Hey Neil....I know it's ancient history but does it seem possible that about 1972 you could have been cruising with Stephen Stills in a beigh colored pick up from the Topanga Center to the valley ( which fortunately has not yet been sucked into cracks in the earth...yet ) I was 13 and hitchhiking from the beach home to Canoga and 2 guys picked me up like that . The thing that kind of ties it in for me is you guys had a guitar in the cab of the truck between ya and some beer so it was crowded. So the possible blonde haired Stephen guy goes " Hey kid can you hold this guitar back there and be real careful with it !?!? " It was a D28 Martin pretty sure , my dad being a professional player . I didn't know who you guys were yet but shortly thereafter got into your music and saw your picture on album covers and went "Wow , I think these guys picked me up hitchhiking " So where you around Topanga in '71 ? Just trying to figure out if I hallucinated the whole thing or not ! Thanks for everything !

I worked on this music video. Shot at the Troubadour in West Hollywood. Neil is so f*ckin' cool. He wanted a real PA system (not playback) to play it LIVE and LOUD. And he wanted an audience, so I'm sitting at one of the tables down front watching them perform for the master shots. And they shot a live "Farmer John" vid when I was off set too. We also shot the "Mansion on a Hill" video that week at Queen of Angels Hospital.

I got a feeling the formula of "grunge" has been around along time but never truly made its way to the forefront of music until the late 80s and early 90s idk the mind set is still alive believe me and the spirit of that music will continue to live on even though it seems impossibly dormant at the moment..
I believe it can happen again. Idk how. But we have to encourage it. In some ways it seems Green Day was the last one that had some energy towards it. But I’m always hopeful someone will come to bring music with feeling up again.
That spirit is dormant to mainstream music listeners and followers of god-awful modern rock radio, but it's very much alive in the underground rock scene, and CZcams is just one platform you can find out about them. Here are some contemporary bands/artists to check out:

Every time I listen to Neil I’m reminded how f’ing brilliant he is
I wrote two pages about how great Neil Young is. His life, gifted singer and writer. Marriages and divorces. He helped the farmers greatly through concerts to make $ to start over with gardens to feed their families and sell what they grew. Then I take it back to the beginning to reread what I wrote. The first album I got from my now deceased brother. Cinnamon Girl..So many reasons he will always rise above all other artists..There are many great artists that I love but none give me the gut wrenching feelings of Neil's work

Legend. I've been lucky enough to catch Neil in concert 4 times now (TWICE at Massey Hall) and there is no artist old or new that can come anywhere close to competing with a Neil Young show. Pure epic-ness.

To Half-ass guitar player....Wow that should be my handle cuz it's what I am ! Too ! 62 yrs old... been NY fan only 52 yrs . Just picked up guitar again after several years and naturally Neil Young songs are a substantial part of my so called repitoire . Any ways I can't believe I just discovered Jason Molina and want to learn to play some of his matierial too. But no tutorials on YT. And my ear not good enuf to identify the chords . When I was in early high school I only knew of quiet Neil. Gordon Gano from the Violent Femmes guest programed this on Rage one night. It was my intro to Crazy Horse. I never looked back......Just saw him play it in Melbourne last night. I was 3 metres from the stage. So amazing.

I first heard this song when I was seventeen and it was a revelation. I was teased mercilessly when I was in high school for being different from everybody else. I didn't have a very good outlook on life and was glad to hear this song. Neil Young changed my life.

Once found this song on anonymous FTP, downloaded it, played it loud, everybody loved it. These days I get to see Neil and his band.
