. I started my son in Kenpo when he was 10. He learned fast. He would send the other kids and teens flying when he kicked them and would have to greatly pull his punches. He was so strong physically that he had to spar with the adult class. Even they didn't want to get hit by him. He gets it from me. I broke several of the punching dummies with the sand filled bottoms. If I hit them as hard as I could, I'd always break the top part off. When my son turned 15, he decided to try the gym with his older brother. He did a 1200 lb leg press for 10 reps with zero issues. I'm so proud. Thx for the great video !!
What a cute little puppy dog. You guys should have her on more often.. She would steal the show. Speaking of steal, this trilogy really brings back the innocence of that bi-gone era. Things that we loved and things that were not so good. It was life. And a good life is always full of challenges. Danny Laruso had many more to overcome in this trilogy
I know everyone is saying it but if you’re an 80’s kid and a fan of The Karate Kid like I was as a kid, you have to watch the next two films and then Cobra Kai. The way they revived that world and remixed the narrative is genius. It makes you nostalgic for the 80’s but also brings all of it into the present with the new Gen Z kids. It’s hilarious. I know BJ would love it and Asia too.
I loved all three Karate Kid movies growing up that I ended up liking karate overall. Classic movies
The flute you hear is actually a Romanian Panpipe, played by Gheorges Zamfir
To this day, when my wife and I do each other a favor we often reply with....
"You're the best, aro-ound. Nothing's ever gonna bring you down".
It’s funny you mentioned Rocky a few times in the video. This movie was directed by John G. Avildsen who also directed the first Rocky and Rocky 5.
Movie was so full I had to seat on carpet in the isle 😂😂😂at the picture theater
Me 2, 1 of my All -time Favorites! Love you both, making me laugh! Thank you both
17:58 Asia: "He's snoring!"
BJ: "Nah, he meditating." Lmao 😁😂😅
The actress who plays Ali Elizabeth Shue. She was also in Back To The Future.

8:43 Asia: Busts BJ's Balls
BJ: "I'm a Karate Man! I bruise on the inside!". 🤣
Funny thing is Pat Morita that played Mr. Miyagi was a comedian in the 60' and 70's an speaks perfect English...he spoke with that accent to make it more authentic...one of his good friends was Redd Foxx (Fred Sanford)...look up Pat Morita interviews on how he became Mr. Miyagi, they're interesting and funny👍
"San" is a term of respect added to the end of a person's name in Japanese. Ex: Alex-san (like Mr./Ms./Mrs.).
The art of bonsai takes a lot of work and practice-traditional Japanese Zen.
And Mr. Miyagi's wife and child died in one of the Japanese internment camps... No doctor or medical care
I feel you BJ we from the same generation. People just won't understand unless you were in it.
there's Karate Kid 1,2,3 and 4 plus a new Netflix series called Cobra Kai of all the actors from the Karate Kid movies in a modern day drama series, it's excellent
hey don’t forget the absolute garbage remake with Jaden Smith 😂😂
@@SeenGod yeah, I forgot on purpose , lol
Muscle memory is so important - and Daniel just packed a whole bunch of repetition into a short period of time. The best shortcut ever.
11:22-11:26 "If it come(s) from inside you, it (is) always (the) right one." Basically, telling Daniel to trim the tree from the heart; following that instinct will make it turn out okay.
42:03 Yep, Karate Kid II picks up directly after this one to tell a new story. Then there's III that settles Daniel's story with Mr. Miyagi as a trilogy. IV is a completely new student.
I live a few miles from Golf N Stuff, where they filmed the miniature golf and games scenes.
Right off the 605 👍
What a sweet movie!! Was thinking about these earlier today. This is so good... but the 2nd one is even better. The soundtrack is gorgeous too. And Pat Morita simply shines. But in the 2nd one he really shows his acting chops. Make sure y'all watch that one fr.
The instrument you were asking about, during the beach scene, is called a pan flute. And it was played for the film by one Gheorghe Zamfir.
I love it when Johnny gave Daniel the trophy and said |You're alright Laruso!"
This is an all time classic. The bond between Daniel and Mister Miyagi is perfect. All four movies are great. Although, most only watch the three and the 2010 remake.
