  • The B.C. government has announced it is pausing all new international student applications at new post-secondary institutions for two years to “eliminate exploitive practices and improve the quality of post-secondary education” in the province.
Selina Robinson, B.C.’s Minister for Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills, made the announcement Monday, saying the pause will allow the government to institute higher standards and greater accountability for the province’s educational institutions.
    Global's Richard Zussman reports.

If the PR doesn't work out PGWP way, student has an option to buy LMIA for $40-50k (Labor Market Impact Assessment, another biggest immigration SCAM, where any local business would advertise for a Supervisor/Manager position with no intention to actually hire from Canada. Later claiming that they could not find person of this qualifications in Canada, this business owner then bring the person from outside of Canada on fake payrolls (buyer pays for his own payslips), until the person can get PR on express basis, as Supervisor/Manager level experience can get person higher points to expedite PR in 1-2 years).

Harper was enjoying all the cash in from China, when it started 30 years ago.
Harper helped with what we're facing now.
It was around the time of forgein buyers and buying up older rental family homes.
Mostly 3 bedroom homes with backyards
rent was between $900 $1000 per month.
Families had to move to different cities to find affordable housing.

If you are applying from overseas or just arriving somewhere to work you won’t be acutely aware of all the policies and ESA that would otherwise protect you and allow you to advocate for yourself. Sometimes the conditions are such that just getting accepted out of thousands of applicants is a blessing you don’t want to tempt fate with by shaking things up. The fault is solely on the abusive employers and the government for not providing the structural support for people to work in adequate conditions and have a path to continue working should that job fall through. You really believe it’s an affordable glamorous reality for those having to rely on government assistance?

    - Greatly lower amount of international students.
    - Limit those they can bring with them.
    - Greatly lower amount of accepted migrants.
    - Enforce border laws.
    - Lower the % cap of foreign ownership of homes allowed.
There, I just provided the most obvious long-term fix to the housing market, which can't be fixed short-term anyways as the damage of increasing demand has been done and supply always takes time to build. It comes at a cost of needing universities to be more responsible with their spending and initiate cuts. Well too bad. Them having a bloated administration is not worth the tradeoff of entire generations of Canadians not being able to afford a home. As for pensions, if you constantly need more people to come in to keep the system afloat, think about how similar it is to a Ponzi scheme and realize you either bleed for decades or you rip off the band-aid quickly.
Anything any other politician is suggesting is because they're either stupid, trying to be far too complex with their solutions, or lying to you.

    • @tarablue4472

A Ponzi scheme is exactly what I've been calling it for a long time. Japan, N. and S. Korea and many other far east nations, Russia, etc. also have low fertility rates and even below replacement rates. None of them are talking about taking in immigrants because they know that taking in too many will dilute their culture, their heritage and once lost you can't get that back. It's better to balance the budget and even REFORM the pension system so it's sustainable.

Canada need to fix its immigration long time ago. Provinces like BC, Ontario have majority immigration influx which they can't absorb. On the other hand, provinces like Saskatchewan and Manitoba keep lose their new immigration to other province like BC and Ontario. Provinces like Sasktchewan and Manitoba need introduce their own residence restricted immigration plan. Once you leave the residence you are allowed in your immigration visa, Your visa or even citizenship will not valid anymore. This is the only way to solve labor shortage in some area and over immigration in some big cities.

It would be a great idea to offer free schooling through an out-of-the-streets program, but first you would need a hard drug recovery system. Also, people are against public post secondary education, but once you research when, who and why the model of student loans was implemented, you realize it is not because it wouldn't work, but because it would work too well for the interests of certain groups of power. Most of those gullible international students pay above 30 to 50K for a pseudo college education in hopes of getting a job to regain what their families already spent. Most of them go into big debt to come here just to be fooled by make-believe institutions and end up in near homelessness wishing to recover at least part of what they invested for a lie that was sold to them. This schools are the problem, they were not regulated enough and now they brought thousands of people from abroad that will be in a perilious economic situation once they graduate.

I hate the idea that goverments pays tuition subisidies (our taxes) to the universities for students to get their useless undergrad then work at a near mininum wage job.
