The best part about Eric is that he's not a gay character but an awesome character that just so happens to be gay. It's not shoved in your face and isn't stereotypical it just feels so natural. He quickly became my favourite character and the development between his and Adam's relationship was so emotional it even made me cry.

Boi this friendships and relationships representation is sooooo much better than the shows that constantly queerbait their queer audience. I just recently came from another fandom Supernatural and got a bit disappointed and heart broken with Destiel at the end of the show. So when I told my best friend about this, he suggested me this show instead. Btw I got a big smile on my face the moment I saw Eric and Otis who happens to be gay are being best friends on this show. Adam and Eric relationship make me jump out of my sit and scream at this.
Instead of saying “it wasn’t shoved down your face”, I think you mean that he’s painted as a 3D character. A human. A person’s sexuality is just part of who they are. Sex education is extremely refreshing because they give everyone their flowers.

@@williambuttlicker5654 it’s not exactly “stereotypical.” A lot of gay folks are proud of wearing bright colours and loving pop and drag for example. In fact, they also have some gay characters in the show who are what some may consider “masc”, such as Anwar’s boyfriend.

This show is criminally relatable to me. I am a mixed of Otis and Jackson character. Socially awkward, hate parties and people and with the pressure from my family. Wish I had a friend like Eric or Viv, then my life would have been different now. :(
