Rip. Barry and Rip Phone ... Barry we miss you much ... Phone not so much
word!
what really gets me is when someone points a gun at you and you tell them to point it away and they say "but its empty what does it matter?"
It's disrespectful as hell. Whether it's loaded or not you don't point a weapon at anyone you don't want to shoot. Even if you see them drop the mag and clear the chamber you dont point it at someone.
I had a friend that pointed his 10/22 at my head with his finger on the trigger once, I instinctively I ripped the gun out of his hands the whole time he was saying" It's not loaded, It's not loaded" and sure enough it had a loaded mag and one in the chamber when I cleared it, my friend turned white as a ghost knowing had he pulled the trigger he would have killed me.
LogicBeforeFaIth And he probably would have.
Most of us were taught from a very young age guns are always loaded, people who don’t have gun ownership in their family history lack that training but one would hope common sense would take care of it... Unfortunately common sense has become uncommon..
My own dad did that exact thing to me, believe it or not. We don't talk anymore.
Best.
Intro.
Ever.
Still miss ya Barry.
I come back every so often to rewatch these videos, classics 😄 r.i.p. Barry 🙏🏼
My Boyfriend's girfriend fw's with this too
every beginning shooter should watch this, p.s. rip Barry
Where can I get an Incredibles costume? Sweet digs man.
RIng ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring !!!!!!!
Eric: "I'll get it."
Any gun which you have not, yourself, verified is LOADED!
Awesome intro, RIP Barry
who else rewound it about 20 times the part he broke the phone?
yo
Didier Draugba I did that was awsome an 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Me
a firearm is always loaded and the safety is always broke is how i was raised
I miss Barry so much. RIP. :(
The problem is a lack of respect for what a firearm is capable of.
When you handle a mechanical device designed to take human life, you need to respect it. Simple.
4 years to late but ...EXACTLY!
It's not designed to, it's capable of.
@@GoldenTV3 No it's designed to. I'm pro 2A all the way but to say guns aren't designed to take human lives is just untrue.
When I went in to a local gun store to buy my first ever gun, I was shocked at what I saw. Even me, someone who had never owned or shot a gun, knew that you NEVER point it at or sweep someone. But these supposed "gun experts" who worked at the store were sweeping everyone! Their customers were sweeping me too, and no one was saying anything. Needless to say I left and bought my first gun elsewhere.
I was in a local gun shop when I realised a guy working there had picked up another customers rifle and it was pointing straight at me. I automatically stepped out of the way which he noticed me do and then said "Don't worry it's not loaded"...
Beesa10 it's still disrespectful, I don't mind telling that to people either.
That opening! Man, Mr. Moss must have a fantastic sense of humor to let you do that!
Omg thank you for smashing the phone..."handled" lolololol
vbot111 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I was a kid during Cold War when my Dad was in Polish special forces. He gave me a hard time every time I pointed a toy gun at another human being. When I was a bit older we were going to the range together and the muzzle discipline was an obvious thing to me. For years I thought it was an overkill forcing me to treat a plastic pistol as a real gun. Today I can appropriate my dad's approach to the firearms education and I started teaching my own son the muzzle discipline since he was 2 years old.
I'm watching all of your gun gripe videos and looking at all safety instructions I can find before getting my first gun to avoid any possible accidents and negligent discharges
Good idea. Just make sure to follow the basic gun safety rules: pointed in safe direction at all times, finger off the trigger, check to make sure unloaded whenever you pick up the gun (including the chamber!).
dvon9392 Remember. Every gun is loaded. Always remember that.
dvon9392 Great idea an IV8888 is a great source of information....
Good idea. Honestly most of it is common sense and respect for others around you. And imagine the guilt people must feel if they make a mistake and hurt, or god forbid kill someone.. it's no joke.
@@zellarsDD777 In short...don't be an Alec Baldwin.
These safety rules are in every gun manual. Are you telling me some people don't read it? Well I'll be damned.
There was a whole gripe about that too
Rules are meant to be broken.
Never underestimate the power of potato.
It's ALWAYS LOADED.
exactly
An old fellow and his buddy went deer hunting and when getting the shotguns out of the back seat one of them got caught by the trigger on the other. The gun went off blowing a hole through the automatic transmission spoiling their day. The car had to be towed!
That’s why I have a bulletproof transmission. It’s called getting a Toyota
ive 22, ive been shooting since i was 5 years old. my elders taught me properly and i cannot even pick a gun up without checking it. It is all about being educated and understanding firearms. safety needs to be a habit, almost an OCD habit.
AMEN BROTHERS
A great safety message regarding firearms, even if many ranges and stores that I have personally visited DO require your gun to be in a case as well as unloaded (not just visibly unloaded with an open action). Keep spreading the good safety gospel, gentlemen!
one of the most important Gripes, share with all new gun owners
I showed this video to a friend of mine who would commonly sweep me and my house while shooting our bb guns. Keep in mind we use very strong bb guns. after a while i got tired of telling him to watch where hes pointing his gun and we didnt shoot together for a long time. after showing him this video a few weeks ago he has been much better about it and has not swept me, my house, himself, or anything else he shouldnt be. thank you guys so much.
We all need a safety reminder from time to time, thank you
Let’s all appreciate the fact Barry was able to impart the knowledge on us that he did before he passed. Good man Gone too soon
You fellas are so nice and polite. Bary is so polite to the woman pointing the gun at his face. Great guys!
I work at Walmart in the Sporting Goods Department, ( I know it isn't much but it's a start for me because I'm only 18 and in the town I live in Walmart is the only place that sells firearms ) I had a younger lady that is a college student who is from Canada and never even held a gun. So she asked if she could see a Savage Muddy Girl .308 and I complied with her. I retrieved the rifle from the case, made sure it was clear even though all firearms at my Walmart have trigger locks, and handed her the rifle and the first thing she did was turn and point it at coworker. He immediately jerked the barrel in a safe direction and I began to explain how you should always treat any firearm like it's loaded and never point it at something you don't intend to destroy. Then she hands the rifle back to me and spat me " This is why there is so many shootings/gun accidents in the U.S. " I replied with " No, it's because of people like you, who have no clue what they're doing, know nothing about the firearm they're holding, or just general firearm safety. " She then proceeded to hand me the gun and leave.
What a savage
@Long Schnozzed Tribesman triggered
foresight is 2020, but if you knew she hadnt ever touched a gun, why didnt you go over the 4 basic rules with her before hand?
My wife almost shot me when I asked her to bring me my .40cal to me from downstairs & I told her before she got it that it was loaded & keep it pointed down. She brings me the gun upstairs with it pointed at me, with her finger nearly on the trigger. Before I could get the piece from her, I yelled at her to not keep the finger near/on the trigger & I told her it was loaded! She argued with me, saying, your magazine isn't in the pistol. I told her, honey, give me the gun, let me show you something. I ejected the round I had chambered in the pistol & it fell to the floor. I told her, I rammed it into her really, that you could've almost just accidentally killed me & you knew better ahead of time. Always treat these tools as if they're loaded. If your husband tells you it's loaded especially, then IT'S LOADED, LOL.
This is probably my fifth or whatever time watching this video and never gets old and it's always a good lesson and always appreciate the tips and tricks and the lessons learned from Barry we sure do miss that rascal!
Gospel right here. Never get tired of preaching it
"when I'm looking down the barrel of a gun I don't appreciate it." - Classic.
stupid people and guns dont mix. some people should never own or even touch a firearm. great video nonetheless
RIP Barry
My father always emphasized this critical point to me. I have enjoyed watching these videos. These are good nature'd guys who are enjoyable to watch and listen to.
GREAT video guys! It never ceases to amaze me how many people have guns and have even been through hunters safety or conceal carry etc...and still have a total lack of trigger and/or muzzle discipline. I was taught the basic 4 before I was allowed to fire a gun for the first time (@ 9 years old) and I find that proper trigger and muzzle discipline comes second nature with training, which brings me back to why these videos are so great. The more the info gets out the better.
I usually have proper muzzle discipline, and take extra care to make sure my gun isn't loaded outside of the range, but I do have my moments where I could do better. Good video, especially the intro ;) I wish I could do that.
I've gone to ranges, being swept with a gun-no matter what kind- is terrifying. I can't tell if you have you finger on the trigger, I don't want to stare down the barrel.
ABSOLUTELY the best intro I've seen yet.
Great Gun Gripe, guys! As someone who is fairly new to shooting, muzzle safety is something I am trying to teach myself to be aware of. I know the incessant phone calls get irritating, but remember, it's a sign that you guys at Moss Pawn are making a difference.
I hit the floor and yell "take cover!"...
Lol
I love that intro:) that phone was really annoying though.
I've been watching (and greatly enjoying!) the "Gun Gripes" series. I've started at the first one and have made my way here over the last couple of weeks. Every time that dang phone rings I can tell it aggravates Eric and the intro on this episode was absolutely hilarious! Keep up the great work Eric on your channel. I've been a subscriber now for a couple of weeks or so only because I recently found this channel through some other firearm channels I follow.
This video made my day for two reasons.
1. Muzzle discipline cannot be preached enough IMO, accidental shooting deaths are probably the most preventable cause of death in the country.
2. The Saltwater fishing channel concept sounds awesome; I can't wait to see it.
Very good points made here! I walk into the gunshop empty handed, and ask permission to go back to my vehicle to bring in a cleared gun. (empty, open bolt) I can tell it is appreciated. It is safe, and good manners. I don't like the idea of someone just walking in with a gun....ask permission!!!! R.I.P. Barry
This is how ive always done it as well
I think every gun shop should hire a door keeper.. Every gun that comes in must be cleared as checked by door keeper...
I respectfully disagree. A safety check should be performed at the door for any firearm brought in for testing or repair; not the ones that will remain holstered unless SHTF.
Shtf?? What's that lol
+Brett Young "Shit Hits The Fan."
Oh ya... I don't hear that much lol so I always forget... Or did I even know... Hmm... Oh well now I know and maybe il remeber lol
Academy does that, but I have yet to come across one who knows how to handle a gun. See my response to this video about a stupid Academy employee.
I like these Gun Gripe videos. It brings to the surface topics that are not address everyday. Take this video. If I was new to guns I prob never though about making sure to point the muzzle in a safe direction when looking at new firearms It just teaches you great practices for the new gun user. It also show the more sensitive side to the gun owner to the public that we are not all crazy. Good job fellas.
This gun gripes has the best intro so far! Thanks for teaching me so much Barry!
At the end, it sounded like you were saying "Assault water fishing," lol! I want in on that boat! LMFAO! XD
Barry was a bad ass!
One of your best vids for any gun owner to watch regardless of experience. This information saves lives THANK YOU
It's crazy that people make these same mistakes over and over. Those of us who are true enthusiasts are meticulous about our safety. Thanks for making and posting videos like this!
it's about time you guys smashed up phone
I don't care if it's loaded or not, never sweep me. I've had gun shop employees sweep me, including Cabelas! These people are an advertisement for the Brady Bunch..
Sorry it has taken so long to subscribe, but you guys are awesome. I thoroughly enjoy watching your gripes, this is the kind of thing this country needs, and these are the things this country needs to know. Hope ya'll never stop. Will be keeping up.
Treat every weapon as if it were loaded!
Never point a weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot!
Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you intend to fire!
Keep your weapon on safe until you are ready to fire!
Oh man that takes me back. Great video guys, this knowledge should be welded into the back of anyone's head who owns a firearm.
The problem is that you don't learn gun discipline in a book or whatever, its a habit you have to develop. People with the best muzzle discipline are taught at a young age by their fathers. Usually starting with air rifles, .22's the working up all the way to AR15's. Now when someone who wasnt taught that and just waks into a store, buys a gun, don't know shit about safety. That's no good
I totally agree with you. Muzzle and trigger discipline is a habit to me because I was taught at a very young age. I don't see how muzzle discipline is all that difficult for people to master.
My dad taught me muzzle discipline when I was young (although I never got my own rifle, I learnt to shoot my dads 270) and I always make sure that the muzzle is never pointed at a person or anything that I don't want to shoot even if the bolt is out. I also always open the bolt and look to make sure that there is nothing chambered before I give an answer as to whether its loaded or not even if I think I know the answer, I always double check.
Well thats the problem up here in the north. Many people view guns as evil things as kids from the media, parents, teachers, whatever/etc. but when they finally get rid of that mentality they want to learn about guns and they don't have the basic knowledge. Ill admit, I didn't grow up around guns until I was about 11 or 12 but I had a healthy fear of them and that is what made me learn how to safely handle/operate one but not everyone is like that.
I learned to shoot at a young age by my father and uncles, before I even went shooting with them i had to take hunters safety. understanding gun etiquette and range courtesy were top priority for them. went from shooting a .22 up to a 30-30 lever action and 12ga. never once was disciplined at a range or store because I was taught to be respectful to the gun, range and other shooters.
Its the laws.... They restrict and prevent people from legal ownership and safety training, and forces them to obtain a firearm on the black market.... Where almost every gun you would buy is loaded, ready to go.... You can't have a thriving black market with a highly restrictive regulatory government..... The only entity who even gives safety training here in Massachusetts is NRA certified instructors.... People bitch about the NRA, but without their safety courses and instructors, we wouldn't even have the ABILITY to acquire any safety certification for firearms in Massachusetts.. Which is a requirement for an FID/LTC in these liberal states..... There are NO firearms safety courses outside of GOAL and NRA certified courses.... And you wonder why people don't understand how to safely use firearms??? You can't know something you were never taught or exposed to.... And black market firearms don't require any safety certification!!!! Our government has created the very conditions for these unsafe firearms situations and accidents
Thats habit for me to always open my bolt when im done w my shotgun
+devino larsen I used to do clay shooting competitions, and if you didn't have the bolt open when not shooting you would be disqualified. Only exception was for double barrels that were being placed on the stands, because they wouldn't be able to stand when open.
I'm the same way it's open when in transport or hen I'm done firing until I get back home and it goes in the rack then dry fire it to release the spring so it does not sit with tension on the spring
Beltmaker09 Springs don't get worn out from being compressed. Its the act of compressing and decompressing that causes wear on them. That's why magazines for rifles and pistols can be left loaded for long periods of time without damage.
+meteoricthrone ya but y leave tension on them if u don't have to
That was THE first thing I learned as a child about weapons safety, it was drilled into me at a very early age and has served me well ever since, thanks Dad!
watched all of these gun gripes since the first one and this by far is the best one in my mind....
when an airsoft game is over i take the mag and battery out my gun
Yeah. Some people don't realize that even when you take the mag out, if the battery is still in, there can still be BBs in the gun that will fire,
Good.
You want a fucking cookie you wouldn't applaud a fish for swimming
No need to be an ass about it. I don't think you understand how many people leave the battery in it until after they get home to charge it. Remember: Common sense isn't common.
Elijah Beck chocolate chip please
The first time I walked into a gun shop with a gun in my hand I wanted to be as inconspicuous as possible. I had the chamber open, barrel facing straight up and I even carried it in backwards (trigger towards me, sights facing out). I take that back the very first time I didn't even bring the gun inside I just went in and asked what was procedure on brining in my revolver. He handed me a box and said to put it in there and bring it in lol
Best intro to a gun gripe yet!!!
I'm so glad y'all did this video . I was taught muzzle control at an age of 8 . It was the first thing I was ever taught . This needs to be taught to all shooters as a first part of training . It has stuck with me and I have practiced muzzle control for so many years that I just naturally do it now . Oh I just recently watched the Hi Point torture test . Love y'all,s videos . See I'm one of those crazy Hi Point lovers . I try to preach the Hi Point gospel . Made in America is my favorite part .
In Canada you have to take a fire arms safety course to get a permit to buy a gun what is the requirement in your state?
Also you are not permitted to have loaded fire arms in public places.
This is america! and I have a concealed weapons lic. I can carry a loaded firearm in public. Also not all stated are communist and require a fid, or fioid card.
Do you need a Drivers lic were you live? If you do then why would you have a problem with a firearms Lic?
drivers lic dont do anything except give you "permission" to drive on a road you pay for.
taiming71
Because no one is going to confiscate your car for their own political agenda when you do absolutely nothing wrong. US was founded on guns and 2nd Amendment rights, even in countries with liberal gun laws they are still different than the US.
The second amendment says the right for a well regulated militia to bear arms. It says nothing about personal gun owner ship. For or against.
It was a amendment to legalize states to have a standing militia in case the federal government tried to take complete control. Read what it says, not what the NRA tells you it says.
Check in to your gun laws i think you will find they are states laws based. That's why in California you can't own a 50 cal Barret but in Arizona you can get one at a gun show with out a back ground check from a private seller.
Thank you for posting this video. I am glad I am not the only one who feels this way and I was ALWAYS told to never point the firearm in an unsafe direction. I always usually carry my rifles barrel down towards the ground so the don't even shoot into the open air. It is always a good practice to shoot in a safe direction while target shooting as well. I always shoot into a mound or a hillside. Never a direction in which a bullet could travel farther than I attend.
I *love* these Gun Gripes, but I must say this one really helped me the most! Please *please* keep them coming!!
I cried so hard at the opening skit, well done
Great video guys, well done! Gun safety can never be stressed enough.
this is by far the most important and also my favorite video.
P.S. I didn't know Barry passed away. From what I saw on gun gripes it would have been an honor for this man to be my mentor. There aren't many men left like him. RIP sir
i think all of us agree with this gripe. im glad you guys made this one. im glad that you guys post anything!
thank you for finally doing this gripe i have been waiting for this guys
I completely agree! I was blown away by what i witnessed at my local public gun range last weekend. So many people with new firearms with no knowledge of how to use them.
Usually folks take several vids to put those points through. I am an instructor it is part of my job, this here short gripe hit the jackpot on several points at once. I hope you don't mind me citing this link in my work.
Also wanted to tell you guys. I love the reloading videos and everything else your doing. Keep em coming. Thanks
Thank you!!! Great video!! I can't stress this enough and I don't think anyone can stress it or hear it enough.
In my youth I bought a good quality plastic model of a 1911, glued it together, was amazed at the realism.. showing it to some guys from my gun club, action works, rounds eject etc, then one says "Have you noticed what we're doing? Its just a model, but we're keeping it aimed down and away from each other."
THAT is how deep you need to get muzzle discipline, so it happens automatically.
I love these intros. You guys gotta bring em back!
ok good point, my #1 gripe and a lot of store owners do it. Now here is my gripe. Love your customers and watchers when they phone you. They made you what you are.
Thank you for making this video. I believe this is an extremely important subject and one of the very first rules of handling a gun I learned. Also, this subject was well presented with an understanding toward those that are ignorant to proper handling. It is all too easy to "jump the gun" some situations and lose sight of what is important to others, which, is in this case is education of firearms.
Absolutely!! I was taught about firearms in the cadets and it was hammered in to us don't point a gun at anything you don't want to shoot! Even the deactivated drill rifles around the detachment just because it's a bad habit to get in to.Even now with my own rifle if I am handing it to someone else for whatever reason I go through the drill I was taught back then. It's a sometimes looks like I'm being overly cautious looking and checking with my finger but I don't ever want to accidentally hand someone a loaded gun!
Hey guys its jake. i bought the .22LR SCAR. And just wanted to say thanks again for helping with the purchase. It is everything i wanted in a .22, thanks again Barry and Erik.
Great Video. Rules you should never forget. You always very informative. Keep up the great work!!!!
this all comes back to one of the first things we were all taught when it comes to firearms, treat everything as if its loaded! it doesnt matter what condition the gun is in you do not aim it at someone or something you dont intend to kill, i've said this and had someone ask "well what if that gun is incapable of firing?" i dont care if the mag is on the table and the bolt is sitting in your back pocket it should be treated as if its locked and loaded and ready to go. all it takes is one slip up to cause a fatality and it'll be something you'll never forgive yourself for
Great vid man. This is a reminder we can always use every once in a while.
I love gun shops and gun shows. I've ruffled a few feathers over my system of inspecting a gun in that situation. I always drop the magazine and work the action to be sure it's not loaded. At most of the places I go they've got some kind of soft target on the wall to look down the sights. With a pistol or revolver I always grip it and point it at the ground a few yards ahead of me or at the wall. I've had a 44 Mag stuck in my face and I didn't like looking down a one way trip to the morgue.
Excellent job guys. Safety cannot be stressed enough. Great topic.
Barry is priceless. "Happens again and I'm going to raze him". Epic !
Wow you guys are fired up today!
Love the videos, keep it up.
yeh i love the ones that go to shops and shows and continuously snap the trigger , like they realy know what their doing.
Remember the code lad's. I'm from Ireland and my dad always taught me, Never even even son!! Point a gun at anyone!! Even if unloaded be!! matters not the last to me. Love your show👍
Great video. Thanks for posting. And you're exactly right. I see it happening all the time. Situational awareness. Always know we're the muzzle of the weapon is pointed. Loaded or empty
Thanks guys. I'm new to the shooting sport, I learn a lot from you.

I CANT GET ENOUGH OF THAT!!!!!
Miss you, Barry!!
You guys are really great. Miss barry. And yall taught my nephew a great deal :)
Hard to re watch now with Barry gone glad we have these videos
OH I LOVE THE BEGINNING!!! WELL DONE!!!
Great advice that SHOULD be common sense! Just yesterday I was at a local sporting goods store and a guy behind the counter muzzled me! I wish I lived closer to Moss Pawn!
Thank you for making a video stressing safety! Bad habits hurt us all
